Always been some nasty storms around the Fylde. (One caused the Freckleton air disaster.) We had, I think it was late 80's, three storms that joined together and it was nasty. The farm on Freckleton marsh was flooded and there was localised flooding in the area. My mate thought he was being a big man by watching it out of his bedroom window, overlooking the Memorial park in Freck, when there was a massive flash and the loudest bang. He just said "oh sh*t" and promptly closed the curtains!
That was an amazing video. I just wanted to tell you that if you are still having problems with the live stream locking in portrait I think you need to set it on landscape before you start the live stream
Over the weekend, Saturday, we had lots of thunder through-out the day and in the evening more lightening, especially pink flashes.Sunday i could see a horseshoe shape UFO cloud come closer and closer, then eventually we got really strong winds and rain and lightening,Been a crazy weekend for storms, i live in Bingley, West yorkshire
I've been so disappointed today. Not much rain and only a couple of rumbles of thunder. I was hoping we might get a good one today as they put out a storm warning but nothing.
Wasn't it Dramatic yesterday... I got 3 Thunderstorms in succession at North Manchester... Got soaked but it was worth it.. storms were Massive with frequent Lightning
I used to do this stuff, standing out with my camera during thunderstorms or watching them from my skylight window. But I was caught out in a nighttime elevated thunderstorm last year and it actually scared me because of the sheer amount of close cloud to ground lightning. I don’t know what it is about elevated thunderstorms and CGs, I assume it’s the greater voltage differential between the cloud and ground due to the increased distance. A tree got hit less than I’d say 150m from where I was standing at a bus stop shelter the thunder, “it’s more like an explosion at that range” actually hurt my ears and they rung for about half an hour afterwards, you could feel the sonic energy in your chest it was so loud. A power pylon was struck about half a kilometre away from me that was definitely a positive lightning strike, it wasn’t even recognisable as thunder it was just sounded like an explosion. I never really took lightning seriously in this country until after that night and the next morning when I went out to see if I could find the tree that I saw being splintered right in front of me. I found it and I still have the pictures of the charred branches that were blasted off. I even took a piece home.
It’s been a wild few days for thunderstorms. Today has been the same as yesterday. Huge bands of thunderstorms coming In literal waves like a video game
I've witnessed ball lighting at the age of 7 in lenham. Also there was red sheet lighting with it. Scared the crap out of me and my brother. We ran from the back of the house to yhe front. Think it was in '92 and literally lighting going off every second if not more. It was severe. Probably the worst I've seen. Maybe in 2010 was pretty close in kent as well.
I was on the tram in Sheffield on Saturdays storm. (Constantly checking the rainy days satellite image map) I was 0.3 miles away from were a house was struck by lightning and was on fire, a telegraph pole was also struck, and someone's TV exploded. I got off the tram and the road was flooded, walked through close to knee depth. I was 💩 my 🩳
