play with a common champ, the one who always reams you and takes the ball off you when you are on their team, not these people who give you space and respect you as a tm8.
This is exactly how I try to play during solo queue. I just keep running into teammates who spam "take the shot" and get upset I'm not committing into overextending while he's way out of play. Once they just give up and sit there doing nothing it's difficult to play a 2v1
I would love more videos just like this, 2v2 against c2-gc1 with lower ranked teamates and you should do some games with teamates that are too aggressive or to passive and show how to best play with those teamates and same for opponents, some games against really aggressive players would be very helpful aswell as thats what I struggle with
I see these comments all the time, but aggressive players tend to be better, especially in champ. The best way to beat aggressive players is to stay fast
Looks like your in a more controlled environment with community lobbies. Try public lobbies in 3s ranked play with randoms. Miss one shot & watch how quickly it becomes toxic & the FF start.
Exactly... When I'm C2 and I queue two GC Tournament winners or at least an SSL tagged opponent who can flip reset every shot, and my teammate isn't even moving when the match starts, safe to say I'm F'd.
Literally one of the sickest videos you've ever done. I learned more from this video than you think. Do 3's next. That's where the big struggle is. Thanks for this 👍
I was about to say the same thing. Watching the game from the perspective of the other team, seeing what they could've done better and how your plays impacted them is a great way to check on your own positioning and how effective your plays are.
I feel like consistency is also a difference that's under mentioned in these kind of videos. Love them, watched all of road to ssl from leth and it was kind of the idea too but It's hard to notice how ssl players have so much consistency in 50s, fast aerial shot placements and turning speed etc.
This is great! Actually watching you play the game is really great! All the advice you give is infinitely helpful but actually watching uou play and do the things you teach is even more helpful! I'd love to see a series where you get a fresh account and just play super super basic to climb through the ranks to prove that you don't need flip resets, mustys and Breezi's to hit GC! Watching you rank up and implement all the advice you give and seeing how easy it is to rank up if you're just doing the basic things well would be great! Also I know this has been done before and other similar ideas (Flakes, Chief Beef etc). But your content hits different and the value I get and we all get from you dwarfs what is applied from other creators
Luke I love ur vids but sometimes it feels like ur trying to be champ and it’s a noticeable difference that your not. Goin for a flip reset, ariels, the recoveries and boost management is so much better than any champ. The advice is great tho 👍🏻 thx for all the help
yep, the muslce memory doesnt turn off... just turning off the sound and watching hte gameplay, he doesn't look like he belongs anywhere near that rank. The recoveries were some of the most blatant things that diamonds don't do. Boost management.. meh whatever, that's one of the easiest thigns to improve... It's the SMALL movements he does that makes this video look totally invalid.
the perfect power slides, the wave dashing etc etc etc.. "whooops accidently speed flipped" was the least bad thing you can do in diamond. most diamonds can speed flip now anyways, but he keeps trying to make a point of "not speed flipping"
The difference is that you're still not champ, you know the game so much better than them even if you try to be bad you will still outperform them since your game sense is much higher
They may be better but the principles are still the same. I think he should make another vid like thiis but with less mechs but it still doesn´t matter. You can emulate this style of play and win. I have done it a lot even at my own rank. My problem is I can get too passive at times and that gets me scored on for indecisiveness.
@@novikane14 yea that was my problem too. i don't think he understands only coaching passively will end up with only passive players. sure he has some aggressive videos and tips, but most are so "common cense" they're basically useless.

This is what we needed, sometime we see your videos and try to learn about them but we completely forget when we are playing because we don't know how those these tips look in proper matches

Nice video man! Me and many, many others will miss you when you retire, but we will ALL will enjoy the videos you will continue to make. Keep up the great work man!! ❤
As a creator my self sitting at around C3 pretty comfortably in 3s and 2s and champ in 1s I’ve run into pretty good smurfs I’ve had games where I lost and won. I don’t really think people are hard stuck. But more so a large amount of players don’t have any dimension to the play style. Also commonly too stubborn to change play styles to better compete versus an opponent that is giving them troubles how ever have you.
Earlier I was being very disciplined… sometimes you DO get a bad teammate but overall sticking to the fundamentals will get you exactly where you belong.
