I love how Daveed has an entire separate fanbase that knows him as a wholesome actor and activist, completely unaware that he spits bone chilling murder verses on the side with one of the best modern hip hop projects
his duality 😩✋🏻
Ikr. I had no idea he was in clipping. I saw this dude in Snowpiercer! WTF so nuts
I honestly didn't know he was an actor for like a year after I discovered clipping. 😅
@@rektyrektingson4668 what??? he was in snowpiercer???
@@slickytail Yup! He is the main protag in the Netflix tv show Snowpiercer. Getting more into clipping (seeing interviews and llistening to more of their music) makes me think he barely plaeyd a character on the show but played as Daveed Diggs in a post-apoc train clusterfuck.
"Oh wow, this band has the guy from Hamilton in it!"
Nah, fool. Hamilton has the guy from clipping. in it.
Lmao, so true. The only reason I watched Hamilton recently was because I became a fan of Daveed's work with clipping. first, even though I was aware of Hamilton before clipping.. Shame that he's only known for his acting by most because his lyricism is insanely awesome.
Clipping has quietly been building one of the greatest discographies/legacies in modern music.
Of all time, I’m calling it like back when Splendor and Misery came out lol
@@EldritchNoise that album is other worldly. Best album of that year.
people will grow up in the future like why can't my dad stop talking about this clipping thing
My daughter hates clipping. give her 10 years....
@@nem3sysany updates??
His articulation is so good that the auto-generated captions caught ≥99% of his words
They have to submit the script now, auto isn’t allowed anymore
Lyrics are arbitrary. People hear what they want to hear
@@dr34mw34v3r imagine saying this dumb shit unironically
@@gangswag3447 You sure? it says auto generated. Gets a lot of the words wrong too.
actor shit broadway expertise
professional, veteran, everything
Love the moment in Enlacing where Jonathan and William are fucking around with a balloon and metal things, and coincidentally the lyrics line up and Daveed says "fuck is you doin?" Makes it seem like he's talking to them
Daveed is somehow the most and least threatening all at the same time lol
singing about people being haunted and suicide only to be followed by "i play an instrument too" as he taps a water cup
I think that's because he's not one of those people who go around screaming about how they're gonna fight everyone and trying to be intimidating. He is always collected and articulate and you just know that if something did cause him to snap and deck someone he would be going full force
All clipping live performances should be filmed with this split screen. I want to see Daveed spitting murder and being wholesome but I also want to geek out over their hardware and not miss a single adjustment.
Sums up clipping. pretty well, there's almost too much to enjoy!
"Can't fool the G" with "be ready with the eulogy" has got to be the best rhyme of the year.
Sebastian better be spitting some horrorcore bars in The Little Mermaid remake or it's gonna flop
It's The Little Mermaid, BITCH!
[insert a shit ton of static and white noise here]
jasjasjasj wey que verga q onda como estamos?????

@@Raul_FOV just the interview after
Hola loko, para cuando el subtítulo a Ed Sheeran
7:59 Daveed "I play the water jar" Diggs
Everybody gangsta till the balloon start spittin.
I've heard those reverberating canisters clinking a recursive number of times before....
"You're fancy, you're very fancy"
he is so cute
These transitions are unreal. Hutson and Snipes are genuine technical gods
Daveed’s little separate camera interactions and subsequent grin absolutely sends me
ALSO HUDSON LETTING THE AIR OUT THE BALLOON AT 15:06. Where tf did these guys come from
"That's hard as fuck, y'all"
INDEED
Great to see clipping here. They may not be everyone's cup of tea but "there existed an addition to blood" and "visions of bodies being burned" are objectively some of the most creative and well produced albums of recent times
ABSOLUTELY 100%
I will never forget the the feeling when I heard Run for Your Life and the part where they incorporated the beat into the car passing by? Dude blew my fucking mind. Jonathan and William are very talented at what they do.
Agree , but “objectively” ? Seems like an opinion to moi , my friend
they fucking should be everyones cup of tea goddamn
@@boofloogsploog7265 fair point. it is subjectively objectively great haha
I keep coming back to listen to Enlacing.
Song of the year
Genius.
Song of the decade
All I’m saying is that “I play an instrument too” was very very very cute
you aint lying, y o u a r e n o t l y i n g
Daveed is so awesome! i love how he can be cute while he raps bone chilling murder verses!
