hey! i tried every step and it worked except that the shortcuts (Lobby Server.exe) do not work, they say something like "The drive or network connection that the shortcut 'Lobby Server - Shortcut.lnk' refers to is. unavailable. Make sure that the disk is properly inserted or the network resource is available, and then try again." is there a fix to this?
Shortcuts must have broken from some reason. Go to your Lobby Server, Map Server, and World Server folders, then go to bin folder, then Release folder and launch the Lobby Server.exe, Map Server.exe and World Server.exe.
thank you, it worked!@@darkfuseion although i am stuck on another part - the launchers dont seem to give me the ffxiv_patches folder. maybe you could give me a link to it? or are there any steps to doing so?
@sephiroth6618 If you use the Seventh Umbral Launcher, it downloads the patches for you. By default they should go in your documents folder. If that doesn't work let me know
9:00 The guide didn't say anything about it but it worked for me. I've spent like 8 hours trying to set it up and then found this video, tried the restart all services and then restarted the Lobby, Map, and World servers and suddenly, I can get into the character creation screen.
hello! :) thank you for the video - i have everything set up and in-game right now. do you know if there is a way to view cutscenes past the quest Futures Perfect? i'm looking at the unending journey right now and every slot past then is empty save for two [en] placeholders. i see that others have uploaded videos of them viewing To Kill a Raven and other 1.23 content years ago through project meteor, but can't seem to figure it out. thank you for your help!
This is the only way I know how to do it. Head over to your client cutscene folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XIV\client\cut) Make sure you back up any files you swap or you will have to reinstall the client to get them back if you lose them. Next head down to your "man50250" folder in the cutscene folder and then copy the "man50250" file inside that folder. Next head up to your "man0l000" folder and paste "man50250" file inside the man0l000 folder. Rename the man50250 file to man0l000 and overwrite it but remember to back up any files you overwrite or you can move them to a different folder first. Next go to your Unending Journey again (you don't need to close the client during any of this if you have it in window mode) and load Shapeless Melody Cutscene 1 and it should play the Titan video. Man0l000 is your Shapless Melody Cutscene 1 folder. If you want to watch other videos, just repeat the process. Here is a link to some unfinished videos on the wiki you can use to swap around - ffxivclassic.fragmenterworks.com/wiki/index.php/Unfinished_Content
The exe files are in their own folders. Look in Lobby, Map and World folders then go to bin folder and release or debug and find the exe there. The shortcuts broke for some reason. Just ignore them or right click and make new shortcuts from the exes.
I tried to work it out but i get this error when i launch via seventh umbral launcher '' failed to launch game: specified location dosent contain the game'' any idea what the issue could be?
Nevermind, i redirected to the 1.0 launcher, however now suddenly my game wants to update and when it tries to update the umbral with patches it now says '' download failed wrong file size''
@epicgamerman45 I'm getting the same error with a different client. Let me go back to my other client and see if that fixes it. It's possible that the launcher has finally gone offline. I have the updates though so I'll try to manually patch. If I have to manually patch, then I'll upload the patches and post a link.
@epicgamerman45 Ok i confirmed the launcher has finally gone offline. I will upload the patches and send you a link. You will need to move your patches folder into your documents folder and then run the launcher again. I have a few things to do but I'll upload and send you a link as soon as I can.
@epicgamerman45 I'm just a fan of the project. I'm just helping spread the server. The real heroes are the devs who started it. But yes, when I get the patches uploaded, it will fix your problem with the launcher. It will be quick and easy.
Having a strange issue, everything is built and (Since I have over 16 threads) when I lower affinity for the launcher, I can access XIV in-game title menu, but when I try to click 'start' past the menu I just get a blank loading screen, or error 13001 "The lobby server connection has encountered an error." I believe this is because when I start the lobby, map, and world servers, those .cmd menus build and then just immediately close. I'm not sure why, and I am not sure how to lower affinity for those (They wouldn't stay up long enough for me to do so in task manager). Any possible fix for this? Any help is appreciated.
