Games nor consoles have been region locked since Playstation 2.
However, you won’t find a PS5 in any store in any country, not even Australia.
If you however buy one from there, you can use it in any country, and play any game.

Love the part about AC Valhalla. I think as Lucy said, the main strong point for is the one off characters in mysteries. One of the memorable ones for me is a Viking who’s lost his family and friends but can’t cry or scream unless his leader says so. And so Eivor gives him permission and then he just starts shouting and crying. That really hit me and made love the game even more.
Fun fact: no one on this show has quarantine hair.
In Brazil we already pay 1k dollars in retail price. System sold out everywhere with stores selling them without having stock. Giving a 46 business days for delivery. Scalpers here are charging 2k dollars for the ps5. Xbox going for 1.5K.

Y’all they’ve announced that this was the biggest launch ever so they’ve stocked more than they were able for PS4. I get that it’s all online, but scalpers were always an issue. Supply can never meet demand. I’ve seen so many mad but they definitely didn’t mess up here which is amazing considering COVID-19.

Lucy, everything sells in NZ/Aus as it gets released, they just sold another batch of PS5 on Amazon Aus in ~10 minutes, and the hangover from Covid means most (all?) the NZ/Aus stores are doing online orders only, with in-store pickup. My impression is they are not as hard to get as in US.
7:00 Out of pure luck I got a PS5 tonight through Sony Direct I still feel shocked I actually was able to get one especially on the day Sony tweeted that they were completely sold out! I am so grateful to be able to get one and I hope anyone trying currently to be patient and allow Sony to flood the market so normal people don't have to pay way too much and that they will get a better chance.

@@gurjindersingh3843 well i got a platinum on Astros playroom which is a must play when you get a PS5 and i have been playing Spiderman Remastered mostly with some older PS4 games thrown in the mix that run much better now.
The best way to get rid of scalpers would actually be to deter or punish the people who buy from them. For example, for the first year or so, restricting warranty behind proof of purchase from a retailer.
If someone spends triple the retail price for a PS5, that person is voluntarily giving a scalper the financial power to purchase 3 more which is contributing to the issue, so I don't think its unethical to have consequences for those who buy from them.
Also I HIGHLY SUGGEST BEST BUY TO ANYONE WHO DOESNT HAVE ONE YET!! If they go back in stock they have great measures in place to avoid scalping! It wasn’t like the frantic BS that every other website had. Just make sure you have an account with all your shipping and payment info...AND MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE PHONE THAT’S NUMBER IS ASSOCIATED WITH THE BEST BUY ACCOUNT OR A TAB WITH YOUR EMAIL READY TO GO....BECAUSE THEY WILL ASK YOU WHICH TO SEND A VERIFICATION CODE TO LOG BACK IN...because you will automatically be logged out after adding to cart. And in order to proceed you need to enter the verification code.
The 55" MAY be big enough, depending on how far away you sit from your TV. It may not. I sit 10.5' away from my TV, and my 65" is TOO SMALL to notice the difference between 1080p and 4K, and which is why I've been waiting to upgrade my 1080p Plasma to a 4K TV. I won't be buying a 4K TV for that room until, I can afford to get one that is 85" (and meets all my other TV requirements.)
The games haven't been region locked since PS3 (PS2 was the last to have regions on game discs.) Only DLC may be region locked (to your account location not a physical setting on the console.) Blu Ray Movies are still region based, but you could change the region setting on the PS4 to play out of region Blu Rays, not sure if they're enabling that on PS5, but I'd assume they would.
Wait, all the footage that we've seen shows driving vehicles in 3rd person......so were you not able to do that or is that no longer a feature?
Playstation games are no longer region locked! You can easily import and use Japanese or UK games on a US PS4/5! Switch is also not region locked. Hardware may be different due to the plugs.

