- This video is a tour of my kitchen .I have given a few tips on kitchen organisation and maintenance which will be useful for beginners. When you enter a clean kitchen in the morning your work seems very light and easy.My basic tip to all is to cook with a smile on your lips and a song in your heart , that is with a happy frame of mind as it definitely helps towards a happy and peaceful family!
Gitamma, you're a very typical South Indian amma. Very crisp very down to earth. No wastages. N no frills. Simple elegant and very efficient. That's what your kitchen shows.
Wow, thank you
I loved the last sentence. Keep the items back in place and do not leave the utensils in sink. A trademark of your passion and perfection.
Nice
Totally agree, that's the same way I was brought up by my mother😊👍🙏
Your voice emanates love and warmth which touches every one watching ,love your recipies.🙏🙏🙏
Such a perfect kitchen aunty !! Happy to see traditional steel boxes otherwise these days kitchen organisation videoes have become rat race, full of pump n show. So much decoration n utensils.....thanks for sharing this kitchen tour
Your kitchen is so well organised bcos of the clarity within you. U R an AMAZING WOMAN inside and out !!!!!! God bless you !!!!
Thank you so much sathya
I totally agree with satya s comment. You are great.
Sambarpowder
I like your video s
Well organize.
Dear Ma'am, Thank you very much for giving us a chance to look into your kitchen and learn from you. I also love watching your recipe videos. You remind me of my mom and I miss her. Just like you, she was a great cook, had an amazing kitchen but by the time I was 11 yrs old, she fell sick and gradually couldnt remember much to teach me her methods of cooking. Your kitchen brought tears to my eyes ..... clean, organised, the old kitchen helpers - the coconut scraper, the stone grinders. Thank you for sharing!
So wonderful to see pride in simple things! Thank you Geeta. We learn so much from you!
My pleasure 😊
I cud observe that emotional voice when u mentioned packing tiffins for your kids..tats how my mom also gets that husk in her voice while mentioning our childhood..😪😪
Yes...I too felt the emotions.....
Aunty after 11 yrs of marriage, first time I'm moving to a new house..small 2 bhk. I have been with mil and she passed away. I was missing her terribly and lonely because now I have to set up things from beginning.
.with 2 kids (11 and 6 yrs each). The new kitchen is old fashioned with open shelf...I'm going to set it like this only. My mil's house also is like urs, semi modular. Feel like seeing her. Love your way of explaining so much
Your mom in-law is one in a zillion. So glad you had her.
Mam hello. I just love the idea of the screw driver. Saw so many so called organisation vedios, but never cme across this . It's a real nd a practical requirement which every kitchen faces. Lots of love and respect
Nowadays I havy seen people giving their kitchen tour with lots of fancy stuff..new kind of utensils,,fancy storage containers ....which I feel that at a instant it looks good but on daily basis it's very difficult to maintain the same....and I really felt the statement you said"kitchen should be functional"...so that even if someone else come to the kitchen he is able to find and manage the things......one more memory when I got married ..my grandmother inlaw had set up my kitchen the same way you have arranged...lots of love to you ma'am... your videos are really basic..
I have watched and watch so many kitchen organisation videos made by Indians as well as foreigners, but I keep coming back and rewatch this video, the masala box video and this channel. The simplicity, no frills, homely way in which Geeta madam explains and speaks, is incomparable.
Thank you so much Sir! Your comments mean a lot to us.
When I was a small child there no grinders and mixies - just a stone mortar, a grinding stone and a wooden mortar and a coconut scraper on a folding bench. Later on when the cook got old my grandfather got a hand-cranked coconut scraper. All the vessels, except for the pan for boiling milk, were made of clay. The pots were scrubbed with wood ash and coconut fibre. The fuel used was firewood. There was no plastic. There was a brass pan for making sweets. All the spices were ground fresh daily. The string-hopper maker was made of wood, with a small, fixed, metal plate, and the contraption for steaming puttu was a bamboo tube with a cloth 'turban' at the bottom. I still remember all these things in great detail and I treasure these childhood memories because those days are gone.
Wow! Such a vivid description.Yes I feel nostalgic about those days too.I remember, my neighbours son, looking at the stone grinder as if it were a museum piece. I then decided to soak some rice and dal and show a demo of how we ground it and he was very excited trying his hand at it too.i wonder if you remember the stone grinder used for dry grinding . It had two round stones with a wooden peg in between. there was a small opening through which we would put fistfuls of rice or other grain and rotate the stone using the wooden handle, aka ural in Tamil
Indeed I remember the dry grinder which was used to grind millet and rice. One had to sit directly on the floor to do this and sometimes the flour had to be 'recycled' a second time until it came out fine enough. I think it had two pegs - one piece which kept the stones centred and another to move the top stone around. I also remember how a man came by with a chisel to pit the the wet grinding stone. He used to make patterns of flowers and leaves and when the turmeric, chilli, coconut etc were ground the colours of the flowers would change! So many things were done at home and by hand such as all the pickles. My family had a coconut plantation and rice fields, and even the coconut oil was made at home. All kinds of trees grew on the property - mangoes, tamarind, hog-apples, murungai, and there was even an immensely tall curry leaf tree. The paddy was hulled by bullocks and winnowed by hand using large winnowers. All the food was fresh - there were no pesticides and herbicides and certainly no GMO produce. Shopping was done each day and sometimes twice a day! Oh - I forgot the black iron kettle for boiling water, and the clay goglet which held the drinking water which set on a polished brass tray. This goglet was regularly dried in the fireplace over burned paddy husks Drinking water had to be boiled every day, and it was always refreshing and cool and had a smoky flavour .... But I musn't bore you. I think you may have similar memories! Your neighbour's son is a lucky boy to have the benefit of knowing you personally!
Chala baga gurtu chesaaru appati vastuvulanu vaatini upayoginche vidhanalanu,,,and gita's kitchen reply lo thiragali ni gurtu chesaaru,,avunu,,avanni ippudu musium pieces 😳,,not only i like to remember few more ,,as there was no power available in villages,,we were using kirosine lamps with glass chimneys whch we used to clean regularly before lighting the lamps,,hand made fans made of thin and small bamboo sheets with a strong bamboo handle for summer use and also can be used near the fire also,,to make the fire effective. 😀much more memories are there to remember,,i feel those days were our days,,,which we like very much though to day every thing become easier and energy saving factors 🙂
Awesome I thought I am one of the outdated housewives with similar habits in organising my kitchen.
I still keep that kathipeeta, I have been looking for the dry stone grinder because I remember it as a part of my childhood when my mother and grandmother used to grind rice and I used to be the feeder. Then we got another grinding machine which had a wheel and we need to fix it to a stool.. Eventually Sumeet mixies entered the kitchens. So much of nostalgic thoughts and feelings.
@@theinkbrain awesome
So simple and clean. Reminds my mother's kitchen. She always insisted the importance of keeping kitchen shelves open and handy and simple exactly the way u explained. Thankyou . வாழ்க வளமுடன்.

