I have ZERO interest to go in a submarine, space shuttle, or anything that explores something I can just see on RUclips in my living room. There is a tour of the Titanic on RUclips that's about an hour and a half long. I couldn't watch it for more than a few minutes because it was too scary to me. I guess in my old age I've become a whimp because I don't even like driving that much anymore, and I used to love it.

I would like to add that Stockton wanted to purchase a submarine but was told only a limited quantity were available for purchase. He wanted to preserve history for all of us, including his wife; a descendant of some of those lost on Titanic. Waiting years wasn’t an option as Titanic will not be recognizable too many more years. He was no more crazy than the Wright Brothers, Elon Musk, Richard Branson etc… Many inventors or innovators have died doing what they love. The parachute is one of the greatest inventions of all time even though its inventor died while demonstrating it. Some people have just been lucky. NASA knew what they were doing, yet they lost two different orbiter’s catastrophically. And we all know what happened to Titanic. It’s easy to look like a genius you die.

An engineer I am not but neither am I an extreme risk taker with experimental new ideas that others in the industry say is not proven to be safe for whatever purpose it ŵas intended for. The world's navy branches have been building steel pulled submarines for years with but a few mishaps, that alone should have told the builder something, "if it works dont' mess with it".

Something I find frustrating is how this will bring about new regulations that could potentially stem innovation. The fact that Titan managed 13 dives to the Titanic is proof of concept. If someone was to develop the construction and test it properly, establish limits and ensure suitable safety and communication equipment is installed, there are certainly scenarios where a similar 'type' of vessel could be advantageous.
Had Rush approached it in the correct way, shelved his ego and not let greed make his decisions, Titan could have been the genesis. Instead, he has probably single handedly ended any advances that could have been made in composite pressure hulls for deeper depths.

@ElizzzaB Yes, you're possibly right, except it didn't fail. There were many corners cut in the development of Titan, which is what I meant by saying "if someone was to........and ensure suitable safety....."
The point is, it did work. That is proof of concept. From there on, it should have been properly tested and developed to fully understand it. It also shouldn't have such an egotistical CEO.

We dont belong down there and what was there to see really, it was just a thrill and an ability to do something " out of this world" experience. I dont get how PH, as he has been presented, a well renowned explorer, felt safe to go with the Titan, he must have been well aware of the skepticism and the critics from all over regarding this submersible. And Stockton...what to say about him. He was way out of his head from the start it seems. Having dreams and ambitions and wanting to stand out and make a mark as its been said, being innovative. The ecocomy spinning out of control and with that, all safety matters as well. Stuck with something that has cost a fortune and the urge to prove yourself and the "nesessity" to make profit from all of it .He was pretty much chasing passengers it seems, like he was desperate. That thing, needed to pay off and he needed to prove himself. It just all makes you speechless really 💔

For a truly innovative submersible check out the triest which was built in 1954 in Switzerland and safely reached several times the depth of the titan. @uncoveredbyafzalsiddiqui When u look at the wreckage, none of the adhesive remains on the rings, just the carbon hull, which is a sign of adhesive failure, or poor bonding techniqus. Especially with the adhesive they used, which is not like a normal "glue", but has the consistency of something like Peanut Butter, or a Paste. We use it quite abit, and always acid etch any smooth surfaces to be bonded to anything.

Seems unlikely because the debris were squished into the rear dome.
Which means it is far more likely the initial failure was at the front and all the debris as it continued to fail were pushed into the rear dome with the rush of water.
That amount of force hitting it could potentially destroy the bolts holding the two parts of the rear dome together.

@buildingracingvideos4714 The U.S. Navy has adopted Xbox-style controllers to operate periscopes and other systems on a few of its submarines, particularly on the Virginia-class submarines. This innovation started around 2017 to replace more complex, bulky, and expensive control panels.
The use of these commercially available game controllers is practical because they are familiar to many young sailors, reducing training time, and they are also much cheaper than custom-built military equipment. So far, this controller approach has been seen in a limited number of submarines, particularly those equipped with advanced photonics masts (periscopes).
While not all U.S. Navy submarines use this type of controller, it has been part of the modernization efforts to simplify operations and reduce costs.

The hull did withstand the pressure. They just didn't pay attention to damage done over time. Rush should have replaced and reinforced the hull at frequent intervals. Rush should have headed what the data was showing. Instead, if dismissing it, he was reckless, and it cost the life of 4 others who may have changed their minds if presented with the correct data.