Funny. So much talk about scalpers when the OFFICIAL price here in Brazil for the PS5 is around 845 bucks. Yeah, the struggle is real down here, folks.
Not sure how it is in the US, but the box in Japan says that you need proof of purchase to get warranty services. Media is spreading the word out, advising people not to buy from scalpers, since they will not provide that info. (Personal info of the scalper will be on that document, so they will most likely not send or provide that to you)
I live in Australia and my EB Games store has said that they wouldn't be getting anymore PS5's in until at LEAST April next year, because their preorders for the next 2 or 3 waves have all been filled. But that being said, no matter how you cut it, this scalping shit should be illegal. I don't give a flying toss what their excuse for doing it is (from the scalpers that is). Because they are ripping off legitimate customers who now can't get one from a retailer until April next year at least, but if they DO want to get one have to pay a ridiculous amount of money to get it. And part of the problem too is that retailers in relatively COVID free (for lack of a better term) countries like Australia and NZ, retailers need to start opening it up for PS5's to be sold 'physically' in store and not online only, and also as Brian said there NEEDS to be safeguards and security measures in place for buying online, for not only CAPTCHA, but also when you do buy from these sites and vendors online, it automatically records your details, and somehow shares it to all the other sites, so you can only buy 1 console from these sites, and if you do attempt to buy more, it locks you out. Because that's what it needs to be. One console PER address. Yes I know that's kind of bordering onto 'big brother' and 'privacy issues' and things like that, but that's what it needs to be. Because this what is happening now with scalpers is complete BS.
So when the announcement read 19th November PS5 releases for the 'rest of the world', it meant the rest of the world aside from a bunch of perhaps only third world coutries, like those from the Asian Subcontinent. No release date announced for India yet, for example. Expectation is maybe March next year. But hopefully sooner. Let's see.
I work at one of the major American retailers with online PS5 purchases and in store pickups. It’s so depressing having to tell scores of in store customers each day that not only does my store not have any PS5’s, but that all purchases are online and we don’t have any tips or tricks to increase anyone’s chances of getting one. Scalpers suck big time.

And I TOTALLY agree with Brian and what he said. Everyone you don't NEED the PS5 RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!. Wait until Sony irons out all the bugs and faults they are having, BEFORE you jump in. You can afford to wait. I won't be getting one for at least 6-12 moths for this reason.
It's funny cause you can't blame the scalpers, because people ARE paying $1500 for a PS5.

Everyone mentions the PS5 box that has an 8K icon on it, but the Series X box also has an 8K HDR blurb on the side of the box. 🤷♂️
There needs to be some pressure on scalpers to stop it. Some people say its capitalism, but I, and I know many others, say it's crap. -- So if you can help it, try and wait for a restock. It isn't worth supporting these second-hand mark ups. Let them sit on a pile of wasted money.

Aussie experience - retailer sites went into meltdown on release. Easily bought via the xbox online store direct from Microsoft, delivered to my door the day before the official release. Similar experience for my buddy.
I got a PS5 @ launch; but stock was heavily limited - New Zealand.
In australia even through we dobt having a big covid issue right now, we still couldn't walk into a store and buy one, all pre orders had to be done online, however you can chose to pick up your console from some stores where they allow it. I guess sony didn't want pictures online of people lining up at stores to buy a ps5 because it would create a lot of backlash on social media even though we are covid safe
Fun fact: 2.5 million PS5s sold. 127,343 real people have actually purchased a PS5. The rest are sitting in scalpers Garages.
I agree with the this sucks sentiment. I’m not paying a scalper one dime over retail as Brian mentioned. I know that scalping isn’t illegal, but Sony and Microsoft knew this was going to happen. It’s happened in the past like crazy and the Nintendo Switch has been being scalped up until the moment you read this. So I’m a bit upset with Sony and Microsoft treating their fan base in this manner.
To the Scalpers that read this: I hope you spend all of that glorious scalper money on paying off debt and cocaine.
Kia ora Beyond, another NZer here. There are no playstations available to order online and no stock in store whatsoever. Game stores are open and people are going about business fairly normally at covid alert level 1. However, no one is launching consoles in store to avoid the camp out lines which go against the "team of 5 million" virus efforts. There was definitely a bot issue happening here with the added problem of what I assume is a tiny amount of inventory allocated to NZ. There have only been two ps5 order chances: preorder day and another drop on launch day. I think I may have one coming but like Altano won't fully believe it until it is sitting in my living room.

No PS5's Here in New Zealand. I got one day one, pre ordered it from the Wharehouse. When I ordered it They didn't even know if i was going to get it day one so was a nice surprise when it showed up. I had a second preorder from eb games (my brother will take it) They are expecting that shipment in December sometime. I have seen controllers and games on shelves but nothing else.
Region Lock for videogames doesn't exist since the ps3 came out....
It sort of exists for downloads, which sucks if there is a dlc you want but u got a pal region copy of a game, you would have to create a pal account and make the purchase and everything else through that

The thing is, if Sony hadn't said stock would be limited in the first place, then scalping wouldn't even be a thing. So it's still their fault.

the ps5 is region free just like the ps4 was. i bough mine from the us and i live in the middle east and it worked just fine, the only thing you need is to replace the electricity plug.
Had ps5 in cart, went to put my credit card three digit code in but wasn't fast enough taken out of cart in seconds,I am just going to wait till stock is really available
the only reason scalping works is there is an "idiot" population willing to buy them. i don't have a ps5 yet - and i'm willing to wait years in order to buy one at retail price. if everyone would do this, scalping would end.