The transition from Check The Lock to Enlacing tho 👌💀
The amount of times I've come back for that sweet minute of ascension, damn
Further proof that Daveed is one of the best rappers in the game right now
How’s that microphones vinyl bundle treating you buddy
Bro. STFU. you’re literally named Patrick
@@tobyjenkins2341 what
Yo didn’t expect to see the man himself in da comments, how u doin bruh?
@@hudsonmohawkee2141 Good luck in getting a reply from him. I replied his stories a few times, he hasn’t replied once lmao. He’s got a large following so he can’t reply to all the messages. Idk about RUclips tho.
It’s like they’re driving a spaceship while banging pots and pans together
I CANNOT wait for the post-covid tour for visions of bodies being burned! One of my favorite albums of the year.
See you there!
I wish i understood what the hell Hutson and Snipes were doing all the time
I guess Snipes is doing the beat repeats, ocasional percussion and messing some synth knobs, while Hutson is making noise texture and effects additions, idk
Way more than than it looks, I didn't realize until I got more into synthesizers but doing this live takes a shit load of focus, mad respect to em
Techmagic for the purpose of producing music
When the balloon came out for that high pitched whine...
Turnin nobs
Literally the best rap group of the generation
you must be talking of that other trio, the rather evil and profane D E A T H G RI 00 PS
just kidding not kidding but yea this is great too
@@jorchcm1 fucking lol those dudes are trolls. Nothing more.
Came out with government plates and then decided “nah yk what? Time to ‘quiet quit’*”
*that term is BULLSHIT and it’s a tactic and yeah. But you need to understand that’s basically what DG has done since then.
Whoever hasn't seen Blindspotting, it's an AMAZING movie created by Daveed Diggs and Rafael Casal, watch it now!!
I saw it on Amazon prime during quarantine. I loved it
YES
I never realized I needed a live Clipping album until now. This is next level.
The transitions between songs in these live performances are honestly my favorite part
It should be a crime that Clipping isn’t in the Cyberpunk soundtrack.
A huge shame
Even tho I absolutely love Clipping. I don't think they're sound really matches the Cyberpunk aesthetic
@@nicknicoshugah Hmm. For the in-game radio stations while driving around, I think it’d be perfect. Depending on the song of course.
Maybe, I still think that they have a more modern urban sound than a futuristic one, but some songs from Splendor and Misery would definitely do
I was literally playing cyberpunk and listening to VOBBB today and I'll say that it is a legendary combo
Getting a really clear image of some of the instrumentation is so clutch I wish they had more multicam live stuff like this
the chimes were very satisfying. love when they use shit like that. bet they sound great in person. although, no broken glass, oh well.
Daveed Diggs casually rapping in seven. Absolutely love these guys!
Letting the air outta the balloon, I loved that!
And how does Daveed remember all dem words.
Daveed is a trained actor., he can remember stuff very well and easily.
that acid breakdown before enlacing was incredible
Well well, look who ive found in the wild
@@michaelbryers7178 ow do gayboy
Loved it. Amazing. Just that sense of space. They're so distinct. I definitely see how they're one of those groups that occupy multiple genres at once like Young Fathers, Gaika or Thundercat do.
Would have loved to see Something Underneath... shit is crazy. Clipping. is the truth, VOBBB is fucking awesome.
I see you're a man of culture as well
@@oshiitaku922 🙏🏻
I swear to god something underneath gets no attention but it’s one of the single craziest tracks I’ve ever heard
@@KVWI FACTS. That is the one I go back to more than any of the other ones, it’s mind numbingly epic.
How does Enlacing sound even better live what the hell
Magic air balloons
Every part of this performance is just perfect, the three of them work so good as a team. Loved it!
absolutely loved the transitions!!!! (especially between say the name, check the lock and enlacing. this set had all my faves from VOBBB) one of my goals for 2021 is to see you guys live so hopefully y'all visit London again lmao
I love whenever Daveed is impressed with Will and Johnathon's production just like "man fuck these dudes are just too damn good at making noise"
What a gift! Been listening to this album in my car every day...
All three of them go CRAZY live...
Exactly what I needed today. Thank you clipping. & KEXP!
12:33 DAVEED WITH THE MASON JAR
This blew my mind and ears
The timing is so mind-blowing. aaahhh, they're so good!
This went down better than expected. Thanks to Clipping. And KEXP for this! Really enjoyed it!
Fantastic performance! I always love seeing how you mix up the songs live.
It's a true joy to see musicians so skilled pushing each other forward.
