Lived in San Francisco. This is accurate. I talked with everyone I could about the issue of housing while there. They just don't get it. What they want is to keep the value of their own houses high; and keeping the rest of the city under-developed and preventing new nicer homes from being made makes their own houses much more valuable as safe havens from the rest of the city's crap. It wouldn't matter, it isn't about Liberals or Conservatives, it is all about homeowners controlling the local government. Homeowners don't like apartment dwellers or poor people living next door, or sending their kids to the local school, because it "Lowers My Property Value". The only solution I have heard, that might work, is banning local zoning and only allowing the State to make zoning laws. In the city near me there are two separate school systems. The representatives from the area with the bigger school system restricts building apartments in their area, but approves every apartment project in the other school district. Thus encouraging the poorest residents to move to the now poorer district. Very typical of homeowners who write zoning laws.

This has Asheville, NC written all over it!
This parody is well-made, but it's roughly two years out of date.
In 2021, for the first time since before 2010, the growth in the supply of housing has exceeded the growth in demand for housing. In addition, the number of residential construction projects that have been approved but not been started yet is at at least a 20-year high.
Interesting info.
In San Francisco?
@@DangRenBo -- Good question. Those are national statistics. I don't know the data on California or San Francisco, specifically. I do know that the new housing is disproportionately multi-unit, though, which suggests that the construction is concentrated on big cities.
@@mvmlego1212 National stats do not equal SF stats.
Your comment would make sense if it had anything to do with San Francisco.
Remy is one of the best artists of our time. Not only entertaining but also ingenious
Very well done! These are the things that influence culture i8a positive direction. Bravo!
I demand a new Remy video every week. It's a human right.
Hey Remy, how about the next verse where Blackrock buys up all the houses at 20% over market value to artificially drive up prices by decreasing supply and getting Fed loans to do it?
This is even my small midwest town.
Average income= $32k
New construction= $750k
