  • In partnership with Commhoist, Wigan Athletic Community Trust held the second annual Commhoist Environmental Sustainability Challenge at The Brick Community Stadium earlier this month.
Two local Primary Schools, St Cuthbert and St Annes, joined Community Trust staff at The Brick Community Stadium to present and pitch their ideas to improve their own school's sustainability and support the local community.
A panel of judges, which included Wigan Athletic Community Trust’s Primary Schools Manager Martin Fitzsimons, Trustee Cathy Robinson and Wigan Athletic F.C’s Supporter Engagement Officer had the difficult task of selecting a winner, with both schools presenting some fantastic ideas.
While the students enjoyed a stadium tour, the judges deliberated and selected St Cuthbert as the winning school.
St Cuthbert’s received £500 in prize money, generously donated by the event’s sponsor, Commhoist, to fulfil their sustainability plan.
