I had a Vietnamese giant centipede, and when I got him I thought I would eventually get over my nervousness with him, but I never did. I had literal nightmares about him all of the time. I thought he was so awesome and I loved keeping him, but he just freaked me out. For some strange reason I never even considered keeping small centipedes instead. These are really cute and cool.
😩 that's horrifying. When I got my first OW tarantula I had a couple dreams about her getting out, lol. I would wake in the middle of the night and check on her to make sure she was still in her enclosure. I hate centipedes...they scare the sh*t out of me.
The only thing i had nightmares of were about the roaches escaping and taking over the whole house 😅😂😂 Not once a bad dream or worry about my tarantulas
100% on your comment about if you make the enclosure nice then the invert is less intimidating. I get comments a lot on my enclosures and how pretty the spiders are in them. Esp my avic avic, Chanel, who has an arboreal enclosure with a pothos, a few fake flowers and some jewelry and crystals at the bottom and a red bow tied around the bottom. My co-workers were all "look at her adorable pink pedicure" instead of "ewww a scary spider'. Wish we could post pics here.
This arachnophobe in Alaska wants to thank you for being one of the primary reasons I've been able to take progressive steps to get through my irrational fear. Watching your videos started it all, and I think I have to say that the *adorable* jumping spiders are a "gateway spider." After that, the sheer beauty and grace of tarantulas make a fascinating journey. Since watching, I've been able to get close enough to house spiders to capture and release outside, alive and well. Watching how you create a habitat for spiders, I got an appropriate container at the pet store, used natural dirt (no chemicals) and decorated it carefully. I then caught a hacklemesh weaver that was on my kitchen floor and carefully put him (small for a hacklemesh, so I assumed male but could have just been young) in the habitat. I immediately bought some small roaches appropriate for his size, and to my delight, he *pounced* and eagerly fed! I made sure he had a water source, and I had him for about a week. I never saw him in the habitat after the first couple days, but I kept seeing more and more webbing. So I made sure he had both a food and a water source, and then I released him out into my yard so that he could live out his life. This was such a major step for me in overcoming my phobia, and it's a lot to do with you, so THANK YOU! I've been looking up a ton of sources to learn the different species, and when I caught a hacklemesh, I researched how to care for it, though I always intended to simply observe and release.
The little speckled plants are called Polka Dot Plants, they get pretty big when they are allowed to. it probably wont live in that small enclosure. It wont have enough room. the deep purple plant is called schumi red peperomia. THey like bright indirect light, moist soil and warmer places. THe polka dot plants look best in low light but will bend to search for light. Indirect bright sunlight is best for them with temps over 60F, well drained but moist soil. I hope this helps some :)
Me too!! Though I have seen polkadot plants in fairly small terrariums, it seems like if they get enough light they won't get too leggy. They grow very quickly when happy but are easy to kill. I have mine under a grow light which seems pretty good. I think the peperomia is going to do great though!
I live in Missouri, and we’ve had a couple House Centipedes. They are really small with long legs. We leave them alone, because they kill things like flies, termites, and other nasty house bugs. And they’re pretty cute!
Tarantula Kat as a arachnaphobe watching your channel is changing my opinion of spiders. I am literally falling in love with jumping spiders. I don't think I could do a big Tarantula but, totally could vibe with a jumping spider. Thank you for helping me see the beauty in spiders.
I used to have severe arachnophobia. I’ve made so much progress thanks to this channel and now I’m getting my very own sling tarantula. Going to get a Brazilian black hopefully female sling. I’m also going to get a tarantula cribs enclosure for it so I will be using your code. I’m so excited haha never thought I would be saying that I’m excited to have a pet spood.
Honestly, your videos have helped me get over my fears of spiders. My mom had a small jumping spider in her car and instead of freaking out, I just scooped the little guy up and put him outside after talking to him in baby talk.
Polka dot plants are cool, I always get a whole load of fungus gnats with them which is annoying 🙈 but yeah with good lighting they should grow. The spiders are so cute!
Those little jumpers!! I'm watching to see if I have any in my house this year, haven't seen any yet... The centipedes... Pretty, cute and a little intimidating! Their houses look great!
I found one in my house the other day! I caught it out of the corner of my eye and I said omg how did my spider get out?! I have a male and a female regal jumping spider. And for a second I thought the male had escaped. But no it was another male regal jumping spider. I honestly couldn't believe it because I've seen other types of jumping spiders in my area but I had never seen a regal. So keep an eye out. They're starting to come out!
Your videos have taught me to be gentle and kind with spiders. Still afraid of the larger lens but I have a much better appreciation for the smaller ones. I now take them outside instead of killing them if I find them inside the home and such.
Everything is so beautiful 🤍 needed this today, had a rough week, lost our Great Dane very suddenly and this really helped, very excited about all the new additions!
How did you make centipedes cute? They are the one "creepy crawly" I just cannot do and I told myself not skip this video and maybe it would help me overcome that... seriously, that first one was adorable! But I dont know I can compose myself if I run into one at random - but watching yours from afar is ok.
The jumping spiders are adorable!! I really want at least one. I want one so much!! The centipedes, oh my gosh, I had chills the entire time!! They are so creepy to me!! They are my biggest fear!! Millipedes, not even a little bit afraid, but the others, heck no!! Nice video though! Thank you!!!
I really think that your channel is a find since I discovered maybe 1 and ½ year ago 2 years ago maybeee. But you deserve so much better. You are doing a amazing work always so interesting and good quality really keep going. I'm sick and since that time wheen I was/am alone in home unemployed and I love seeing your videos, and from another creators too, but thank you for all the good content ❤️
Seeing a new view of centipedes would be awesome! I used to be pretty afraid of spiders until I started learning about them, maybe it’d be the same with centipedes?
Omg they are just too cute. How could anyone be afraid of those little jumping spiders. The orange one is gonna be the little punk rocker of your crew their. Wanted to go travel abroad.
Super fast. We have alot of jumping spiders here in the pnw and everytime my mom sees one she wants me to kill it. I just pick them up and place them in the flowers because they are just adorable.
Ahhh what a cutie!! The one that looks like Chai and Pumpkin is so precious! I'm getting my tarantula on Tuesday as a early bday gift for myself my birthday is on the 9th ^^ I'm getting a Chaco Golden Knee tarantula I'm so happy and centipedes are cool but not for me hehe to fast. Love your videos along with Tarantula Collective ^^
I see several comments going over the plants but I'll mention that my polka dot plant takes to pruning really well and keeping it small enough to stay in the enclosure shouldn't be difficult but they grow SUPER fast in the summer months with bright indirect light so you'll probably need to be trimming weekly at the least during that time.
Be sure not to over water the substrate. Mycosis is a major issue for centipedes and it will kill them if not managed. Fine Cross ventilation holes half way up the sides from the substrate surface will insure good air movement. The Pure Life channel is very well versed and has centipede care down to a science. I recommend watching his vids.
"Those little ones are quite "jumpey", but that's where their name comes from I guess?" :> luckily, you could catch them all. They are all quite charming especially the one who looks like "Chai" I always hoped for you would get a centipede even if it is just a small one. And even though so many are afraid of them, i found them fascinating and cute and pretty ^^ In another video i saw something that might be helpful to you. Then, use your brush to coax the spider into it, and once relocated, use the brush from the other side to get the spider out again. You should be able to massage the entire root ball out of the pot this way without risking any damage to the plant or its roots!

