Thanks for the review Landon, I’ve been flip flapping between the classic vibe squier and this Player tele. I saw your review of the 3 teles and think I might go for the player 👍🏻
I have this in polar white. This guitar has so much character. Beautiful clean tone and it has an amazing growl to it when you push it through some distortion. I get all my guitars set up professionally when I get them but it required next to no adjusting, my only issue was the pickup switch kept popping off, so my luthier put a few "teeth" in the post with some fret trimmers and it's good to go. Over all Fender did a great job with it. I'm in love with this beauty.
From Leo: Add 4 way switching and it will be ready to go for any venue. At the factory level 4 way switching would cost maybe a dollar, Fender should just make it standard.
I have a left-handed Fender Player Tele in Sunburst. I have changed the tuners to Fender Left-hand locking tuners, and the Stringtree to a Graph-Tech. I have a left-hand Graphtech nut but I haven’t fitted that yet as the stock nut does a pretty good job. Fitted D’Addario NYXL 09-42 strings. I really like this guitar and play it more than my American Pro Tele.
Just bought one of these, should get it in few days from Long & Mcquade, they ran out of 3 tone burst with the Pau Ferro fret-board so it will be brought in from another location. They said it will be set up for me, including making there are no sharp frett ends. $875 Can. Can't wait to get it. Such a nice guitar for the money.
teles are indead only for country music, not only the single coil ones, but the high output humbuckers too. It seems that the more distortion you at to your sound, as long as you're playing a tele, the mre country you sound!

Plus the tongue in cheek humour, when reviewing the guitars, amps, etc.. Good job :-). In your opinion, which is the better guitar, out of the Fender Player Telecaster and the Godin Stadium HT? I have to strongly agree with everything you said ! Butterscotch Teles are so right , I love my avri '52. Also both my Mexican Strats were flawless & perfect straight from the box and I am extremely impressed with them , however.. back in 2014 ,I asked PMT here 🇬🇧, in Bristol ,my local store ,to order the 60th Anniversary 50's Classic Player ...the first two arrived and were unboxed in front of me by the manager ...both were heavily chipped and scraped along the top edge of the body and it was because the tweed cases had protruding metal studs or screws sticking through the inside plush ... luckily the third one turned up pristine and any wearing lacquer is down to me ! Btw the track in the background was great too 👌

I bought the Player Jazz Bass in the sweet blue color. It’s a great guitar! Very happy with my purchase. I believe I noticed the prices are jacked up for you there in Canada. Great review Lando! I ended up buying a 2021 model in Capri orange with a maple neck. Replayed them over the next month and secretly hoped another one (maybe a butterscotch) would show up in town or someone would adjust the black one to sound like the orange one. Ended up buying the Capri orange Tele. I would think the electronics would be highly QC’d but trees are all unique. I was amazed how differently they could sound.l and feel. That’s twice now that I bought a guitar because I liked how it sounded/felt even though not a colour I wanted but you don’t play with your eyes I guess.
I’ll be trading an Epiphone Les Paul on Saturday for this exact guitar. I’m a Fender guy, can never warm up to anything else! Immediately I’ll replace the bridge to a vintage 3-saddle bridge ($50) and I’ll eventually replace the pickups to something more vintage voiced. Boom, done. Wicked guitar all around.
Hey Landon, cool video! Great sounding tele! I‘m excited to see it with the Super Beetle! Very nice to see that you like the guitar and it has cool specs too! And nice song in the background!
Tele for country music :that late Albert Collins proved opposite...with his tele he carried blues songs to higher levels...Albert Collins was a Tele guitarist player...one of the best,
Both my gigging guitars are MIM Fenders. The only issue I have are the stock frets. I always have to get them refretted, then again that's a matter of preference - I favor Dunlop 6105 frets. Elective surgery aside, they're solid guitars.
I have got a similiar experience but at the begining my favourite color was this used by Mike Stern. I hated "white" and "sunburst". After few years a sunburst is my number one :D In fact I have got only one Tele (Player) that is why I do not have problem which one to choose :D
@@landonbailey Your welcome. I have got 2 electric guitars: Strat Squier VM 70s and Tele Player. It is really hard to compare these to guitars. I do not have a huge experience with electric guitars: most of my guitar playing (about 30 years) was on Ovation guitar. In my humble opinion telecaster stays in tune better than my strat. I noticed that using open chords my tele has got fuller and stronger sound than strat. It is really hard to compare these 2 different tools. Both are great. Have a good day!
