I remember when RUclips was first kicking off and it felt like we were really sticking it to the man. We finally had entertaining content without being subjected to commercials. It was good while it lasted. It's nice to see there are still a few hold outs. Good on ya, Mark.

I think for me it’s not the fact it’s slightly annoying having sponsored segments, it’s that I lose that little bit of trust in the RUclipsr. Once your subconscious questions if the hilarious 20 minute video was just a subtle ad for zwift, it’s suddenly far less enjoyable.

You have really helped me Mark...Little snippets from each video to get a sub 45 minutes at Winchester 10k today ( came 113 Dan , ) starting from not drinking enough water ( you covered that so check ) , I forgot my garmin watch and instead of getting down about it , I just cracked on ( you covered not always needing fancy tech so check )... I stayed close to runners ahead for pace and if they dropped back I ran behind someone quicker , ( yep, you covered that in a park run video ) , confidence and keep pushing, ( yep..covered that ).. basically, running a decent Winchester 10k today you inspired me and the advise really helped.. Third time running it and gone from 48 minutes and 47 minutes to 43 52.. So thank you :)

Wow I never thought about buying a BMW but after watching this video I think I NEED to buy a BMW. Knowing that BMW are nice folks really helps me make my decision to buy a BMW. Owning a BMW would certainly make life better. I am grateful for BMW.

I must say the squarespace ad reads with your son were some of my favorite moments ;-). I get that it would seriously compromise your authenticity. You rock.
All of this is why you are my absolute favourite sport/health/fitness channel. I just love your deadpan honesty about all this stuff. AG1 is terrifyingly expensive, and pops up on so many of my other channels, so i'm glad you didnt go down that route, for all the reasons you explained. Keep up the awesome (no BS) content
Im glad I found your channel this year. Ive been inspired to start running again. A sport I lost passion for a few years back. Although im not as good as I was before, the dedication is there now and the understanding that slow progress comes with unforgettable memories. Thank you

I mostly watch ultra-running, running, more running on here stuff but I keep watching your stuff because you seem a genuine bloke and I totally respect your non-advertising stance but your “if it’s good and you want to sponsor me BMW vibe”. Honesty and humour works for me. Keep up the good work- what I like most is when I click your videos I’m never certain what I’m going to get and on bloody RUclips that’s a bonus as you haven’t let me down yet… you make me laugh!

Mark, I’ve been watching for a couple of years and always admire your whit and honesty. My personal view is that we will start to see a change in the influencer community the more obvious it becomes that they are taking the coin . I’ve read recent articles on this which confirm that attitudes are beginning to shift to a more honest broker. You could see an uptick in your Adsense revenues when that shift gathers pace. Anyway keep doing what you do I for one love it 👍
Being financially independant (I'm guessing) gives you the option of making unbiased, awesome content. Really respect the way you do things.

I really like the way you're creating your content. What I also especially admire is how you underline constantly that you show what's right for you and it might not for others. This might come natural for you but seems special in a world where everyone is shouting at you "YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG!!!". Maybe just the benefit from watching content made by a grown up 😅

I found you a few weeks ago after I decided to complete a couch to 5k plan and do a 5k in April. I don’t need to lose any weight, I just need to get my heart rate up because walking doesn’t do that for me anymore. It wasn’t until watching you and other channels that I learned you don’t actually stay slow as molasses when you run. You can actually become at least okay if you just run enough. So now in my mid 40s, I’m just going to do some training and see what happens. Also I ended I going through some of your older videos where you were obsessed with your zwift and I am now going to purchase one I can hook up a bike to. You are a fitness influencer, just not an obnoxious one who shills products that are stupid and counterproductive. I’ve been wanting to buy a bike and commute to work, but I was worried I wouldn’t like it. Now the bike will serve a purpose even if I don’t ride very often outdoors. So for what’s worth you have made a positive impact on one random lady in Texas. ❤

Thank you for not forcing adverts on people. For a while I paid for RUclips premium just to not have to see ads… but then every video had other sponsored ads in there, which were much longer and annoying (which I skip but it’s still annoying) so I figured it wasn’t worth the money to skip the first 5 second ad at the beginning but not the others. I just watch less RUclips now and watch things I pay for but that are completely ad free…. And your channel ;)

I actually love watching the ads on Internet Historian's channel. They're hilarious. Probably the only time I don't skip through obvious ads. I recommend giving them a watch.

There are several reasons I love your channel, Mark. The main reasons are authenticity and quality content. There are many channels nowadays sacrificing those two things for views and money. Not saying that is a bad thing, but I enjoy knowing when I click on one of your videos I'm not going to be bombarded with sponsorships, merch, or a content creator branded food item. The only thing I'm bombarded with is authenticity and quality content. Keep it up mate!

Great video and in an odd sort of irony unlike other fitness influencers offering commission codes on stuff they probably don't even think about outside of the money it makes them I actually look into the things you've said you do like, which now I think of it is an absolute genius sales pitch, if other companies start using big lumps falling off a bike in their garage interspersed with 80's movie clips to sell stuff my bank account is in more trouble than your betting odds with your kids 😂

Was cool to see the analytics of your channel going from nothing to something. I subbed a few years ago when I as looking into getting my Fenix 6 then ended up watching a bunch more. Loved that add in of Arnie's watch in commando. I remember thinking that watch was so cool as a kid.

Appreciate the integrity and honesty - think all too many people don't understand what YT is and its relationship between the "creator", YT, and potential sponsors etc.. Maybe Americans are ok with this, given the proliferation of ads within all media channels, it just feels odd over here and false. As for the term "influencer" it's truly awful, I hate how we seem to revere them.... they are just human adverts.
The only creator that dedicates time and effort into using the sponsored ad to make the video better is internet comment etiquette. Appreciate you!

When I trust a content creator (or think I do) I like when they have advertisements because it teaches me what products might help me in my fitness journey.
