The writers really did Serena's character so dirty towards the end. The only storylines they gave her were dating horrible man after horrible man. And then had her marry the worst one. All the good writing went to Blair and Chuck after a while and everyone else became an afterthought. Even Georgina got watered down.
Everything that happened during season 4 and after was so nasty that makes it more impossible to believe that Dan was gossip girl or that Serena actually married someone that hurt her and her friends so badly.
It would’ve made more sense if it was both dan and Jenny working together as GG. they both could’ve took turns posting on the site . So if you saw Dan seeing a GG post ( looking shocked) , then it was jenny who posted it and vice versa . It actually makes a lot of sense because dan was a writer and Jenny wanted to be on GG and be part of the it crowd.

IMO Juliette was the best villain in the show, I found her entire story line and past rly interesting. Plus she was the only character that wasn’t dimmed so blair could shine again. I felt like serena could’ve actually turned her life around bc she actually understood how her actions affected others for the first time in the show.
This!!! As much as I hated her at times, she had no mercy, past villains were former friends or had a crush on Serena, Juliette was out for blood and had a valid reason. I hated how then everything shifted to be Lilly's fault and Serena was once again the golden girl victim of her own beauty.
@@gleidissantos5815 I actually liked that we see again and again how things are almost always her fault but it’s double edged and we can understand her reasoning as well as why she is the way she is. They could’ve done so much more with her character she was so complex at times. I also hated that they revert blair back to her s1 self after putting her through so much, adding development and then just taking it away

I don't know if it's because they ran out of ideas and pinned the blame of whatever was happening on the character most likely to, or if it was a way to get the ratings up by going back to the things and traits that make the show so famous in it first two seasons, or if they simply didn't know how to write past the angst and scheming, they didn't know how to make it interesting with mature characters so even out of college they have to go back to their high school selves (the whole changing Blair for a Hotel was such a season one Chuck thing to do) 🤷🏻♀️

Like when Blair and Chuck are apart her relationship with herself, Serena and Dan change. She distances from Serena and finds she has commonality with Dan. Same for Serena, without Dan and Nate she’s no longer the sunshine character, she becomes troubled, for Dan, it’s Nate. Nate was the only one who really cared for him and when he screwed him over we stop seeing his character the same. When Blair is w Chuck she clings to Serena. Idk Serena was right in wanting to cut them off and just live her own life somewhere else. Blair too, they were right but the men in their lives knew that they couldn’t get them unless they were codependent on each other.
I don't quite get how someone in the position of a professor would fall for an email scam. That's obviously not an offer anyone in their right mind would make in writing.
This is why Dan as Gossip Girl never made sense. And they should have NEVER revealed who Gossip Girl is. They ruined the most valuable character in the show. Absolutely tragic. No wonder Penn Badgley took on the role of Joe Goldberg, it a parody of the Dan Humphrey character.

Yet he was also hypocritical about that as well, bc after Rufus and Lily get married, he sort of ditched his hate the rich as he enjoys the perks by getting money from Lily, and spending time in the Hamptons etc . It happens in most teen shows. The writers try to incoprate the college aspect, not realizing they kinda did it when the chacrters were in HS and just learn right away that college is not as easy to write like high school, and so as a result, they slowly, but surely kill the college scene altogether.