Nice video. I'm glad you like your player Tele. I bought the orange version and just can't stop the wound strings, especially the low E, from buzzing like crazy. At a barely acceptable buzz level the action is very high; it's just no fun. Some truss rod adjustment, saddles etc. helped a bit, but when I look at your neck, I'm nowhere near that nice action. Do you have any advice? Thanks.
oh hey thanks! ya that's tough to troubleshoot without the guitar in my hands. Try this site as a guideline: support.fender.com/hc/en-us/articles/214343803-How-do-I-set-up-my-Telecaster-guitar-properly-
Yours has different saddles on the bridge. All the ones I see for sale over here in the stores have bent steel not block saddles. In the uk looking at specs from different stores online they all state block saddles however the pictures show bent steel . Maybe different for export to the uk ? Interesting. Anyway thank you once again for a great revue.
I have a new Butter Scotch Blonde Player and have become obesessed with it. (in a good way!) I bought a Player Strat too and love it.Its perfect. But this Tele feels like a old fried already.
Just got the special edition players strat, the one in blue burst, for 365 used at a local pawn. Lol best ive ever played. Currently selling my other axes to get another player series strat for a back up. Those will be my only 2 guitars and all I'll have left of my collection is those 2 guitars and a blues jr. Done with the cheap stuff 😆 its so freeing to not have a collection.
@@cw5112 how are those blues 4's? I have an original or the 1 now I guess it's called. Is it worth upgrading? Yeah, im contemplating not even getting a "backup" cuz I don't really gig out much anymore. I'm thinking of getting a tele custom deluxe so i have a humbucker guitar to go with the strat. The strat has a humbucker in the bridge, but I never use it cuz I hate bridge pickups 😆. I live in the 5 position 90% of the time. An acoustic would be nice too, but other than that I'm good. Collections suck.
Been watching stratosphere guitar for a player series tele in butterscotch body, plan to get a vintage tint neck, I have a set of noiseless pickup ready to go. I have the gen 5 noiseless on my ultra telecaster and really like them. I usually play with headphones and don't like noise. Love you channel.
Hi Landon, Great Review, my Nephew lives in Ottowa and my son lives in St Cath. I play a classic vibe with bare knuckle 55's pups and pots it's a fantastic tele but the pine body is on the heavy side. Can you tell me if the Player is lighter or better in any way than the classic vibe as I'm thinking about buying a player. Thanks and best wishes from Ireland.
hey cheers! I prefer the neck on the player models, but that's a personal thing. Weight wise, it's guitar to guitar. Some CVs can be 9 lbs. All depends on the wood
Excellent video! Could you elaborate more on the differences between this Butterscotch Blonde Player and that of the American Elite? Are the differences so significant as to justify the investment? Or will the Player suffice (albeit with some upgrades, perhaps)? Thank you!
Very interesting video! Have you ever ever tried telecaster vintera or American performer? In that case, please in your opinion what is the best? Many thanks!
@@landonbailey Thank you. I was looking at this particular guitar and the 60's version for neck comparison. The 60's is a slim taper but nowhere around to play and compare. I like to try before I buy ya know. But awesome video on this Telecaster. I am a huge fan of the Telecaster as well. The versatility and the tones are just perfect. I have a classic vibe tele modded up with Seymour Duncan hotrails and 500k pots with a Wilkinson 3 barrel compensated bridge. A set of 10's Cobalt Super Slinky strings. It can sing and scream. Just was lookin at a new tele with single coils.
Hi, I see the fender telecaster guitar models. The fingerboard materials all of them are mapple. But some of fender player telecasters's neck has more dark colour. Some of fender player telecasters's neck has more light colour. Why ? (All of them has mapple fingerboard)
@@landonbailey ive had the bent saddles version before, and tried changing it with the graphtech saddles but it ended up not matching the holes. i mean i had the right measurements for it, but it simply didnt match and it was hard to change strings. now im wondering if the new batch of Player Teles are now compatible with the graphtech saddles' measurments. Hope to have answers :( I really dig the Player Teles
@@landonbailey it's a 4 string guitar that was in the collection i don't remember what's the name but i think it was the alternate reality or some sort of collection about space. it's such a beautiful guitar in a stunning metallic blue color. i would love it if you ever got to test it and film a video about it cuz i'm thinking of buying it myself but i don't see any videos on it on RUclips which is such a shame because that guitar is a true gem that should complete any guitarist's collection! sending love
Return of the Native I already have a 50s reissue Telecaster that has a great vintage sound. Looking to mod the player series as something different. But routing things out is beyond my skill level.
