Song: Layla
Artist: Derek and the Dominos

What'll you do when you get lonely
And nobody's waiting by your side?
You've been running and hiding much too long.
You know it's just your foolish pride.
Layla, you've got me on my knees.
Layla, I'm begging, darling please.
Layla, darling won't you ease my worried mind.
I tried to give you consolation
When your old man had let you down.
Like a fool, I fell in love with you,
Turned my whole world upside down.
Chorus
Let's make the best of the situation
Before I finally go insane.
Please don't say we'll never find a way
And tell me all my love's in vain.
Chorus
Chorus
One of the most legendary guitar riffs
One of the best intros of all time.
I love how they put "(Song continues without any lyrics)" instead of "(instrumental)"
To be fair they're not wrong
Lol that's funny. It's my favorite part of the song too
"Instrumental" does not reveal that there will be no further lyrics until end of song
Everytime my friend steve and I hung out during college, this song or the unplugged version came on. Now that hes gone, this song makes me remember our friendship even better. R.I.P. man, you were an awesome friend.
This song also makes me think of good times & sad times. Layla came out when I was 15 and had just started dating the guy of my dreams. I had loved Ron since I was 10 yrs old. But, he didn't even know that I existed until I was 15 and he was 17. Ron became the love of my life. We went out for 2 yrs until it all came to a sudden end one beautiful summer evening. Ron was killed in a car accident, and my world collapsed. He was only 19. Ron and I had listened to Layla at his house and mine nearly every day; it became our love song. Layla brings me many sweet memories too. R.I.P. my first love..you meant the world to me.

This is sad reading your story just made me cry, you will see him again
My daughter name is Leila, engage to Marine, everything my daughter's doing doctor said she would never do.
One of the greatest guitar riffs if not the greatest in rock history
so true
Love how it starts out with the guitar and the words and how much passion he got when he sings it, I wish I had a guy in my life like him❤️
A guy who stole his best friend's wife n dumped her in the end doesn't deserve a woman's love like u.
I love when you can hear the singer of any song just goes at it, just absolutely belting out the lyrics, tone be damned, gets me every time
love the transition at 3:14 FREAKING BEST SONG EVER. WHY CANT MUSIC GO BACK TO THE WAY IT USED TO BE?!
Layla reminds myself of one girl that ended up getting married because of her parents pressuring her. She was almost 2 yrs older and married a good friend that I knew very much before her and I was child and he a teen. By the time they got married he was past 30 and I, 17. She still tried to flirt with me after marriage and children. Told her to forget it. Though she is my first infatuation love, still loved her.
You are noble. Not many men can do that.
Man, this song always puts me in a crying mood.
Makes me wanna drive fast 🤣
This is hands down one of the greatest guitar riffs of all time. It also reminds me of Good fellas . R.I.P Ray Liotta.
it doesn't matter how old you are, you should be listening to this all the time!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you RockinBassPlayer3 for this awesome video!! Every time I hear this song it takes me back to 1976 when my father passed at the young age of 59 from a heart attack. I played this song on my stereo as I was getting ready for his funeral. I was a 19 year old young lady going thru a tough time in my life. It makes me smile and cry when I hear it now, I miss my father, but it brings me peace to know we will be together one day xx
My all time favorite song love the piano!!!!
Piano and Duane

My favorite part
This was my favorite pop/ rock song in 1994 when I was 17 and even though I have listened to some great bands this is simply the best piece of music around. They bloody well nailed it !!!!!! Now Im going to go listen to Wonderful Tonight
in my opinion, the best rock & roll song ever recorded! hands down
One of three Led Zeppelin Stairway to Heaven Queen Bohemian Rhapsody top three of the time Justin opinion
Agreed
One of the greatest ever.
Think Clapton was at his best during the Derek & the Dominos era. Playing with Skydog on Layla no doubt lifted his game some too.
I've always loved this song 1st time I heard it!! All songs in 70's & 80's were about stories not screaming and cussing that all the shitty music they play nowadays!!! We had best music that ever was!! Elvis was the pioneer for rock n roll back when he gave us his beautiful voice he had!!! R.I.P. ELVIS, ALL MUSICIANS THAT HAVE GONE BFORE YOU AND AFTER YOU!!!❤💙💖💋🙏🏼👼😭😭😭😭
Im 15, and i stand with you, i grew up with your music and love the past
This makes me wanna watch "Goodfellas" over and over again...
This is my favorite song in the WHOLE world.
Clapton = Legend

awesome song!!! my mom grew up listening to eric clapton since she was my age and hes been her idol. shes 55 now. im 17 and i love him so much!!! i wish the music they play now was more like this :(
So I just heard this on the radio and I’m really glad I was able to find it by looking for some of the lyrics. The melodies are catchy, the lyrics have meaning, the riffs are superb, and then that piano part is just.. ah, the outro is a whole other song, and I love that about this song! Eric Clapton does not know how to be anything less than legendary.
The most beautiful chorus piano music in my life time.
+Deborah Kidd-Howell Written by Jim Gordon who's in jail for killing his mother. It is said Jim Gordon stole it from ex-girlfriend Rita Coolidge who was never credited for it.
+Tony Manero I thought that murder took place in 1983? While this song was released in 1971..
+GravelWorker he's not saying Jim Gordon was in jail when making this song he's saying that Jim Gordon is in jail now.
Trapolin Alexander Oh ya my mistake sorry about that.
Piano coda- Rita Coolidge
Thank you for the best version of this song and the lyrics👍
i believe the guitar solo on this is mostly duane allman.

When this song was on the radio I'd recorded it on to a cassette tape and played this song endlessly until one night my brother came into my room and took the tape away. 😳
Ok, maybe it was a bit late on a school night. 😂
This guitar is f*king nostalgic
You ever unable to appreciate a song till you understand the mood it wanted? This is honestly the only song that can explain how I feel right now
I've felt that way for over 20 years.
@@joerosa8378 Stay strong budy, I'll keep you in my prayers.
Thank you for signing this song for me Stu. You really saved my life.
I believe "your old man" was the lead guitarist for this little indie band from the 60's....their name escapes me.

*Internet high-five*
another song got me trill~
RIP RAY LIOTTA, A REAL GOODFELLA
layla!
The Layla in this song won´t be just and give him a chance even if he´s a real angel towards her. Because she´s a religious muslim girl -and really proud over that! Meaning she´s really proud over following an unequal religion that says her brother can marry a girl from ANY of the world religions, while she must find a Mr muslim right guy to marry. If she doesen´t find her soulmate amongst muslim guys, then she won´t get to grow up sexually and emotionally in any form of sexual relationship and she will have to stay a smartass kid, far behind most others her age... All according to her religion.
Thanks. Nice name.
Remember Duane Allman R.I.P.
Just posted this to my Facebook. xD
I really like the whole song, but more the instrumental part..!!
Someone explain why it says writers J.D. Souther, Glenn Frey, Don Henley...this was written by Eric Clapton and Jim Gordon.
hahahaha the JB can go to hell part made me laugh for some reason. Its cool you don't follow trends but rather just like the music because its pleasant.
@rayofsunshine108 I listen to it, its great. Derek Clapton (haha) with a song for a beatles ex. Its a beautiful song... The guitar and piano and lyrics are sublime... Layla is one of my all time faves... and im a young one. 24
