Is it true that when you clean this you should take the dust cap off? And that the dust cap when left in during cleaning will actually make the water enter the regulator?
Dust caps are made to keep dust out, they're not usually made to be water-tight and if you leave a dust cap on with any moisture inside then chances of water ingress increase. When cleaning the regulator when it's depressurised, I would hold my thumb over the inlet for extra safety. Once it's all dried thoroughly then I replace the dust cap.
