    Thank you man. This is the most informative striper video I've seen. I fish for stripers in the Delaware River in Trenton, NJ. I will be throwing plastic eels, and jointed minnows during full moons, and early mornings. We got a new moon coming up in March, will throw some of the Cordell lures also.
    In the past I've hooked up on big stripers in the Delaware with slip sinker rigs, & highlow rigs with CHUNK FROZEN BUNKER bait. I've had stripers hit cut bluegill bait. Thanks for your info man.

    It's amazing how different your advice is compared to the advice I'd give on Lake Murray in South Carolina. We actually use fish lights down here which attract the blue backed herring. We also beat on our boats with sticks to call the fish in and it works like a dinner bell. We don't use lures with triple hooks down here unless it's on a flutter spoon or stick. In the summer, the striper go super deep so we down line with live herring and we must keep the first 5 fish we catch no matter what size and after that, we're done fishing. That's because the fish wouldn't survive coming from those depths anyways. In the spring, the striper follow the herring through the spawn up on the shores. In fact, anywhere the herring are, so are the striper. I never thought in a million years that I'd be hitting my boat to call fish in and watch my graph fill with fish every single time, yet that's exactly what happens and here's why. This lake is stocked with 1.3 million striper per year. But before they make it to the lake, they are farm raised. The fish can hear the farmer walk out onto his dock every time he feeds the fish. So that sound becomes the dinner bell and we try to mimic that sound by beating on our boats. Amazing and difficult to believe but it makes perfect sense.

      Hi John, I believe every word of it and it is truly interesting stuff. I suspect lots of released stripers die in the summer here too as a result of stress during the catch when the water is very warm. I know this happens on Nockamixon because I have seen it. Up north on Wallenpaupack, less so do to cooler temperatures. We uses spoons and blade baits in winter to catch them consistently. Good stuff!

    I have been doing this same thing since 95 in Tennessee. I have almost gave up bass fishing entirely. We catch more walleye but like you mentioned, we catch more strippers at the beginning of the season, also try working pencil poppers.

    The last idk probably 5 fishing trips have always gone the same. The day before I'll decide "Alright, I'm hitting the water tomorrow". Then because of the excitement, I can't sleep. End up leaving the house between 10pm-2am and stay on the water that night and all day. Tell you what, being up 20 hours and then fishing 10+ hrs really makes for an interesting drive home at dark haha. Especially when you're snagging all day in heavy current and hauling out 100+ lbs of fish, talking absolutely beat when you get home. Last trip I had 218 lbs of asian carp in the bed of the truck, energy drinks or strong coffee are a must on the drive back.

    Such a informative video, very very useful! Just one question, are those striped and hybrid active in summer?

    • @fishden365
      @fishden365  4 года назад

      It depends where your are fishing. This pattern dies out when the alewife and gizzard shad spawn ends. This is usually late June / early July for the lakes farthest south. It does last longer in the lakes further north like lake Wallenpaupack. There it can last well into July. Hope this helps.

      I don't know those states well enough to give advice on their fisheries. I do know that Nebraska has some excellent hybrid striper fishing. The best place to start your search is to go on-line and search the fish and game websites of those states. You can find the information you want there. Thanks for watching!

    • @fishden365
      @fishden365  5 лет назад

      Hi Kevin. I am sure that shiners will work for them. Heck lots of people report catching stripers on chicken liver while fishing for catfish. I do think that during the alewife and shad spawns, stripers become more difficult to catch on other baits and lures. One way around this is to use a topwater like a cordell redfin which snags lots of alewife while they are spawning and then used the snagged alewife for bait.

    damn I only fish from shore.. and the upper where the stripers are here, is open at sunrise, close at sunset... in the fall though I will get them boiling right near me sometimes.. though I always got some drop shot tied on for largemouths and then boaters come fast and chase them back down.. though I have gotten a couple stripers here. the lower here(doesn't have stripers) though I was able to fish some nights in summer before and ive heard the bowling ball sound from a largemouth. ive even seen a very big largemouth jump in the middle of the night in summer. just couldn't get her. and almost had heart attacks from walking shoreline very soft and even after casting a area having a huge carp dart off from 1 foot of water as I was a couple feet from it.... nice vid
