Wish there were more on yarn washing. Would like reviews of cotton yarns and baby yarns especially from lion brand or Caron and typical Joanne’s n Michaels or Hobby Lobby stuff.
I love this type of video. In fact, I wish more fiber arts RUclipsrs would do more detailed reviews. Swatches, wash & dry, etc. Measuring before and after wash to check for shrinkage.
Thank you for this video! I'm a new-ish crocheter and still have much to learn. Washing scares the heck out of me so this gave me a bit more confidence to try it.
Thank you for this excellent video! I'm mesmerized by how you yarn over. Lol. And thank you for the "cheat sheet" with the number of skeins needed for different projects. I've always had trouble with either picking up too many or too few. I'll have to print it out to keep with me for the next time I shop for yarn!
Always wanting to know if price matters when it comes to the quality after washing. I would also like to know how some of the more natural yarns hold up.
With the pandemic turning many towards crafting to fill time spent staying indoors, it's great that you mentioned that acrylic yarn's melting issue. So many in the new wave of crafters have made many potholders and can really injure themselves or others when exposing acrylic to heat. Very responsible of you!
Might be a strange question but... do you wash your items before you gift them? I’d like to see you do a review on washing the dollar tree yarns I use so much of it. Thanks for all the hard work you put into this video. 💚😊💚😊
Not sure if you did already but would love to know how Michael's Value Yarn and Loops & Threads Impeccable would wash up. Might get there before you though. Like this loads!! Thanks!
I have put Color Made Easy in the dryer. I didn't realize...🙊 It actually dried up nicely, no real pilling either after multiple washes. This yarn holds up well. I can't say that about other LB brands. 🤷
Thank you for the demonstration of the different yarns. Now I know to make a swatch and follow the directions on the sleeve of the yarn. I have only used acrylics and cotton. I have bought some skeins of wool from Hobby Lobby to try to make a shawl with. Would love to watch demonstrations you have that could help crocheters and knitters would are new and us older ones who would like to make shawls, sweaters and hats. Love how you do your yarn overs. Will try that method just for fun to see if it works better than the way I was taught back in the 70's.
I have never done this, but am now going to do my own reviews when using a new yarn. I would love a review of Caron Simply Soft yarn - I use it for lots of baby blankets. Thank you for this info.
Thank you. It would be a plus if you were to make two swatches of each yarn so that after washing one of each, you can better compare the before and after.
I’m a new to crochet. I want to make a blanket for someone but need it to be soft and drape what yarn would you suggest. I really like the velvet yarn but not sure how that would work for a quilt pattern crochet blanket. I truly appreciate any suggestions oh and I’m looking to use fall colors. Thank you
Try ZZ Twist by Lion Brand was the best, but for some reason they discontinued it. It didn't split because it was twisted the opposite direction from regular yarns. If anyone has any influence, please ask them to bring it back. Only lefties need the regular twist direction.
I would love to see how these swatches look after 50 washes. Or better yet, how about the antipill yarns that Premier and Lion offer and Hobby Lobby’s low pill ‘Soft and Sleek line all look after 50 washes.
I noticed a few of them would not be fringe worthy on a project. Notably my fav Mandala Ombré which I made a poncho n as I worked on it I knew I could not make o fringe on the finished poncho, but I did finish the last row with the shell stitch. It has held up with a few washes n dries too. Beautiful yarn.
Ive made several blankets with Bernat Blanket yarn a few years ago and gave them for Xmas presents. They have all been washed numerous times over the tears and all have held up perfectly!
I will not use Tide on anything. It has a tendency and always has to wear out your fabric and fade the clothes. I spend too much time with my crochet and knitted items so when washed I use to use Ivory but that has been discontniued so I use Dreft or Woolite to wash my finished items.
My family has used Tide for decades. Never an issue with any colors fading on crochet yarn projects, including blankets that are 30+ years old and have been washed countless times. One specifically was used daily and washed weekly for just over 25 years. The colors still look the same as the day I finished making it.

Thank you for the suggestion!
Update we did get more mandala ombré colors. I think they added like 10 new colors so now there’s at least 18 different color combinations

So glad you enjoyed the video!
Very helpful. I’m always afraid to wash and dry projects. Thank you
I would love to see a video done on various cotton yarns to see which ones are the most durable for dish/wash cloths.

Your shawl sounds beautiful!
I’m making a flag out of Red Heart Burgandy, Navy and White. What should I do to make sure it doesn’t bleed in the wash?
I'm always curious how velvet yarns or fluffy yarns like Bernat blanket hold up in the wash and whether they stay soft.
I wash my bernat blankets and they come out fine. Never used the velvet though
WHAT KINDA HOOKS ARE YOU USING?
Hi there. Yarn newbie. What is the halo effect? Is that the fuzz that can hang around the yarn I'd you look at it against the light?
Hi Michelle! Yes - that's exactly what it is! Though there are some yarns where that's an intentional feature of it.
Hello crocheter from
Philippines I’m a crocheter form Philippines I’m a thread user and yarn but I love to use thread for my project I love thread lol
How to prevent pilling; are anti-pilling yarns really anti-pilling; and which is the best. Thank you for your consideration.
Thank you for the suggestion!!
Any insight on how Bernat Blanket Yarn handles washes? I have several blankets that I've made recently but am worried about washing.
Thanks for that suggestion! I do have some of that on hand, will need to include it on my next review!

Lion brand heartland please!!
This was really interesting and informative to listen to.
Love this! Do I Love This Yarn from Hobby Lobby!
Thank you for the helpful content....new here