33:45 it's not a first person shooter. It's an RPG. The devs have been very clear about this. This is why people will be disappointed in the game no matter how good it actually is.
Assassin's Creed games to me has always been the wait-until-they-go-to-half-price kinda games. But on a whim, I purchased Valhalla, probably just to experience open world on a horse again like Ghost of Tsushima. And so far, it's been a great choice. I've totally ignored progression and just rode around with my horse discovering all of the map area and little side stories. The main feature of the game to me is the landscape, everything is a distant second.
I'm just hoping that by the end or January that these consoles are fairly easy to come across. Kinda assumed this would happen but it's still frustrating as fuck to see stores like Gamestop selling PS5's with like 80 other things that nobody fucking wants when they could just sell it for $500. Kinda hope Sony and Microsoft decide not to send Gamestop stores any more consoles since they are pretty much doing the exact same thing scalpers have been.

You know the combat is supposed to feel clunky at first right.
You level your shooting up by using guns or your melee by using melee weapons v is supposed to be a rookie at the beginning.
If that's true its incredibly risky game design. Gameplay needs to feel satisfying from the start, it shouldn't require 20 hours of effort to unlock. I'm confident I'll enjoy Cyberpunk, but I can see many people drop off early if that's the case

Just look at Kingdome come deliverance it made grinding actually rewarding and satisfying.
And practicing and training activities actually vital instead of fluff.

I get the sense in a year or two we'll see Assassin's Creed jump into the future, a Cyberpunk future

I think I am the only person in the world that doesn't like the new dualsense features. Astrobot is a fantastically cute, high quality polished game. But the constant vibrations are just jarring and uncomfortable to hold. The sound from the controller is low audio quality and jarring not immersive. The only part that was a weird magical illusions was walking against strong wind. You kind of expect sound from all directions and wind sound doesn't come across as jarringly low quality audio. So I did have an amazing feeling of walking through strong wind. But walking in the rain / hail it was just massively jarring and just sounded like I was using a hollow rattling broken controller and it was unpleasant to hold the controller. It was more like holding a wriggling fish. In no way did I feel like I was walking in the rain. I have also played Bugsnax and again the controller sounds are jarring and the adaptive triggers are not immersive and don't feel intuitive at all. Maybe a gun trigger would feel intuitive and work. But a trap trigger or slingshot don't. It feels like the controller is broken as the trigger has a crunchy sandpaper feel resistance to being used. It also forces the game to use the R2 as the main button instead of X. So the bugsnax controls don't feel as ergonomic or intuitive like other games. I will keep using the feedback and triggers to see if they are something that you get used to. But if the new features still feel totally jarring after a couple of months then I will certainly switch all the new features off, or only buy games that don't use them.

Hey I have complete respect for these guys, but its definitely getting a little old listening to people with a console say how everybody else can just wait. I think you'd be less likely to say that had you ended up in the same camp. I was lucky to snag one, but I completely sympathize with everyone who didn't.

Sure everyone can, and will have no choice but to wait, but I think the last thing anyone wants to hear is "relax you'll eventually get one next year," especially when the person telling you gets to go home and enjoy theirs. I know I’m a nerd and this is a place for nerds but anyone else feel these IGN shows and the faces of them are all a bit too serious at times? This stream/podcast/show whatever ya want to call it felt more natural after a few minutes but what I’m about to refer to is the first couple minutes and the recognizable content of IGN taking itself a bit too seriously. I know they attempted to make a joke at the beginning and I’m not trying to shit on anyone or hurt anyone’s feelings HOWEVER everyone knows these people aren’t like this in real life and can tell it is a bit forced/fake. SO I URGE IGN TO ALLOW THE PEOPLE BEING THE FACES FOR THEM TO BE THEMSELVES AND RELAX A LITTLE...I don’t dislike anyone in particular however I much prefer people on twitch or self employed gamers on RUclips over who are just being themselves MOST OF THE TIME ANYWAYS over the way too serious nature of IGN content most of the time.