Another amazing video. Just in reply to your question about what plants to use you can't go wrong with tradescantia (spiderwort...yup, fitting name). If it snaps just put the bits in water and it'll root and make a whole new plant. Hope this helps :) Keep making fantastic videos.
I am not a centipede person at all. Even the UK ones, which are small. The unboxing of the jumping spiders I loved, but I do love jumping spiders, and their cute little faces.
Centipede Kat!! Hmmm, not a bad handle, could work out for you as a side channel ;) You're killing it with your enclosure game, those Jumping spiders are going to be super cozy! Not to mention the new centipede display cases (Good find!) Those jumpers are very personable, their eyes really regard you with intelligence it seems...each one exudes its own character with those adorable little faces!!
4:16 - 4:32 her name should be Chaos 😂 just instant chaos with her 5:18 omg I wasn’t gonna keep trying to name multiple spiders but this one is totally a Calico 🥺🧡 how stinking cute eeeeeep okokok done!!
Those plants are going to get HUGE and quick! I plant them in my window boxes every year. They are annuals , they need some 🌞. Then they get huge. You should put just 1 plant in each container.
Hey Kat, could you do a video on how best to clean out an old enclosure for a new spider? Do you need to clean the enclosure out and put new soil and everything in it for a new spider after the previous one dies? How best to store used enclosures? I haven't seen any information on this part of having spiders. Thanks so much!
The jumping spiders are SO cute! The centipedes, not so much lol. I mean I would never kill one. I would just be screaming and freaking out while I catch it to gently re-locate it outside 😉 Cool video!
i love jumping spiders but centipedes creep me out.. i think i honestly just dont know enough about them because i used to be terrified of spiders and now that ive learned about them i love them
I've heard that centipedes can give nasty bites! Especially those Giant Desert Centipedes that their bite feels like fire. Or something similar to the Gila Monster bite, like it's lava. Idk if that goes for all centipedes but I'd be careful nonetheless! I have always liked centipedes and millipedes tho :)
Lil red crinkly plant looks like a Peperomia caperata "Schumi Red" (or as they should be called imo: peperoni plants) and the other plants are I think Hypoestes phyllostachya (Polka Dot plant). They both like humidity and indirect light, so here's hoping they did well with your new leggy friends! c:
In case no one commented on plants, the 2 similar are called “nerve plants”, need water but low light. The other “pepromia” may be ok if it gets some light and not too wet.
When I was about 13, I always ate Frosted Flakes with bananas for breakfast. One time I was eating them, I bit down and something hurt my gum above my front tooth, I bit down again and it really hurt! I thought it was a hard piece of cereal so I reached in, took it out and it was a damn spider, wiggling like crazy!! Needless to say, I smashed the crap out of it!!! Them I did a freaked out dance around the kitchen while my mom laughed her ass off!!
The 2nd centipede you unboxed, we have the same ones in Japan and they get quite impressive both in color and size. I got bit once by a little one. The last jumping spider is really gorgeous but American jumping spiders seems bigger than those we have in japan. I've got like 4 of them living freely in the house, catching mosquitoes, they're very cute and curious.
The jumping spiders are absolutely Adorable 💯... Makes me want to try again to get a female . I got baby jumpers and all 3 matured Male . Think it may be time to try again... Great Video Kat!!!! ... Centerpedes 🐛are a little intimidating to me but I will be very interested to see how you handle keeping them. I am quite curious... ❤❤❤
Thanks homie !
thank you tommy