Great vid love to see the small but useful techniques you use during the game makes me realize how smooth and fast you can rotate or react.seeing them on how to and when to use them was very noticeable in the vid so I’ll be implementing them more in my gameplay
Your skill level is miles above your teammates. People are complaining about others not pulling their weight because that's annoying to the average player in any team game. You don't prove anything by carrying teammates, that's not the point it never was.
Luke they just blaming you because of they think you're telling wrong advices and they think only thing that you can do is talking, would like to see more gameplay from you and in my opinion you deserve gc3
Luke that was quite informative. A suggestion I would make would be how you would behave in much lower ranked lobbies (what to focus on when you completely cannot rely on your teammates)
its not really about relying on teammates. Its you playing off of their decisions and moves. So for instance your teammate goes for the ball and completely misses you should be behind him to take over. happens even all the way to gc and if you say you dont whiff every once and while you're lying. The whole point of the video is to not over commit to the ball and leave your " non reliant" teammate on his own to a 2v1 situation. You should however being going for clears, passes to your teammate, defending, and filling in the gaps of your teammates misses, follow ups, etc. This way of thinking makes ranking up and winning much higher chance instead of trying to be the main character and go for the ball constantly, it turns that gamble of winning into a high probability of winning
Points in this video can be distilled to hit the ball with power, recover quickly and consistently, and dont overcommit by playing around your teammate(s).
I feel like all these vids on ranking up are kinda portrayed as 'easier than you think' because the person who is telling it (a gc or ssl) is a gc or ssl, hence they have the mechs of one, not on of a diamond for say that was here. Anyways I feel like it would be better if you may be able to do a discussion with a player that ranked up recently, they would know the game of a lower ranked player, while still being better enough to give very very relevant tips.
The innacuracy in these videos isn't putting yourself at a disadvantage with a diamond, but rather playing against champs who are really grand champs but on smurf accounts.
i'm always inspired to play with all this gained knowledge. i start the game, go into the first game and stick to it. slowly things break down and i wonder why my teammate(s) aren't doing the same things. i am sure by then i have the "it's them" attitude. hard to tackle. nice vid tho.
plus the huge difference in mechanical consistency. once u got to a certain point with ur consistency, its almost impossible to dial it far enough down to a given rank without looking too suspicious about it. its simply impossible to intentionally mess up a touch a gc would usually get always perfectly while other ranks have to work or often need some luck to get that done.
Hey do you think you could give a shadow defence tutorial I can save the shots in custom training but the hard part is knowing how to position against people who are dribbling or bounce dribbling
true, i played 2v2 ranked with a mate that just picked up the game, got him to c3 , when i was only gc myself . so def possible at least in 2s, its harder in 3s tho. this was some years ago when the skill cap was a bit lower.
I'm GC and have no hat in the ring here(in fact I agree with Luke's hypothesis), but it totally defeats the point it the players are from his coaching program. Anyone who has been GC1 or below in the past few seasons knows that that diamond did not play like a solo Q ranked teammate. And of course they're going to mesh well with Luke as he's the one who taught them how to play and shaped their playstyle.
Luke I think an episode or two maybe just one or two ranks below where your real rank is and that would be a really good example. That way you can actually get mechanical and show us how you normally play rocket league.
3s would be fun to watch and helpful and even inspiring. My ranking is highest 1s, 2s, 3s in descending order. More people more chaos less control over the flow of the match
The thing I see in these “lower ranked” videos is that the “Smurf” shows how to play “not mechanically” but not doing speed flips and resets. The movement is such an advantage because people at these ranks don’t move as fluidly. I think some kind of handicap, ie no power slide, would make it more level than simply leaving out high level mechanics. Nothing wrong with this video, it was good. I’m just saying that’s the consistent flaw in road to ssl and the like.
if theres anything these types of gameplays (road to ssl style) prove its that higher rank players play the game slow with gc recoveries. Positioning is good but the proper use of brakes, powerslide, and recovery air roll is what really sets it apart.
I know you're quitting rocket league eventually, but I wanna say thank you. When I started, I did it on my own until I got stuck for a month in silver. Started watching you and practicing, played back, practiced defense, and made it all the way to d2 so far, just playing 2nd man with randoms every day.
first of all, being in a private match invalidates all of it. I know it isn’t just me that gets the rush and knows to try harder when somethings at stake, and also i tend to play better when i know my teammate is better than i am.
