Great performance - not many vids of Parabola on YT, but this one is stunning both in terms of the playing and the setting - the rain is such an excellent touch.
This was the first Leo Brouwer piece I heard, on a Narciso Yepes album! I still remember the first time I heard it, back when I was working in a library. It was after closing time, but I was working on inventory and decided to play the next CD in the Yepes boxed set. I found this so intriguing that I sat down in a chair and actively listened to the entire track. This was a great performance and a neat location, worked well for Brouwer 😎.
This piece has been very special to me for a long time too. For awhile when I was much younger my parents would take us on trips throughout Europe. I always made it my goal to find a rare music book store wherever we went…I bought this sheet music in Paris over a decade ago, at the time I had not even heard the composition but was intrigued by the title and the way it was written which looked to me like a work of art. And then hearing the opening line is what really sold me
Hi Ryan, we only met once a long time ago; I'm a friend of Mark Farley, who sent me the link. Your performance is absolutely stunning, and I say that as a huge Brouwer fan! Thank you for putting this up for the public to hear!
Joe, you're comment has put a smile to my face. Naturally I am unsure as to how my performance really is and your comment made me feel a sense of validation upon reading. Mark always spoke highly of you when I studied under his wing...thank you
