      Melanie Newman Salon Essentials just a question - after you’ve done the area in front of the eyes with the thinning scissors how do you trim the rest of the sides of his muzzle? I’ve tried and it ended up looking very jagged and blunt looking. Trying to go for a soft look around his muzzle.

    • @MelanieNewmanSalonEssentials
      @MelanieNewmanSalonEssentials  4 года назад +1

      Hi SimMerri, it can be a little difficult to get the sides of the muzzle looking smooth, it is technique and does come with practice . I have attached a link to another video that may help, goes into a little more detail. ruclips.net/video/xd9H76nonhk/видео.html Hope that helps.

    Hi Mel, just wanted to say I am loving your videos as I am about to embark on grooming my cavoodle. My boy has extremely long eyelashes, can they be trimmed or should I be leaving them long?
    Many thanks 🙏

    • @MelanieNewmanSalonEssentials
      @MelanieNewmanSalonEssentials  Год назад +1

      Hi Belinda, thank you so much. Yes, you can leave them long. It’s a personal choice. When you trim the fringe you will need to separate the lashes from the fringe and hold the lashes down and then trim the fringe.

      @MelanieNewmanSalonEssentials  4 года назад +1

      Hi Vera, thanks for your note . The basic principles remain the same for a Cavvy to a Lagotto . The hair is slightly coarser on a Lagotto so it may take a little more trimming to get the face looking neat. Hope that helps

    How do you calm the dog and get it used to grooming. Our cavoodle cant sit still and doesn't like sissors or clipper near his face. We try using treats but go through alot just to keep him still.

      I recommend grooming your dog every day, so he will begin to understand what is happening. and its not a punishment, that it can be a relaxing time. Just start slow and steady, and build up.

    2 questions... why use thinning scissors and not normal scissors? Also, is it a problem if you trim his eye lashes? If so, how do you avoid doing that?

    • @MelanieNewmanSalonEssentials
      @MelanieNewmanSalonEssentials  8 месяцев назад +2

      I use thinners to blend and it gives the coat a more natural falling appearance. It’s not a problem if you trim eye lashes, it’s up to you or the client. Here is a video to keep the lashes-
