- Today I am giving an old French provincial dresser a furniture makeover. I bought this at the thrift store for $40. I removed the latex paint with citrisrtip before recording the video. I'm sharing a few furniture flipping tips and tricks for when you're feeling stuck in a creative rut. I will be using Dixie belle paint to create an Electric blue hue to make these colors POP! I hope you enjoy this furniture flip! ❤️

I completely agree about the first coat! It’s where I do all the damage and then use the second coat to make magic. This turned out beautifully - and that hardware makes me want to do a whole piece in a deep blue and gold combo.

Thanks for sharing your process of creativity. I haven't painted my first piece yet. So watching you go through that process gave me the courage to get started. I have about 8 different pieces in my home or my children's home that I'd like to paint, and I've tried to decide what to do with each piece. It's confusing because furniture can look great with all sorts of different colors and types of paints. Now I understand what I can do a color and if I don't like it, it's so easy to change color after the first coat. Thanks, that really helped a lot! I love the way your blending made that dresser stand out and shine! Beautiful!

Absolutely beautiful. Do you paint the back of your pieces too or do anything back there?
Thank you! If the piece is in bad condition or has odors, I will shellac the back and then paint it, but for the most part, if the backboard is in good condition, I will leave it as is.

Thank you! Keep at it. I had trouble too, but I just kept practicing and kept at it.
Gator hide is thicker, so you would want to use it for tabletops or any place that gets a lot of use. Topcoat is a finish and sealer. It’s a seal for your paint. I apply at least two coats of sealer and it provides excellent protection. The topcoat is thinner. You could also use it on a tabletop but if you’re getting a lot of use, you might want to go with the thicker option, which would be gatorhide. They both work great. If you’re just beginning though, I would stick with topcoat for a while as Gatorade can be tricky and isn’t always necessary.
did you say that you removed all the latex paint before you applied slick stick?

How long do you have to wait after wax to put clothes in there? Or does it even effect the clothes?
