This movie not winning awards for music is surprising... and more surprising is Beiman winning music awards. That is why Filmfare has lost all credibility now... they were not fare ever.

The music is simply outstanding. even today it sounds so fresh and so meaningful. the songs are real gems but no award at all . I think the contemporaries of RD Burman were very jealous of him and his immense popularity. By quoting his fast numbers (dum maro dum, piya tu ab to aaja, duniya mein etc) the detractors spoiled the minds of people by spreading news that RD Burman was killing Indian Music and ensured that he never got an award. They involved in lot of manipulation by using money, power etc. But subsequently Filmfare had to create a special award in the name of RD Burman itself..
In fact,All awards went to "Beiman" only because of the dirty tactics and politics of Bharat Kumar and S J. , That's why Pran Saab had not accepted his awards in protest.
