So many great memories of DSR in the 80's. You kids and your mega parks have no idea what core really is. (or constant foot pain for that matter) RIP Norm.
We always went to Donner because it was cheaper. In the late 80's they were one of the few area resorts who allowed boarding everywhere. Love that place, its very small too. ALways a place where guys were burning weed and building jumps at the backside of the top.
I’m a baker local grew up in Bellingham and ride every year. Gotta say I love the difference in culture you have down there. Respect to all the old timers and pros that were pushing the limit before I was even born. Thank you all. God bless.
I've always wanted to try snowboarding, and I lived in Reno for a little over 16 years yet I never did. The video kinda makes me wish I would've given it a shot.
I am a GEN X Punk from South Cali and had one of those old Sims boards called The Blade. Left my skis in a closet and started powder chasing all over. Have friends in Tahoe and a friend with a cabin there chasing powder snowboarding and surfing with. Still Punk and the same.
I could have watched another 5 episodes of that righteous shit....I learned to ski in Tahoe as a kid (Kirkwood 86, huge blizzard on valentines day weekend & we got snowed in up there for a week! Still remember hiking up chair 5 and skijoring off the back of a LandCruiser on nordic skis to Caples Inn).
my first winter in Tahoe Donner in 93 94 I was hitching a ride to Squaw from Truckee and Dave Seoane picked me up in his little Toyota Tacoma..wasn't exactly sure it was him until we stopped for gas and I saw letterhead from Rossignol on his front seat next to me addressed to a Mr Dave Seoane lol was a quick ride but Dave was a great host for the 10 minute ride down to Squaw
Vice you've done it with this documentary. i love Tahoe and its my favorite place in the world. its good to see you guys cover something where i've been to and see you guys experience what i have. this is a great story about the snowboarding and overall awesomeness that is Tahoe. thanks for this.
man i hate it how losers always invade our shit. i mean skate is full of gamers n mindcraft geeks. snow is full of helmet wearin fags. i cant even comment on parkour vids anymore cos is literally full of nerds. martial arts has alot. moto is one of the last things we got cos its so dangerous. i just hate it. i mean its good cos it pushes us to do better. but it can be hard to no ur friends. just look at older people how alot have kids n stop dressing cool and acting cool, its cos they were fakes. i think only a small percent of cool people are actually cool. i do these things dress this way cos i want to for me so i no when im an old man i'll still be sort of like this. u see old people the majority are losers but young people the majority are cool cos most are fakes. sorry for the rant.
My first board was a Burton Woody 145 that I bought from my friend's older brother in '89... My first day out at a sledding hill I built a kicker and repeatedly ate shit at first. By the end of the day I was doing some decent methods and nose grabs. There were actually parents and other kids lined up watching me and cheering and stuff. It was a lot easier to impress people on a snowboard back then... All you had to do was get some air. Landing didn't even matter.
if there could be a d.i.y. style pipe at every resort, than we can make it up as we go. I'm really hyped on this idea of letting the riders develop the lines. This may be the fundamental difference between ski ng that spun the culture along. I want this because i snow-skate and I face similar discriminations riding strapless in a strapped in world. this speaks to me. Dope! Thanks for making this. Motivated
missed out but if its a yearly event gimme the time time n day n Ill get to diggin! Did enough the last two years with all that snow so can't wait! Shoot me a date!
Grew up snowboarding at this place, lived right around the corner in serene lakes, gotta say, I’m truly blessed

>mfw "2 or 3mph breeze." as you can hear the wind and see a flag in the background that looks like at least 15-20mph.