I'm not at my pc right at the moment, but make sure you have Wamp running. If you are unable to log in to your database (heidisql), then you may not have wamp running. Nothing will work if wamp is not running. Let me know if you tried that and we will figure this out one way or another. Also if you are using the shortcuts (if you didn't build the server yourself) I made to launch the 3 servers, the shortcuts themselves stopped working for some reason. You can go into your Lobby, map, and world server folders then head to bin folder, then to release folder and find the .exe (lobby server.exe) and launch them manually. I made shortcuts for fun so just go into the 3 folders and launch from the .exe file instead
So I've been thinking about this more. If the 3 servers are closing instantly, I'd guess there may have been an issue when building your servers in Visual Studio, and they probably need to be built again. Did you get any errors when building? Here is a video I made going through the whole build. There is a particular part that was left out of the Project Meteor wiki page that I covered at 10:23 in the video. It shouldn't be the reason your servers are crashing instantly but may fix a known issue after creating a character. Anyways, you may need to change your Net Framework to 4.7.2 and your Mysql to 8.0.31. But if I had to guess, it sounds like your servers were just built wrong, and that's causing the crashes. I have a link in the description to the server I built so you can try that if manually building isn't working for you. Anyways, here is the video and the part that was left out of the wiki. Skip to 10:23. ruclips.net/video/VE1Jv8iar2s/видео.html
I'm also getting to the point where I can log in and see the title screen, but experience the 13001 error. My lobby, map, and world applications will run for a moment only to close. They do not stay open. Wamp is running the entire time without any issues, but the servers themselves will not stay open. I don't know what to do at this point to keep them from shutting down the minute they run. I have tried recompiling everything from the ground up, following the steps ultra carefully especially in building the servers. But got the same results. They built without errors, but they just won't stay open.
Did you use my server included in the description? If so, the shortcuts i made to launch the 3 servers broke. You can launch the 3 servers this way, go into your lobby, map, and world server folders, then head to the bin folder, then to release folder and find the .exe (lobby server.exe) and launch them manually. I made shortcuts for fun so just go into the 3 folders and launch from the .exe file instead. If you still have trouble, let me know.
So I followed this guide, got all the way to the part where i create an account etc. But when I open the seventh umbral launcher it doesn't patch anything, and when I go to log in it says "Failed to launch game: Specified location doesn't contain the game". I double checked in the game settings of the seventh umbral launcher that the game location is set to my steamapps\common\Final Fantasy XIV online folder. Am I missing something?
Ok I figured it out, I had to point to the boot folder and not just my XIV folder in general. Now it's crashing every time i launch, it'll hang there for a few seconds then crash. I did a dxdiag and it says I only have 4 cores, I also tried changing the affinity and only selecting a few CPU's, only one CPU, all but one and it still crashes almost instantly.
Ok an update to the update, I couldn't figure out the issue BUT this guide *doesn't* mention that if you do this than you can't actually play regular XIV without reinstalling the game. I tried to and the vanilla launcher just crashes and the dalamud launcher gives me an error "essential game files have been altered/broken so the game can neither update nor launch, please reinstall. So if you plan to do this, do it on a computer that you do not regularly play xiv on or you will have to uninstall and reinstall the game every time.
I'll get my laptop and see if I can figure out what's going on. I don't remember ffxiv 1.0 installing in steam apps folder. Are you using 1.0 client or retail client, they are different. I don't play retail, but Seventh Umbral won't patch retail client. Anyways I'm going to go back and read your comments, and I'll try to help. Just letting you know I have seen your comments, and I'll do my best to help. I could be wrong here too since I don't play retail but the retail client shouldn't bother the 1.0 client since Seventh Umbral points 1.0 client to your server and shouldn't affect retail client files at all. I don't play retail so I can't confirm.
@@darkfuseion thanks! I'm using retail I think? It's whatever version steam downloaded lol. The video didn't say I'd need a 1.0 client, when the seventh umbral launcher asked where the game was installed I pointed it to my xiv folder and it patched. Do I need a special 1.0 client?
@cvance2387 Yes, you will need the 1.0 client. It's a completely different game from retail. You should be able to find it on archive.org but if you can't find it let me know
sad to say this didnt work for me. I initially followed the textfile, and when it kept crashing came back here to double check. Followed every step of this and still keeps crashing instantly
If the client is crashing instantly, you likely have a PC with more than like 15 cores. 1.0 doesn't work with that many cores. You will need to set your affinity to 14 or less. You can open the Seventh Umbral launcher, then open your task manager, and go find launcher.exe and right click and set your affinity to 14, and the game will stop crashing. You will have to do this every time you launch the game. It might be under the details tab in task manager
@@darkfuseion actually fixed it so tyvm. Also windows translations on those settings are really weird in my language so it took me quite a while to find.
