As a Canadian, I have limited personal interest or comment to make. Yet , as on all wars that continue to affect people, I cry. For the lost, the brave. I love the work that y'all do to keep these memories alive. If I wasn't so destitute I would contribute. ' til my horse comes inna winna ? You'll jes hafta wait. As Tom Petty sang, "tsa hardest part. " Thanks, t'all.

I never understood why the Army maintained a large base named after General Bragg. Rarely do I read something good about him except his relationship with Jefferson Davis. Thank you for your posts.

That's probably why the U.S.Army named it Bragg, for his bumbling against the U.S. Army

Very good phrase: "Stones River was a Union victory only in the very narrowest sense." Same as with Antietam. I think that in the first couple years of the war, any battle that didn't end in a Union disaster was euphorically embraced by Washington and in the Northern press.

It’s humbling to ponder the sacrifice of soldiers on both sides of the conflict, whether casualties or survivors, the hellishness of what they experienced, and the not-fully-known ramifications to their realized or not realized posterity. My GG grandfather fought and survived several battles, including Shiloh (Pittsburg Landing) and then Murfreesboro (Stones River).

There so many errors in the Southern Army. And yet they fought on. Thank you for sharing! 💯👊👍💕

They named a Fort after, what most accounts seem to infer, was an incompetent a''hole. Well, sign me up ! Name a Fort after me !

Good news, are good lies they could spin. You skipped over Chickamauga when you said they retreated into Georgia. How convenient.
