Shannon you should do a video comparing faceoff % in the juniors to the NHL, players like Bergeron, Crosby, Toews, O'Reilly, Giroux, Vermette, Kopitar, Datsyuk, Brind'Amour and Sakic. Seems like there’s a lot of talk about Bedard moving to the wings instead of playing center.
I think moving a young player to the wing, at least to start their NHL career, has more to do with the defensive end of things than faceoffs. A centre is responsible to be the forward who comes back on a play first. There are more responsibilities for a centre than just faceoffs. Depending on the player, it’s usually best to start them on the wing, let them get their feet wet and let them learn the 2 way game that is so important in modern hockey. Some players come in and have that end of things down already. Others take time. Everyone is different. Bedard might need a year on the wing. Maybe not.

Sorokin has the better save percentage the 3 years they have both been in the league despite playing for a team nowhere near as good as the rangers are. Sorokin carries the islanders. Also sorokin's playoff numbers are very good. His teams lack of offense is what costs them.
Shesterkin is also the backbone of the Rangers and I’d argue the Islanders are a better defensive team than the Rangers. Shesterkin has proven playoff excellence. Sorokin, although he’s also excellent, doesn’t match up to Igor’s playoff success. Sure, I get it that it’s a team sport and the Islanders didn’t make the playoffs in 2022. But consider this regarding the greatness of Igor. Shesterkin playoff stats - .929 save percentage and 2.45 GAA. Sorokin - .923 save percentage and 2.70 GAA. Shesterkin has also played double the amount of playoff games on, I firmly believe, a worse defensive team. And sorry, he’s got a Vezina with one of the most historic modern goaltender regular seasons. I’ll concede that Sorokin has had two back to back consistent, excellent seasons (he’s truly an electrifying goalie) and Igor had a bit of a let down compared to his Vezina year, but I also think it’s a folly argument to say either Shesterkin or Sorokin is more consistent considering Shesty has only had three full seasons as a starter and Sorokin has only had two full seasons. End of the day, I’ll take the guy with the Vezina in a redraft RIGHT NOW. This will be easier to look back on in 10 years.

10. Schmaltz
Ehlers before Nylander, Kempe and Ekblad imo. Larkin #6, Ehlers #7 would be changes I would make. 2 of the best all round forwards in the NHL for me. Yeah what a strong draft! That is some list of players
Gotta disagree on the Ehlers Nylander take
7 is a stretch, Id take him over Reinhart and prob just after Fiala, McCann
crazy stacked draft actually
Fiala too low in my opinion
what I think would be awesome if you made a board of all these redrafts as if the players were on the teams you picked SO Nylander to canucks Draisatl to Florida and just make a top 10 list for each teams possible captures
From what I remember Chiarelli only drafted David Pastrnak because the Habs wanted him.
For the rangers not having a first round pick, we did pretty good
Canucks traded mcann not happy Is a legendary video
Also Sonny Milano and D'Angelo would be my 31 & 32 if that had existed back then
The pens passed on Pastrnak for Kapanen 😂
I remember don cherry criticizing the oilers because they didn't take Bennett lol leon turned out to be the right choice
I don't listen to anything cherry has to say about the nhl after the year like 2004
There were plenty of Oilers fans who did as well.
@brucemckinlay9739 that's fair but I think his reasoning was more how dare the oilers take this German player over this good Canadian boy. The usual when it comes to cherry 😄
@@JarradBruessel32 Took a couple of decades for a lot of people to catch on that his hockey takes were firmly stuck in the 70s or 80s. I enjoyed that kind of hockey when I was young but give me the skilled league all day everyday.
@@keithck3720it's not just his hockey opinions that are stuck in the stone age.
Looking at everyone the Ducks could have taken instead of Ritchie just makes the pick hurt even more.
olofsson is a good goalscorer, but other parts of his game is not even at an NHL average, late 1st seem fitting to me.
Ive made a video on Sorokin vs Igor and I've looked at all the stats and watched them both play over the past few years I really don't see how people give Sorokin the edge over Igor
All Leafs fans would do Nylander for Ekblad in a heartbeat. That would be one of the best trades possible.
wow, what a stacked draft
Also 3 fowards from LA
Sorry Shannon, but I’m taking the goalie with a Vezina and who is the better playoff performer.
Sorokin has been the backbone for the islanders. Sorry he is more consistent and is all around better
@@RobbLovelace shesterkin played for a team that finished 12 th in goals for. The islanders finished 23rd. I would say sorokin is much more important to the islanders success
@@JarradBruessel32 if you want to have a debate about who was more valuable to their team last season (aka Hart Trophy), I will totally concede that Sorokin was more valuable to his team last season. Still, I’ll take the better playoff goalie with a Vezina.
Nylander over Ekblad? I know Ekblad has been injured, but he’s legit top pairing defenseman.
watching this after bergeron and krejci’s retirement and wondering where boston would be without pasta 😬
Do a Redraft of the 1970 NHL Draft?!
Nylander over Larkin ?
The disrespect to Fiala is incredible. Better than McCann by far...
Funny how the panthers have 3 of the top 4 draft picks from this year’s draft in their current lineup. Hey Ken Holland, Barkov and Cousins for Draisaitl? 😂
better than tv shows
Shannon could have put Sorokin on the Islanders and Igor on the Flames… but he chose chaos lmao far from a rangers or islanders fan
In a universe the Canucks have both Nylander and Pasta..
The Panthers and Sabres have their fingerprints all over this draft lol.
Should do a video on the most accurate draft ever
Can't believe Pastrnak was one pick before Scherbak, or what else Mtl could have had instead like Point, Kempe or a top goalie, sigh
Damn strong Keeper draft
As a Rangers fan I HATE seeing the islanders logo next to Shesty's name
would have love to have Bennet in Columbus. Have you ever done a show on how some teams can never can put together a solid consistent playoff team. some teams seem to rebuild and rebound right away . and others never seem to . I go through the blame game .players coach GM owners refs and of course Bettman . I have been watching every night for the last 35 years . and cant figure it out. I follow the jackets leafs jets flames boston rangers and have just added seattle .do i watch to much hockey .
I would never take McCann over Reinhart. McCann has had 2 good years but before that he didn’t do anything. Reinhart has been consistent throughout his career and puts up more points on average than McCann. Also Reinhart is a smart player offensively and defensively.
Ekblad is expected to be out until christmas. he can't play 82 games. Awareness, All-knowing?
He said IF he can play 82 games. I'm pretty sure he knows Ekblad is out for 6 months...
For me, having Ehlers at #13 is way to low. 0.76 over his career blows Kempe out of the water for instance
Caps fans still want Vrana. Should have never been traded.
Virtanen goes 1st for sure
Toews gotta be top 10. I seriously think he would be the #1 left d on team canada
