    Thanks for this. Much better view of the procedure than those videos done with the car on ramps. I'll be crawling under the car, but now I know what direction everything faces.

    For those of you who are OCD about torque specs like me:
    Oil filter- 12NM, ft lb, 108 in lb
    Oil drain plug- 40NM, 30ft lb, 360 in lb

    I would recommend using eye protection (oil can splatter and screws can hit you in the eye). I'd also apply a small amount of oil on the new oil gasket (edge) before. you put it on. Gives you about a 99.99999% chance of no leaks.

      Thanks for the input. It's always a challenge while recording to remember to share the common things that are done while working on cars. Thanks for the input, will be sure to mention these things in the future.

    Great video, but the only two things I would suggest be done different is when installing the new filter, line a light coating of fresh oil on the gasket and hand tighten the oil filter on by strength. The filter won’t fall off… although others think it would. This eliminates the issue of not being able to get the filter off next oil change.

      Thanks for the insight. Your points are valid and are things that I also practice myself although some are not comfortable with a hand tightened filter for the reason you mentioned. 😄

    The title of the video is incorrect. This is not a differential fluid change. It is an engine oil change. Most books and mechanics recommend installing a new crush washer on the drain plug and lubricating the rubber gasket on the oil filter with some engine oil. Thanks for this and the NSX videos.

    • @btbuildthings
      @btbuildthings  2 года назад +1

      That's for bringing that to my attention. I put the wrong info when I uploaded. You are correct about the crush washer, forgot to mention that during the video. I keep tons of them around and swap them out while doing these jobs. Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated. 😀

    Thanks for the video man! At least changing the oil looks pretty easy on these. Changing the air filter on the other hand is like a five step pain in the ass.

      This has definitely been one of the most requested videos for the RDX. I will need to find someone who will lend me one so I can get these done for RDX owners.

      I've had this tool for a while and don't remember where I got it from. The OEM honda filter is listed as a 65MM so any 65MM oil filter wrench should work for you. Oil Filter Wrench (65mm) Part # 07AAA-PLCA100 for use with 15400-PLM-A01 or 15400-PLM-A02 Honda oil filters.

    How about resetting the warning message on the screen after you change the oil?

    • @btbuildthings
      @btbuildthings  Год назад

      Completely forgot to add this to the video. Here are the steps:
      Set the power mode to ON (do not start the engine).
      Press the right selector wheel until the content is displayed.
      Roll the right selector wheel until the Maintenance screen is displayed.
      Press and hold the right selector wheel for about 10 seconds to enter the reset mode.
      Roll the right selector wheel to select a maintenance item to reset, or to select All Due Items (You can also press the right selector wheel to the left to end the process).
      Press the right selector wheel to reset the selected item.
      Repeat from step 4 for other items you wish to reset.
      Turn the ignition off and then start the engine to verify the indicator has been reset.

    • @davidsteckley8846

      @@btbuildthings 1 I like euro oils for the mfg specs. I like the higher HTHS, offers far superior timing chain wear. ACEA specs are far Superior to API. I also like the higher ZDDP in a 40wt. Remember the hottest part of the engine is under the pistons. 20wt oil boils and not much an oil film.
