Whenever I hear the words "new age", alongside "ascension" or enlightenment or *pick your favourite cliché* I am reminded by my therapist, many moons ago, quoting a common saying that was new to me at the time: "before enlightenment, chop wood make fire; after enlightenment, chop wood make fire." That, and also "you can run away to India, but you take yourself with you wherever you go" (yeah, that was the plan - escapism in a nutshell). I have found some "new age" acolytes so dissociated from the physical reality of looking after their body, health, work, and so on, seeking instead some out-of-reach unattainable goal (that often also gets paraded as a superior moral virtue), while unable to hold down a job, cook healthy meals, pay bills on time and oh my lord am I glad those ungrounded days and months are so far behind me...
That’s exactly what I think too. I’ve never quite understood why people are so eager to detach themselves from physical reality. Someone messaged me last week over on Instagram, and told me that I have ‘stepped away from the light’ apart from finding it absolutely hilarious. I also found it very sad that someone actually believes that about someone.
Omg, you had me laughing out loud! The artwork is lovely. I agree that it could be stripped back and used as a practical deck - with the exception of a few cards. Good to see you, as it were 💜
Thank you for the video. I understand what people here are saying about new age stuff and raising vibration. I think it has to do with what people are defining under those words. For me, when I think raising vibration, what it means to me is being more grounded in yourself and increased empathy and understanding for self and others. And your experience starts to change. That has happened for me as I've worked on myself. Does it mean that I never have bad moments or days? Absolutely not. But my general perspective of myself and the world around me has improved and then I am able to show up better. That's what I understand when I see "raise vibration".
Just finished watching the review and I actually love it lol 😂, I pre ordered it. As you said, some cards are too much new age but overall it’s still a nice deck and beautiful artwork. Thanks for the review 😊🙏🏻♥️.
Martyn you are back!! Yay! So nice to hear your voice my friend. I love the art in this deck. Oh can’t wait to see the mushroom one, I have been keeping an eye on it. Xoxo
It’s a huge pet peeve of mine, where you are expected to keep forking out money to fully appreciate the benefits of some form of New Age practice. It’s total BS. It’s the same with all these courses that cost hundreds of pounds, there’s always another course after that that usually costs even more, but you need to continue to invest to appreciate the full benefit. It boils my piss!
Exactly that Simon! I have zero fucking time for the bullshit. The thing is, there’s sadly a market for it. Which really makes me wonder what kind of people actually practice this nonsense.
I know I'm going to love it when the title says "honest" in it. You are too funny! This is why I no longer purchase oracle cards, lol! Wait until you see the new Solitary Witch oracle. I preordered it months ago and received it about 2 weeks ago. I purchased it because of the artwork, and I've seen the creator's name everywhere and thought maybe it would be a good one. The guidebook has a page long fairytale about the picture and one or two sentences about the card. I'm passing it along. 😂😂
Oh dear 🤣 why am i not surprised that deck is shit? I kinda guessed it would be. I honestly think that most mass market oracle decks are pointless now 🤣🤣🤣
The artwork on this deck is very nice, however I don’t like the fact that it tells you in the book that you need two other decks to go with this one. Not one I will be purchasing but thanks for your honest opinion as always Martyn 🥰❤️
Lovely artwork....but it's a bit like the starseed decks...that Lemurian one...I don't buy into the central concept so not really worth getting. Ta for the review 🙂🙏🏼✨
Oh no. Just the text on the back is a not for me. What does it even mean to "raise your vibration"? It all feels like copping out on participating in life and dealing with what is going on in the real world.
I’m astonished to see this much honesty ! All of the Oracle world tells you that Cards are going to change your life etc. mostly I just buy them for the art. Which sometimes is conremplative & makes you think.
The art is beautiful, while in fact, it's really the guidebook that's problematic, at least for me. And this is something I've seen before -- a guidebook that makes promises that no deck can deliver. Whoever writes the stuff needs to be more real. Of course, this isn't true of all guidebooks but I've seen it too often.
I agree! It’s always these damn guidebooks. There’s so much bullshit around now. It really makes me wonder who actually agrees for them to get published.
Not for me. The guidebook is full of nonsense, lots of words that mean nothing. I prefer much more grounded and real spirituality. New age stuff is all about spiritual bypassing and shaming people when bad things happen in their life. The new age to Alt right pipeline is also very common.

Cringe!! Or was it the light of self-delusion?! 🤔😂 seriously 😒
Lol 😂 right?!
Omg, you had me laughing out loud! The artwork is lovely. I agree that it could be stripped back and used as a practical deck - with the exception of a few cards. Good to see you, as it were 💜
Haha thanks Wendy! It’s such a shame that it’s another deck that’s been published again with no thought 💖

You’re welcome! I knew you would love it! 😂💖💖💖💖
@@martys_musings Hahaha 🤣, you know me too well ❤️❤️
This is funny…I thought ALL oracle cards were “new age”.
Your opening comments are like a breath of fresh air to me 🙏
Ha! Thank you 😃❤️
I'm with Moran, I like it! (though you also knew I would too! haha! ) Loved your commentary on this one! haha!!
Haha this is one I really don’t like.
Martyn you are back!! Yay! So nice to hear your voice my friend. I love the art in this deck. Oh can’t wait to see the mushroom one, I have been keeping an eye on it. Xoxo
Thank you Annelle. I’m doing a walkthrough of the mushroom oracle tomorrow xox

Hello! All good thank you Ricki. Hope you are too ❤️

I could really picture your eyes rolling reading that guidebook 😂
Oh you know me well my dear 😂😂😂

I don’t like it at all sandra. Another waste of time ❤️❤️❤️

I know me neither. It’s all too woo and out there for me sarb 💖💖💖

I know exactly. It’s just a whole concept of saying that unless we don’t raise our vibrations. We’re a piece of shit.
@@martys_musings Smells like cult mindset to me.
I totally agree 100 percent!

You can record yourself reading the meditation, then play it back
WhT about real challenges like hurricanes, disasters? What do cards have to offer to victims?
💙
💜
OMG!!!’ You literally had me laughing out loud…..the good news is they stopped using that shiny shiny cardstock. Happy to see the matte cards.
That’s the only good thing Liz! 😂💖💖💖

Most guidebooks are useless new age cliches that have NOTHING to do with the artwork. They are so generic it’s like they were written by AI.
As soon as you hit the word "starseed" I just knew you'd stop reading. 😂
The imagery is beautiful. But not a deck for me, as I cannot really relate to the concepts/ text/ some of the keywords.
Same for me.
Not for me. The guidebook is full of nonsense, lots of words that mean nothing. I prefer much more grounded and real spirituality. New age stuff is all about spiritual bypassing and shaming people when bad things happen in their life. The new age to Alt right pipeline is also very common.
I totally agree with you! And I could say a lot more about it too.