VOBBB is fantastic.
surprised they played dream, that shit is awesome!!!!
damn, clipping really said "making music in this time is not fun" :( i agree
clipping: the band that are addicted to blood.
Not a band. They’re not playing instruments.
@@colin6603 I see two people using electrical instruments to produce sound. Check your eyesight or check yourself.
@@colin6603 they are using instruments. also the human voice is an instrument
@@colin6603 I count three people playing the same songs in sync. If that isn't a band, I don't know what is.
@@colin6603 they literally all refer to themselves as a band. How are they not?
I love them so much please come to Vancouver BC someday
Chef’s kiss perfection!!
Can we talk about Daveed’s shirt? That thing is powerful.
Anyone have an id? I can’t find it
@@drummerboy1325 I tried doing a quick google search of it but couldn’t find it ://
Legitimately the first time a t-shirt has given me chills. Came straight to the comments looking for an ID.
album of the year for me
Love Daveed switching and looking at the cameras lmao
I'm so happy right now
this is just * chefs kiss *
Ok love kexp and you've bought us some incredible performances but how many better than this?
Damn this was so so good.
Whoa...can't believe I missed this performance! THANKS!!!
Check The Lock is the best song of 2020 and it desperately needs a music video.
Daveed Diggs is clipping. number one fan
Clipping featured Gangsta Boo, so did Sightless Pit, which features!!!!! A member of The Body.
That means The Body needs to collaborate with clipping. Clearly this is the correct trajectory.
“Look I play an instrument too!” *taps ring on cup*
Tuning in to see the live performance for the 60th time
samme!
That kalimba's on fire.
Mr Snipes good to have you guys back
When I tell you I went insane at this version of check the lock oh my god
Oh man, playing a game of "name that 90's DNB sample" right now; well done, definitely going to pick up your work!
Clppng-
The rebellion of punk
The angst of metal
The spiritual shouts of the people, recorded from 90's Renaissance hip-hop
90's trance beats
The technology/production of today
Which equals SONIC ORGASMS
Yeah, this was pretty much perfect. Wahooo
15:13 the balloon
Like these versions better than album versions. Great job
I forgot how hard they went live. VOBBB one of the best albums in 2020.
Incredible! 😎👍🏼
YESSSSS. THEIR LAST PERFORMANCE HAS BEEN ON REPEAT FOR THE LAST COUPLE OF MONTHS
Gah, I heart these guys! Great set!
I’m generally curious to what the hell the other two guys are doing. Like ik they produced this but like I wanna know how their equipment works. I’m a young producer who just uses a midi keyboard, a MacBook, mic, and interface
Gotta cop some metallic tablets bro
love clipping and love that they’re exposing more people to the experimental/noisy side of electronic music
Anyone know what their process is for keeping in synchronicity while being remote? I've used Ninjam before, but I have no idea that would work with vocals like this. Inquiring nerds want to know.
Replying just to see if this bumps your comment, I want to know too
I think Jonathan and Bill probably recorded their parts beforehand then sent to Daveed to rap over
@@caydilemma3309 yeah I think when Daveed said "I ain't doing another one" it was probably cause he already had the music and did his take over it - besides he was reacting to their music and John/Will weren't reacting to him (well they were busy but still!)
this is amazing considering ya'll weren't even in the same room. good shit.
Man made a balloon sound menacing.
CHECK THE LOCK TRANSITION TO ENLACING IS SO FUCKING HARD
can't wait
thanks from Murmansk
Clipping is the next hip-hop juggernaut, right on 🤜👈
I especially loved the nos cannister performance
I thought i was the only one that noticed
REALLY? BALLOONS? I LOVE CLIPPING
BOOM I'm so fucking psyched to see this out here.
“That’s…that’s hard as fuck y’all, I’m not gonna lie. That is…very good.”
Rpnnie Martin from Joy Electric is the GOAT of the analogue MOOG - I love hearing that noise knowing he paved the way
That lil kalimba part sounded so sick. Only for like one measure too
But when are we gonna get Puppy for Hanukkah live?
Wow 😳
Anyone else catch the green balloon 😂 15:04 love them so much.
парни это было божественно
14:51 where shit got real
I was talking to a girl at a New Years Eve party in 2015 about Daveed Diggs who was of the opinion that he's a terrible rapper outside of Hamilton, and I think about that girl every single time I listen to clipping. and wonder how on earth anyone could have have their head that far up their own ass.