I feel like just having the mindset of a gc is the most powerful asset a gc has so altho i definitely learned from the video i do think its very difficult to kinda nerf ur skill even if we put a limit on ur mechanics. Better mechanics is proven to have less to do w increased rank than game knowledge. You can also tell ur teamate relied on u multiple times when they should have gone simply because you were there and you have the edge in game knowledge. I think inserting yourself into a private match under the guise of being a lower rank would lead to a much more authentic game. As in using an alt acc and saying ur just another player from the program. Overall tho, great video, im gonna start checking for demos on my out rotations a lot more and staying back on the front post when im late getting tk back post much more.
thank you. this is the only comment to point this out. the reason he has so many "free goals" is because he knows how to get those free goals. hard stuck players don't understand that. and on top of that he still uses recovery and prediction skill the mid ranks simply don't have yet. sure the knowledge he's giving is good and will help, but i feel like most "smurfing to help" people forget about stuff like this and just assumes we are blindly playing.
solo que 2s would be better. This is good but the champs know you are a better player and that they are on camera which can totally affect if they play
Like your videos are very inspiring but I need you to go into a gold match and do the same thing. When you’re that low in a lobby of golds everyone’s ball chasing and stealing boost so I need your input when it’s 3 people burning boost constantly just to ball chase
Oh look at how frustrated you look when "oh really wanted my teamate to go because he just took the boost" That's literally every game multiple times for people at these ranks... Out of touch much? You looked upset over it happening one time.
All anyone has to do to prove you've been misleading is look at a bunch of your past videos then look up your opponents names on the tracker to see you have played a lot of "GC tips" at diamond-low champ ranks.
No handi cap and maybe coms. So you can point out the flawed ideas the lower ranked teammate has about when they should go what they “think” they should be doing.
I appreciate this video and what you're trying to show. I think it's helpful but not super representative of the reality of being stuck. Lemme (try to) sssplain: Cause like, in a match we're all usually the same rank more or less, so even if I were better than everyone else, it won't be by much. Like even the best Plat or diamond players won't be able to make as many good saves or accurate shots as you could in that video. Car control at those ranks is no where near as good as yours. So even against more evenly matched opponents, and even if we did our best to follow all your game sense advice and rules (lord knows we try haha) we're still going to whiff or miss saves and shots. Plus we're super inconsistent. Between our much worse car control and inconsistent execution overall, even if we had the right idea, that's why we tend to get stuck.
Hey Luke the way to make these videos better was to actually go solo Q in a smurf account instead of picking up players from your coaching program OR just coach someone through live comp games as you will always end up doing something that is not in champ/gc level. Def 2v2 and 3v3 between C1 and GC1
With your nearing retirement from rocket league RUclips in mind, if a crucial mechanic comes out and there’s little to no videos on it is there a possibility that you make a brand new series on that certain mechanic to add to the collection that you already have?
if you're on pc try a rings map. if you can't, go from goal post to goal post while air rolling. normal, top of post, and both sides. after you understand how to move without losing control or touching the ground, go around the field as close to the wall as you can without landing on the ground or wall. all while air rolling.
all u can do is praying to not verse smurfs 3x in row and IF u do, pray more that they just fuck around. and avoid in all costs to spam anything. they go wild XD. literally, since psyonix increased the mmr loss in every new season for 2s, there are more smurfs in champ than never before. its insanity
This doesn’t work in lower ranks I’m in plat teammates simply don’t rotate at all it’s all ball chase and just hitting the ball as hard as the can every time
I mean im not a low rank player but i think its not really showing anything. For example even when youre not using mechanics, you still have the decision making and experience of an gc3 what c2 players dont have. Thats a big different
I think if you could do the same but take a d2 and a d2 against champs and voice coach one of them live to stay back and go etc and see how they rank up
I can assure you that there is a truth to "hardstuck". At first: Being in champ after reaching gc3 isnt the same as reaching champ and then being stuck. For many its hard to even see what their mistakes are and even harder to improve them. The difficulty is that you have to stay consistent in your own skill while improving habits, mechanics, rotation and the overall understanding of rocketleague. My advice for people who believe themselves hardstuck: it takes time, dont give up and stay optimistic. If you get mad or annoyed you should stop playing and do something fun until you want to get into the game again. If you feel like you're not playing good that day just stay in freeplay or do some trainingspacks where you can focus on yourselves. The game is about you and noone else.
