How to set up 1.8.9 Forge MDK (How to make a Minecraft Mod)

ik it's a bit complicated but Minecraft Development plugin for IDEA supports only the newest mc versions. Keep in mind that this is 'just works' setup.

When you join a game and see 'Unable to play...' in the console, it means you've done something wrong. Also, I'm not sure what exactly is wrong, but it worked for me with the 'stable_20' option

Followed every single step to a tea, tried reinstalling java 3 different times, did every combination of not doing or doing commands, tried setting up the project in multiple different ways, nothing works. After everything is all well and done, the build doesn't work, the runClient doesn't work, and every single library related to mc isn't loading properly.

I'm not sure if 1.8 still works but why would you want 1.8 mod anyway? All 1.8 mods work for 1.8.9