You can find all commands in the project meteor > data > scripts > commands > gm folder. All commands begin with "!" (example !warp or !givegil), and you should be able to use all commands by default. Im not sure how to get gm tags unless it's in heidisql, but I couldn't find anything. If you want Judges armor, you can find the item numbers in gamedata_items table in heidisql. If you used my link to download the server, you can open the install text, and the wiki is at the top, and you should be able to find commands and other stuff about the server from the wiki link or you can Google Project Meteor FFXIV and find their wiki.
Also I'm not sure if I'm on retail or client. I downloaded through a the Archives site linked in the description because they had a torrent for XIV as well.
Are you using Seventh Umbral to update the game? Also, the 1.0 client is around 5.3gb before updating with Seventh Umbral. If it's much bigger than that, it's probably the wrong client.
I tried a different client and I'm getting the same error. It's possible the Seventh Umbral Launcher finally went offline or maybe it's a bad client. Ill will try a different client but if that doesn't work i have the updates save and I'll try to manually patch with Seventh Umbral. I don't know how to do it either and haven't ever tried, but I gotta have friends first, I guess, lol. Here's some tips you might try that I saw on the discord (they didn't give details) You need to port forward Lobby, World, and your webserver for public IPs. You need to adjust the Servers table in MySQL/MariaDB. You need to adjust your servers.xml file. They purposely didn't document how to open the server to the public (that I know of) on their wiki. So, unfortunately, I won't be much help either because I honestly don't know how to do it. Hopefully, the above will help you, though. If you have more questions, I'll still try to help if I can. You may also need to edit the ip address in your lobby and map config.ini files in the server folder and possibly the world server config file, too. I'm just taking guesses here, though.
@darkfuseion Hey, I appreciate the reply! Yeah, that all seems a bit too much for me lol. (I understand port forwarding at least XD) The only reason I was able to get this setup in the first place was because of the guide. Though, if someone else were to host their own I'd love to connect to it. ^^ (Since I'd believe connecting is simpler than hosting) I also recall the Seventh Umbral launcher website once had a server that people could connect to, but it's been down for years :(
Here's my best guess, it might help. Open Heidisql, go down to Servers table and open it. Make sure you are on the data tab and change the address to your external ip, then save changes. The servers.xml file is in the Seventh Umbral Launcher install folder. Edit the xml file in notepad and change the ip address (external ip) and save. Since you know how to portforward, it would just be a matter of finding the ports for Lobby, World (don't need Map) and webserver (wamp server maybe) and forward them. It's mentioned that you don't need to forward the SQL (assuming its Mariadb/heidisql?) server. Also, I don't know how to find these ports. A quick Google search would probably solve that. Maybe something like Wireshark would give you the port numbers. Lastly you might mess around with the config files for map, lobby, and world servers. So they would be in your server folder in the bin > release or debug folder then find the config.ini and edit it in notepad and change either the ip address or the host ip address and do it for all 3 configs, maybe. You will just have to experiment, but that's my best guess without ever trying it myself.
No, I'm just a fan of the project. I'm just trying to help others be able to connect o the server by uploading this video. I think the official Meteor discord server is private.
You should be able to find it on Archive.org, but if you have trouble finding it, let me know, and I'll help you hunt it down. I got church soon, so I'll be gone for a few hours, but just let me know if you need more help, and I'll try my best.

No, I'm just a fan of the project. I'm just trying to help others be able to connect o the server by uploading this video. I think the official Meteor discord server is private.
From where i can install the Game?
You should be able to find it on Archive.org, but if you have trouble finding it, let me know, and I'll help you hunt it down. I got church soon, so I'll be gone for a few hours, but just let me know if you need more help, and I'll try my best.
The links are dead.
The first link worked for me, but the 2nd link didn't. I'll try to replace the 2nd link in a moment. It will take some time, but you might try the first link again. Maybe the site was bugging out momentarily.
@@darkfuseion Well the first link is giving me a ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR
OK, I'm trying to get it uploaded again. Hunting a file host that will keep the file forever. I found one but keeps stopping at 6% for some reason. Anyways I'll reply again when I have it up
OK, I changed the link and reuploaded. Give it a try
Is the link down? It won't load.
Link for the server? I just tried it and it worked for me.
@@darkfuseion For some reason, it won't load. I get this.

Just now noticed your comment, sorry. OK I got it to work once, then it stopped working. I'll re-upload it somewhere else and post link here and update the description as well. Thanks again for pointing that out. Sorry for getting back so late. Edit: I tried again and it started working but I'll just upload it elsewhere anyways
@@darkfuseion Same thing, link won't load. Tried both google chrome and edge.
