Installing PVC strip door curtains using a hook-on system is a straightforward process. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you through the installation:
Materials Needed:
PVC strip door curtain kit (pre-cut strips with holes and a mounting rail)
Measuring tape
Pencil or marker
Drill with appropriate drill bit
Screws or bolts
Level
Ladder or step stool (if needed)
Step 1: Measure the Opening
Measure the width and height of the doorway or opening where you want to install the PVC strip door curtain. Make sure to account for any obstructions like handles or protruding objects.
Step 2: Prepare the Strips
Most PVC strip door curtain kits come with pre-cut strips that have holes punched along the top. If not, you may need to punch holes in the PVC strips using a hole puncher. Ensure the strips are all facing the same direction with the holes at the top.
Step 3: Attach the Mounting Rail
Hold the mounting rail (usually made of metal) above the doorway at the desired height. Use a level to ensure it is straight. Mark the positions for the screw or bolt holes on the wall or door frame.
Step 4: Drill Holes
Using the appropriate drill bit, drill holes at the marked positions on the wall or door frame. The size of the holes will depend on the type of screws or bolts you are using.
Step 5: Secure the Mounting Rail
Position the mounting rail over the drilled holes and align it properly. Insert screws or bolts through the mounting rail holes and tighten them into the wall or door frame using a screwdriver or wrench.
Step 6: Attach the PVC Strips
Take the first PVC strip and hook one end into the first hole at the top of the mounting rail. Insert the other end into the corresponding hole on the opposite side of the doorway. Repeat this process for all the PVC strips, hooking each one into the next hole on the mounting rail until all the strips are in place.
Step 7: Adjust the Overlap (Optional)
If you want to create an overlapping effect to enhance insulation and prevent drafts, adjust the strip overlap by moving the strips closer together or farther apart as needed.
Step 8: Trim the Bottom (Optional)
If the PVC strips are longer than the height of the opening, you can trim them to the desired length using scissors or a utility knife.
Step 9: Test the Curtain
Walk through the PVC strip door curtain to ensure it opens and closes smoothly without any obstructions.
