The quality of your work is inspiring. I love this arrangement; I am shocked that you have transcribed it with so much precision. And then made such a perfect video as well! I look forward to seeing what you do next!
Can someone who knows music theory explain exactly why the harmonies Hamauzu utilizes in the middle section (eg. 1:24, 1:28, 1:45) sounds so quintessentially Japanese?
Lot's of Major 9ths, 11ths and 7ths as well as use of quartal (4ths) and quintal (5hs) spacings, which are commonly used in pop music in Japan. It's also common in the west but I think Japan loves it for some reason (Joe Hisaishi used it for his Ghibli movies and modern contemporary like Yoshimatsu used it often). It gives a bright and powerful sonority that seems to be quite Japanese (modern of course). Don't know why it's such a trend in Japan. I would say they were influenced by the music of Impressionistic and modern France, these harmonies were first widely used then... Just my guess though, hope it helps :]
0.75倍速にすると原曲くらいのスピードになってめっちゃいい