Thank you Gita, I liked that you have a traditional and modular kitchen combined, and that you still have stainless steel storage boxes and not plastic for your everyday food storage. It makes perfect sense therefore that you store the same things , in the same spot.
I also liked that you did not display the brands of anything that you use.
Keep up the good traditions.
Regards
Francesca Pereira
Thank you so much 😊
Loved your kitchen maam, n i agree an open grocery storing is d best... Mine too is a non modular kitchen.. 👍👍

Good evening Ma’m
Had a really great journey to your very well managed & organised kitchen.I learned how to organise things in the kitchen.Thank you Ma’m .
Thank you for showing us your well organised kitchen. You are the queen of your kitchen and am sure are very proud of all that comes out of it. God bless you and your husband who I am sure supports and admires you a lot. Salaams to you both.
Thank you so much
Thank you for inviting and making us a part of your house's soul. I'm a new subscriber... Me and my husband loves authentic south indian food, and I try to make it watching different RUclips channels... But frankly speaking most of the "authentic south indian" cooking channels are in the local languages... The language barrier keeps me sometimes limited or I try to make it using my common sense... With your channel and the perfect use of English has become my saviour... 😂 I love the way you explain everything and every last detail with such a patience and love... Thank you for one of the best explanations for each recipe and important tips in kitchen and life... 😊💐
Glad you liked it
@@GitasKitchen, I want to know if your channel has a recipe for Idli podi/ malagai podi... If yes then can you share the link please? 🙏

Aunty ji why don't you take online English classes in another channel..
Plz it's my humble request.
Me too
krysantha kale she doesn’t need to TAKE any online English classes. Her English is perfect.
@@samroy5967 Kale means to Aunty's English is too good ..Kale is requesting to teach English to other people. .I hope you got it now
@@samroy5967 I understood it in the way she clarified. After giving a compliment she wouldn't be advising her to take classes as a student. Simple logic.

V nice handy kichen
Very very fentastic kitchen.
V nice and pleasant tour
I had the opportunity to observe my neighbour maintaining a kitchen and learnt therafter(after my marriage. I recall my mother maintaining an impeccable kitchen, which i seldom paid attention 😢)
Suggestion:i keep 5 ltr ataa container and keep all achu, nazhi, kuzha puttu seal, idiyappam achu so that i dont misplace anywhere
Similarly excess spoons , spatulas, paper plates are kept in another container for quick
Fridge magnet has papers to make notings, reminder, grocery purchase
Thank you so much Vidya! I'm sure your suggestions will be very useful to all.I'm really in awe of your writing skills! Your kind words of support mean a lot to us.
