      To me it sounded like the excitement that this video got from the "younger mechanics" meant that the "old school" techniques are still in use and are not just a thing that "you old guys used to do it like..." type of thing. Cause this is exactly how we used to do it on bearings when I was a young mech starting out.

    👍👍👍Beautifull.
    The torch is the tip. Big heat in short time. With a gas torch will not work the same.

    • @jeffpacetti5800
      @jeffpacetti5800 Год назад +1

      I can attest to that. Just spent several minutes on two different hubs with a propane torch and nothing. So disappointed.

    • @Lombardini490
      @Lombardini490 Год назад

      @@jeffpacetti5800 With propane, the heat is not so intense and the heat wil transfer to the rotor, what wil expand with the bearing in the same time.
      Try with a Rothenberger MAPP gas, with Rothenberger Superfire 2 Torch with small nose. It is 70% like OxiAcetilene.
      MAPP = Metyl Acetilene Propan Propaneide 1,950°C
      And you help the bearing with a screwdriver to go down.
      Good luck!

    bro no one should use heat on heat treated parts it effects the durability so much its sad to think 95 percent of mechanics do this

    • @u-an6821

      This inner bearing race has completely separated from the rest of the bearing, so it's more than likely the entire wheel bearing will be replaced anyway

    • @FerrellBill
      @FerrellBill Год назад +2

      No hubs were damaged in the making of this video. He heated up the bearing, not the hub. It would take a lot to bother that hub. Hearing the race caused it to expand and drop.