Lol same, had a cherry red Malaysian millipede and would have nightmares about him escaping and crawling into bed to bite me
😩 that's horrifying. When I got my first OW tarantula I had a couple dreams about her getting out, lol. I would wake in the middle of the night and check on her to make sure she was still in her enclosure. I hate centipedes...they scare the sh*t out of me.

Lov u Kat. I just gotta say this. NO, NOT THE CENTIPEDE, ANYTHING BUT THE CENTIPEDE!!
I will never get tired of that cute nonsense jumping spiders do where they like fully move their body to look up at you 😭💕 So ridiculously endearing.
Well, their eyes are sort of fixed in their little heads, so if they want to focus on you, that's their only option. lol

Okay, the little Pumpkin x Chai Halloween lookin one my favorite 🥹🧡
The dark purple plant is a peperomia. They like humidity but don’t water the leaves directly or they’ll melt. But a fun plant to say the least

Caught a jumping spider yesterday. Filmed a jumping spider eating a stink bug yesterday at work.
I'm in love with the jumping spiders , the centipedes are a beautiful color.
Thanks to Kat I’m over my phobia of spiders...centipedes, not so much.😬
Everyone made me so paranoid about my centipede escaping so he’s in like a full security jail now haha

Spicy worms !!! 🤣🤣 Love this video Kat!!!
3 weeks from now…”so I got a Scolopendra….” 😂

Love love love the jumping spiders, they are just so incredibly beautiful.mow, centipedes, uuuuuuugh. You are so brave kat
I can't find the video I had seen it in but I contacted an etsy shop, Spooder Space, for a custom enclosure for my first ever cutie jumping spider.
That orange jumper looked like it had some purple around its face and I loooove it

"Those little ones are quite "jumpey", but that's where their name comes from I guess?" :> luckily, you could catch them all. They are all quite charming especially the one who looks like "Chai"
I always hoped for you would get a centipede even if it is just a small one. And even though so many are afraid of them, i found them fascinating and cute and pretty ^^
In another video i saw something that might be helpful to you.
Take a large water bottle and cut it in half and take the upper part. Then, use your brush to coax the spider into it, and once relocated, use the brush from the other side to get the spider out again. This method look quite practical, especially if you're dealing with bigger spiders.
Take care of your new cute worms with legs ;)
Just wanted to drop a quick tip for removing the plants a little easier: instead of grabbing them from the stem and yanking them up, tip the pot onto its side and gently squeeze all over the sides of the pot, starting at from the bottom and working your way up. You should be able to massage the entire root ball out of the pot this way without risking any damage to the plant or its roots!
"Centipedes are just spicy worms" I'm stealing that one.
I’m here for the cutie pie jumpers 🥰🥰😍 love these videos
I think Petko knows he doesn’t have a copyright on sand😂
That’s what’s up. I use those target food containers too for my fossorial or arboral juveniles.
I have severe arachnophobia but I watched this spider attack an ant the other day. It was one of coolest things I’ve seen. If spiders are domesticated and in an enclosure, I think I would be alright but I’m still afraid of the wild ones
Spicy worms! Thats perfect
I am a houseplant lover and i think some neon pathos would be a great contrast in there, or a brazil philodendron would be really pretty for the centipedes too!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really dig the black and white jumping spider.
Hold on Kat I got goosebumps cause of the centipede 😁 okay I'm ready.
The beginning of this vid made me laugh, lol "Ive been doing STUFF Lori, THANGS." lol If you know you know.