I'm torn between a g5220 and a player tele... I have a player strat, and I've always wanted a tele... I have a mk tele with 2 humbuckers but it doesn't count... The thing about the tele is, its probably my favorite sound, but I already have a guitar that looks like it :/

Thanks Landon for the videos, especially the player telecaster! Your video cost me 700 dollars cause you sold me on that guitar, Im putting a 51 nocaster in the neck, other than that I got lucky and got a great one sent to me, I want a little more tone, and a little less power and I think it will eq up great with the alnico 5 stock bridge, also the mid position should sing as well!!!! I will post another message to you and let you know about the mods I've made and how she sounds. I played ten different teles and the player sounds the way I want, what an awesome guitar so far, only to get better. My search for the tone I've been looking for is over, thanks for the awesome videos!@@! Kev
Cool. I have a butterscotch Player Tele with these “Plus-Deluxe” upgrades by me - Vintage Fender bridge and tuners, Wilkinson's compensated saddles, Mojotone ’52 Quiet Coil pickups, Lucky Dog gnarly knobs, angled-switch cover-plate, and a three string tree to stop the g-string ring behind the nut. It's a great guitar. I love the satin back/glossy top maple neck. For me it just blows away anything else under a grand. And I prefer it to the American series which I can afford to buy if I wanted to.
Nice . I noticed that on the wall behind you. Is it polar white? P.S. love your vids and I bought the AC15C1 because of that. Thanks....all the way from Melbourne Australia. 👍🏻
I tried one of these at my local guitar and the low e string had this horrible buzz when played open and on the first few frets. Anybody know what’s up with that?

I find butterscotch to be perfect for telecaster. Perfect balance and contrast in wood/chrome/black.
I like it when you see the wood structure through it, I wish the finish was more transparent
I disliked it at first but it’s growing on me and on my list now with sunburst, white, and black.

nice!
I totally agree with your opinion.
thanks!
Hey Landon,
cool video!
Great sounding tele!
I‘m excited to see it with the Super Beetle!
Very nice to see that you like the guitar and it has cool specs too!
And nice song in the background!
hey thanks! ya I was going to include the Vox, but I liked what I was getting from the Marshall
Lando27Music Yeah, nice tone!
Just bought one absolutely brilliant £679 😍
Good choice!
She's a beauty ! I've become a Tele addict and this Player series interests me . Great demo-review . Well done again . Tks bro .
hey thanks!
Thank you for not playing the standard twangy county licks.
Sounds great
Tele for country music :that late Albert Collins proved opposite...with his tele he carried blues songs to higher levels...Albert Collins was a Tele guitarist player...one of the best,
It is such a nice guitar! I changed the hardware on mine and it plays amazing
cool! what did you change?
@@landonbailey tuners, bridge, volume pots, etc. got videos on my page 😎. But the classic butterscotch is just classy
Both my gigging guitars are MIM Fenders. The only issue I have are the stock frets. I always have to get them refretted, then again that's a matter of preference - I favor Dunlop 6105 frets. Elective surgery aside, they're solid guitars.
Why's that?
I have got a similiar experience but at the begining my favourite color was this used by Mike Stern. I hated "white" and "sunburst". After few years a sunburst is my number one :D In fact I have got only one Tele (Player) that is why I do not have problem which one to choose :D
Thanks for sharing!
Try this site as a guideline: support.fender.com/hc/en-us/articles/214343803-How-do-I-set-up-my-Telecaster-guitar-properly-
I'm getting one of these.
Butterscotch, and beautiful.
I'm going to put in some Nocaster 51, or Vintage 64 pickups.
nice!
@@landonbailey
Aye !
Yours has different saddles on the bridge. All the ones I see for sale over here in the stores have bent steel not block saddles. In the uk looking at specs from different stores online they all state block saddles however the pictures show bent steel . Maybe different for export to the uk ? Interesting. Anyway thank you once again for a great revue.
the telecaster player heard it with excessive treble, do you know how much capacitor it has?
I do not
I just bought this guitar today 12-6-23
congrats!
Should I buy this guitar as a beginner? I have a cheap set up just now that keeps going out of tune and is not really that great.
Been watching stratosphere guitar for a player series tele in butterscotch body, plan to get a vintage tint neck, I have a set of noiseless pickup ready to go. I have the gen 5 noiseless on my ultra telecaster and really like them. I usually play with headphones and don't like noise. Love you channel.
they had a bunch of those bodies in November. sometimes their reverb/ebay listings are ahead of their main site
@@landonbailey good to know, thanks
looks like prince guitar thats why im gonna get it
👍🎸😁
Nice Tele! 👍🎸
thanks!
Next guitar I just love the tele 😍👍
👍🎸
Perhaps it is possible to do a cpmparison between the Fender Player and Sire T7 Larry Carlton?
The player series telecaster I love them but they are very HEAVY guitars
Heavier than the American models? Why?
Richie Kotzen uses this for shred guitar FYI
he has a nice signature model!
Excellent video! Could you elaborate more on the differences between this Butterscotch Blonde Player and that of the American Elite? Are the differences so significant as to justify the investment? Or will the Player suffice (albeit with some upgrades, perhaps)? Thank you!
hey there! I haven’t played the Elite myself, but I know the neck and pickups are the biggest difference
@@landonbailey, thank you for replying!
