A point you may be missing is that most of the young jamaican artist music got absolutely no substance. There's hardly any story for other people to relate to. Jamaican artist need to go and try craft their skills.
Have you notice that most of their songs are coming from the same rhythm ? Personally as a Jamaican myself I only listen to Afrobeat and African music than my own jamaican music. The flavour in dance hall music is no longer exist. When I need to listen to jamaican authentic music I listen to G T Taylor. Jamaican kills off their own music. People a nuh fool because we can identify good music.
I was in Jamaica in April and the music airways abused my ears with pure damn rubbish music. It is sad to say but the 80s and early 90s are the platform for jamaican music. Dance hall music gone to the dogs.

I can relate to what he is saying. I love reggae and when i sing it without the accent it doesn't sound authentic, but i feel akward faking an accent to get that certain sound. I'm proud that my boy just followed his heart and found his voice.

Why do Jamaicans feel so grateful when anyone copies them.
Jamaicans are uniquely talented even when they are doing nonsense.
I'm always amazed how overwhelmed they become when they are imitated.
