The most mysterious case of a younger man having a successful marriage to an older woman is Raymond Chandler and Cissy Pascal. After Cissy's death, Raymond built her up into an almost mythical figure, keeping much of her true self a mystery to the point where it's sometimes hard to tell if he truly loved her or simply idolised her. It's both unsettling and fascinating.
