The film shows scenes of the National People's Army and Navy marching on Marx-Engels Platz.
The music in the background is called "Sozialistenmarsch"

One of the best features of the National People's Army was how it kept the old Reichswehr / Wehrmacht uniforms!
The Cold War was all about competition: Capitalism vs Communism, East vs. West, North vs South, etc.
East and West Germany both competed against each other to legitimize their claims of being the "Real Germany" and so the East German leadership (With approval of the USSR) allowed the National People's Army to inherit the traditions of the previously defeated Wehrmacht in order to present themselves as the Real Germans, as apposed to the West Germans who modeled their armed forces, the Bundeswehr, on the basis of the American Army.
00:06 the NVA dropped that Russian/Soviet "present arms on the march" drill quickly enough. I never see it performed in future televised parades.
But 00:08 sure looks Russian though. They never dropped that marching style with closed fists..😐
The Russian Bayonet Charge was dropped from the NVA drill regulations sometime in the late 1950's. The Russian "Present Arms" was still kept in the regulations way until the 1970's/80s.
@@jameslongstreet9259 yet their hand swing was not as high and aggressive as the russian counterpart, which i find it a unique combination.

Wait but why is the bayonet charge dropped later on in the NVA?
There is an interesting video on your channel.
But the comments are quite funny, however, as they say in the East: “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.”
?
0:08 There are yesterday's soldiers of the Wehrmacht or even the SS.
Not very likely. The NVA was the sworn enemy of fascism.
0:05 This is used by the PLA and Hongkong Police today.
Russian bayonet charge, the PLA inherited it from the USSR!
@@MaximusandHistory empire russia parade visit president frances march bayonet charge ONE STYLE
@@MaximusandHistory What is the actual movement is called? I've never been able to find the actual name of that particular drill movement. Some videos on RUclips call it "bayonet actions" but that can't be right, as is calling it a Russian bayonet charge. The only thing that seems to be consistent is that it's performed with an eyes right.
ahi estan los que no se cruzaron para el sector norteamericano, ingles y francés.
Y porqué tendrían que hacerlo?

Whats the name of the march, which is plaing after the 7th second in the follow video:

I wonder why the volksmarine didnt do the "russian" Present arms during march, but rather the traditional head turn.
it tied in to their desire to be seen as the “legitimate” german government, using more traditional german army drill instead of the uniforms/drill of their overlords was something they did to be seen as the “real” germany
@@percy6070that’s complete nonsense. Russian drill does also include a head turn

Пикельхельмы и штальхельмы ( м 40 или м 35) выглядели гораздо привлекательнее. Да и вообще это были самые красивые каски.

Those helmets look ridiculous. Looks like they're wearing cooking woks on their head. Should have kept the classic stahl helm.
Хороший технический шлем, проще в производстве и дешевле старой.
I seriously am so annoyed by people always whining about some Helmets that they find ugly. This isn't even your first comment about the NVA Helmets, huh?🙄
They were going to adopt the M35 Stahlhelm series of helmets but the West German Bundesgrenzschutz had already adopted it so the Nationale Volksarmee had to select another helmet.

I can never understand how the people of East Germany, with the bad economic situation, dictatorship, Stasi, poverty, and most importantly, the suppression of protests in 1953 by the Russians and the killing of people in that year, did not try to flee to West Germany by the millions, before When the Berlin Wall was built in 1961, they had blind prejudice and false hope of improving the future in the land of communist dictators, wrong hope of reforming the dictator's rule, everyone who fled to the West would have a better and happier life.