What should I do for the next smurf video? 🤔
Use a diamond/plat subscribers account to q 2v2s, random teammate and opponents that way
Luke I think you can bump your teammate out of rule 1's and it not be bad

Overall tho, great video, im gonna start checking for demos on my out rotations a lot more and staying back on the front post when im late getting tk back post much more.
thank you. this is the only comment to point this out. the reason he has so many "free goals" is because he knows how to get those free goals. hard stuck players don't understand that. and on top of that he still uses recovery and prediction skill the mid ranks simply don't have yet. sure the knowledge he's giving is good and will help, but i feel like most "smurfing to help" people forget about stuff like this and just assumes we are blindly playing.
Is there an age limit for the coaching
I would like you to bring us "The smurfing coach", you do, play and smurf, while aswering questions from the person you are coaching in voicechat
Thx! rly cool vidéo!
solo que 2s would be better. This is good but the champs know you are a better player and that they are on camera which can totally affect if they play
Please, could you do it in plat/Diam with no meca ?
Only placement and vision.
Like your videos are very inspiring but I need you to go into a gold match and do the same thing. When you’re that low in a lobby of golds everyone’s ball chasing and stealing boost so I need your input when it’s 3 people burning boost constantly just to ball chase
That sounded more like a sawz-all than a jackhammer
I fluctuate from mid plat to low diamond and I believe this is the rank where teammates blame each other the most.
Id love to see 3v3 with two lower rank ppl vs champs
ie c1 tm8s against c2-3s
Oh look at how frustrated you look when "oh really wanted my teamate to go because he just took the boost"
That's literally every game multiple times for people at these ranks...
That d2 is better than my c2-c3 team mates, like the defence and offence is so good!
I appreciate this video and what you're trying to show. I think it's helpful but not super representative of the reality of being stuck. Lemme (try to) sssplain:
Cause like, in a match we're all usually the same rank more or less, so even if I were better than everyone else, it won't be by much.
My mind just can’t comprehend the direction changes when air rolling in the air and it messes up my landings hits and aerial
if you're on pc try a rings map. if you can't, go from goal post to goal post while air rolling. normal, top of post, and both sides. after you understand how to move without losing control or touching the ground, go around the field as close to the wall as you can without landing on the ground or wall. all while air rolling.
So how do you handle going through champ as a champ when it's riddled with gcs lol.
all u can do is praying to not verse smurfs 3x in row and IF u do, pray more that they just fuck around. and avoid in all costs to spam anything. they go wild XD. literally, since psyonix increased the mmr loss in every new season for 2s, there are more smurfs in champ than never before. its insanity
@missfluffy8660 honestly though lol this is so accurate.
Smurf and ball chase like crazy! 😂
AMAZING Video IDEA TYSM
I would like to see you train me lol stuck D2 peak champ, love the videos BTW
Varying each episode would be cool. Like one could be 3v3, one with coms like you said
do this video for c3/gc1 games
"Anyone can flip reset, but not everyone can shadow defend"
You're an amazing coach but wtf
I'd like to think the hammering is you trying to get the information into our heads.
Break the Rule 1 (>;P) hahahahahaha
Wait Wait Wait... if my teammate is in a R1, I'm SOOOOOOOO demoing that other guy hahahahahahaha
That diamond was kinda cracked honestly
This doesn’t work in lower ranks I’m in plat teammates simply don’t rotate at all it’s all ball chase and just hitting the ball as hard as the can every time
I mean im not a low rank player but i think its not really showing anything. For example even when youre not using mechanics, you still have the decision making and experience of an gc3 what c2 players dont have. Thats a big different
yo spook luke i am hard stuck d3 with very good mechanics and i dont know what to do
Nice new vid I love you spokluke
who is this spok guy?
The RUclips is called spookluke 😊❤
Do it as someone who complains about bad TM. solo queue 2v2 with no comms.
Nice vid bro
