Peter Hakim was the reason I started bowling lefty when I was a kid. Didn't switch fully to lefty until I was grown and broke my right elbow but been bowling lefty ever since and it was an easy transition since I played around with it for so many years.
I Bowled with Al Jacobs( RIP) up in Yonkers. Al Bowled many scratch tournaments in Long Island and was a Great Bowler and Super cool Guy. Ps; Al Jacobs Knew Peter Hakim and also was friends with Jim Lusting( RIP)
Bowlersinger, Did You bowl with Al Jacobs( RIP)? I asked because Al Jacobs Knew Peter Hakim very Well, and Al Jacobs Bowled in The Eastern Seaboard League with Tom Kavanaugh and Al was an amazing Bowler. I Bowled with Al up in Yonkers, and even up in his late sixties into seventies He Rolled an amazingly strong and accurate Ball, holding down 210 or better average up until He sadly Passed.🙏
I bowled at Garden City bowl back in 1987, in an amateur bowlers tour handicap tourney ( at the time i was just bowling for 2 years and only averaged 165, but the tournament director told oul man to NOT put any oil in Machine!!!!! My urethane balls were hooking left into the channel at the Arrows!!!!! If i tried to loft it it would hook and roll out. I reached for the one ball that might have stayed on the lane ( Black Knight) with Factory Finish and the Director said it was illegal ( too hard) i smelled bullshit because that same ball was used and inspected by same Tournament Director at several other tournaments!!!! The amateur bowlers tour had sandbaggers coming in with 40 pins handicap Per game, rolling the ball like Pete Weber or Mark Roth( RIP) and shooting 700 scratch plus getting ( 120pins to rub salt in the wounds)
I still remember bowling pot games with Doug Wallace way back. When reactive came out he was a beast and I never saw anyone strike high flush as much as he did.
If Storm DeVincent would have put the ball into the swing on his 3rd of 5 steps, he would have synchronized his timing such that the ball would be in position for him to hit up on his shot during the release. He didn't figure that out until the 10th frame.
Another telecast I have to add to the list when someone on the bowling science forum wants to say the modern/yo-yo release is a recent development. Lol
Ron Palumbi always looked like he had to work so hard to knock the pins down, all that power and speed didn’t seem to do him a whole lot of good. Guys like Brian Voss and David Ozio seemed to knock down as many pins as Palumbi with a lot less effort. Both Palumbi and Bob Handley looked like robots out there on the lanes.
Mike Aulby: 211 Doug Wallace: 207 Peter Hakim: 267 Mike Aulby: 246 Peter Hakim: 232 Ron Palombi Jr: 223 Peter Hakim: 216 Storm DeVincent: 206 Hakim Wins!
Whatever happened to Peter Hakim!!!

Doug Wallace was a forerunner to the super crankers.....man he torqued the ball on release...damn.

I bowled OBA's with Doug in 90's. Nice guy.
Seems like Bo was a bit sour that Wallace was on the telecast and he wasn't....lol
Peter Hakim did bowl really well in the Long Island Open

And Mike Aulby is still bowling the same way 37 years later....