Good to know about the neck.
thats a cool lookin guitar, is it hum cancelling in the middle, or is it routed for a humbucker in the neck?
I concur. Excellent guitar!! Nice demo!!
thanks!
Very interesting video! Have you ever ever tried telecaster vintera or American performer? In that case, please in your opinion what is the best? Many thanks!
I haven't tried either
Hey man! Love your videos! Does this guitar come with a case?
no case with the Player model. Player Plus comes with a gigbag though
@@landonbailey oh gotcha. I’ll prolly buy a hard case separate
Do you think you will ever swap to a 3 saddle bridge?
no
A Rock n Roll classic
👍🎸
A real nice guitar thanks for sharing..
👍🎸😊
You're in Ottawa? So am I. Maybe we will cross paths at the gigs.
Have you played the Telecaster 60's Players?
I have not
@@landonbailey Thank you. Just was lookin at a new tele with single coils.
we need more utubers sticking guitar headstocks in our faces, no one ever said.
you just said it
@@landonbailey Yes, someone had to.
Awesome review
hey thanks!
I just ordered mine yesterday. By the way, was that you singing, Landon? That was good!
hey thanks! ya that was a demo I made with my band years ago
Hi, I see the fender telecaster guitar models. The fingerboard materials all of them are mapple. But some of fender player telecasters's neck has more dark colour. Some of fender player telecasters's neck has more light colour. Why ?
(All of them has mapple fingerboard)
Very nice! I got an itch for a tele and this might be exactly right! Thanks for the review
hey right on! My first electric was a 2004 MIM Tele. this one is great too
I pulled the trigger and bought one, omg I love it!! Fantastic guitar ! Thanks for your review.
nice! same Butterscotch or different colour?
@@landonbailey tidepool pool! I'm a softy for blue :)
What song was that when you were showing the specifications?
Cool tele!😁👍. Did you change the bridge saddles? All the ones I’ve seen have Strat type saddles.
no that's stock. I've seen pics with the bent steel. Seems they switched it back
@@landonbailey ive had the bent saddles version before, and tried changing it with the graphtech saddles but it ended up not matching the holes. i mean i had the right measurements for it, but it simply didnt match and it was hard to change strings.
now im wondering if the new batch of Player Teles are now compatible with the graphtech saddles' measurments. Hope to have answers :( I really dig the Player Teles
Very interesting! Wonder why they changed.
what song did you play in the beginning?
can you test the tenor fender telecaster in lake placid blue? I'd love to see how it sounds
I've never heard of that one. maybe one day!
Would it be difficult to swap out the neck pickup for a humbucker? Would the cavity accommodate one?
should work ok. have a look here: ruclips.net/video/QH1J-5reHco/видео.html
The thing about the tele is, its probably my favorite sound, but I already have a guitar that looks like it :/
How do you know if it’s made in Mexico or US ?
it's written on the headstock
Are the Player series routed for humbuckers in the neck? Or just routed for the single coil?
They are routed for a humbucker in the neck: Have a look here, I open it up: MASSIVE Butterscotch Telecaster Comparison! - Squier Affinity VS Classic Vibe 50s VS Fender Player - ruclips.net/video/QH1J-5reHco/видео.html
@@landonbailey Cheers dude. Fast running out of reasons not to pull trigger on a Player tele. (Now spends another 6 months agonising over colour)
this guitar or used fender HW1 telecaster??
this is the one
Good vid. Thx for sharing.
cheers Eriq!
Can u tell what a synthetic bone nut actually is ?
Good question! I have no idea! :)
NICE 👍🔥🎸🦅
Kev
nice! congrats have fun!
How many pieces does the body have?
I wasn't able to see the pieces through the finish
Nice Lando. I’m thinking of getting the Polar White. What do you think?
I love white! ruclips.net/video/VNO5J7HzOJg/видео.html
Nice . I noticed that on the wall behind you. Is it polar white? P.S. love your vids and I bought the AC15C1 because of that. Thanks....all the way from Melbourne Australia. 👍🏻
it's Olympic white. not sure how it's different. I haven't seen it side by side. that body is sold on Fender.com
Lando27Music Oh ok. I think the Olympic is much whiter. I’ll check it out tomorrow.
Is the player series worth the extra over the squier classic vibe 50s?
it is for me. I talk all about it in this video: ruclips.net/video/QH1J-5reHco/видео.html
I tried one of these at my local guitar and the low e string had this horrible buzz when played open and on the first few frets. Anybody know what’s up with that?
bad setup possibly
Lando27Music thank you. would that be the saddles or the neck most likely?
@@diegonapoles2469 unless I had it in hand, I couldnt say. could be either/and/or :)
Lando27Music alright, thanks man. Have a great day:)
