My ex and I had started dating the fall of 79. He nearly ran us into the side, where the road sharply turns. I'm glad I survived. Not so sure about him. 😅
Locals call this the “Blue Bridge”. This used to be the main way for us to get to Lexington but now we use HWY 34 and go over the new bridge. Herrington Lake is below this bridge not Dix River - GPS has it labeled incorrectly.

I have a vision...cut all the metal off, haul it to a plot and open a outdoor venue of.....maybe food, food truck park, just a social place to hang out. Repurpose folks. Think of the fun and HISTORY it could be used for.
I live up the hill from the bridge. there was nothing wrong with this bridge. The floor needed black topped and Garrard and Boyle counties didn't want to spin any money on it. So the closed it.
The craftsmanship in those old bridges is amazing! The builders had such pride in their work and we're such craftsman! Thanks again
I drove it all the time.. even fished under it. I remember seeing the dix river dried up and atv's driving in the bottom.
