- Welcome back! We have a very special video today because "WE ARE 3" 😎
This video is a big montage of the full journey that I have taken this Transporter on. Showing all the best bits rolled into one 20 minute video for your viewing pleasure.
From a Stock Van to the bus you see today....
If you enjoyed the video don't forget to like the video and share🙌.
The last three years were a heap of fun! here's to the next 3.😊😊👍.
This is absolutely incredible I'm seriously impressed with this I'm yet to drive but when I do this is my ultimate goal to have a vw transporter modified gracefully like this I'm looking to go for a petrol version with performance modifications with a cheeky map maybe even the odd cheeky flame or two 😂 you have earned a subscription from me top job
🙏thank you for the warm comment. I hope you succeed with your vision. The Transporter scene is a huge friendly place 👌. Welcome to the channel!
To me the first set of wheels looked the best...
I would completely agree with that and I miss them 👍
Absolutely love the van...keep up the mods and videos.
🙏thank you buddy! I will ☺️👍
BIG WORK
Thanks 👍
Can't stop watching this video now, inspires me to get out and just do it ! Change of plan from my last post, was looking at a good older LWB 2.5, but like hunting for Unicorns. So a newer 2.0 140 may be the way to go, to get away from maintenance costs. Who do you get all your parts from, any specific good suppliers - heard there's a lot of Cowboys out there, selling cheap parts and doing a botch job on other services.
So on Lowering when you first got the Van, just springs or anything else to do. I suppose this was getting ready for 20" wheels - is that the best size ?
Apololgies for all the questions, but just starting out so trying to get my head around it all.
I am glad the content is inspiring 👍. That’s really great to hear. I can highly recommend you checking out @TransporterHQ for any parts as a 1st port of call. They have always exceeded expectations for me and supply quality parts. When I lowered the van in the 1st instance, with it being brand new I could rely on the shocks being ok so just installed the Ebach Pro 50mm lowering springs. The 140bhp derivative was always a popular choice so can agree it’s a good model to get👍
💪❤👍
🙌
Bro changes wheels like I change socks lol this van looks amazing
Wet wet wet my cuz topnotch u get a SALUTE cuz tops
🙏thanks
Have you considered swapping the front seats? It transforms the driving experience.
I have electric Panamera seats in my 5.1
I have! Def something I want to do moving forward!! Will check out the Panamera seats! Appreciate the recommend 👍
@@SteveField Porsche seats are lovely. Supportive and comfortable without being too buckety.
And sort of OEM+ I guess. 911,Cayman, Boxster all worth a look. 👍
@@mattclarke6773 they sound great! Will check them out 😊
Jesus some money has been spent and it looks amazing 😎🤙
🙌Thanks buddy😊

@@alexandermichael117 sorry to bust your bubble but he doesn't exist. Its been scientific proven that we evolved. Secondly dont fucking tell we what to do you wouldn't say it in person so don't try and be a keyboard warrior ok
@alexandermichael117 I love how much confidence people have over a keyboard, but the truth is your mouth wouldn't have any teeth after I put you to sleep then you could go and meet your so called jesus 🤣
Steve, your rear view mirror - is it the Auto Vox V5 Pro ? Got the same style van with no rear window, so no mirror inside, need some sort of mirror bracket to attach Auto Vox adaptor, any clues ?
Hi Steve, sorry for late reply! I have the Autovox AV1 which I think is discontinued now but the it also hooks onto a standard rear view mirror. You could pick up a standard rear view mirror on Amazon perhaps so you can fit and attach your Autovox.
@@SteveField Unfortunately that won't work, the V5 Pro replaces the actual mirror rather than attaching to it. Looks like removing factory mount and gluing Autovox mount in place ☹. Thanks anyway 👍
How much airride cost mate? Thanks
I paid £5650 for a twin compressor setup fully installed.
@@SteveField where about? Thanks
@@stefanbatorypolskikrol Had mine done at A R Tuning in Lancashire. check out this video... ruclips.net/video/pt8ldZ3z740/видео.htmlsi=2YtlCzUfy1-KVigs
Everything you add your van is excellent you have a very nice taste. Thans for sharing it (sondtrack also incredible) 😎
🙏Thank you very much!
How much did it cost you for the headlight, back light, bumper. Thank you very much
I have made some individual videos on all of these…. Check out my driveway mod playlist and in each video I put up product links which will give you all the current prices 👍
It looks great. I know it is a van, but man, it sure is very nicely done, and it has a very pleasant design, no weird shapes. You do well.
🙏thanks very much buddy
А вы точно, радиус поворота не уменьшили? Передние колеса за крылья не цепляют?
No the offset on the Navis wheels with the 255 tyres are good full lock👍
Salut my friend super car super video subscribe subscribe..
🙏
Hi great van by the way... how much did the springs lower the van please...
🙏thank you. The springs lowered it by 50mm from standard ride height
Don't know what made me watch this, I really enjoyed your journey building this van. Really nice tasteful transformation and not over the top👌🏾
I hope people appreciate how much work goes into making these videos. Hats off mate.
Question: do you regret not adding more options to the new van, ie LED headlights, sidebars and so on, all the things that could have been factory fitted? Or was it a case of fitting new extras as cashflow allowed it?
Keep up the good work.
Thanks very much 👍😎. I do regret not holding on for the factory LED headlights for definite! This option really should be standard as the performance of the standard unit it so poor. I have overcome this in the main with the Transporter HQ lights but the main beam side of them are still halogen for legal reasons so it’s still not going to make up for the factory LEDs. No other regrets at all as I have enjoyed the process of upgrading. The only reason I didn’t have the headlight option was that when I ordered my T6 they had match to my full list of requests with the exception of the headlights and it was due 4 months earlier than a fresh order. As I didn’t know the headlights were so poor I went for it but as I say I would definitely have waited and had the headlights now.
'Another great vid' Steve. Following your project played a large part in my decision to get my own Shuttle. While it will be a long time before I can do any of the mods I'd like, I have plenty of ideas thanks to your channel. Also, as a slight aside, did you ever consider installing a dual exhaust and using the other outlet for a diesel heater? I'm not sure how feasible that would be.
🙏thank you buddy as always. It’s really nice to hear my videos play a part in some of the things you want to do😎. I Have considered a mod where I’ve seen a rear bumper with a custom design rear exhaust (it may be fake) it’s not cheep but it’s subtle and looks tasteful but I’ve never sat down and properly taken a better look yet… come from only one place that I’ve seen called customvanz. Regarding diesel heater. I would love one! One thing holds me back. When we sleep in the awning we would not be able to use the heater as the exhaust fumes would end up in the tent😬. Sometimes when we put kids into bed we sit in the back of the van and that’s we’re it would be useful but we’ve relied on an electric heater for this reason.
Love what you have done looks amazing. Do u a list of where you got the products from??
This channel is class, I’ve learned so much off you Steve, very informative! Keep the videos coming dude 🤙🏻
🙏Thank you buddy👍. I’m glad it’s been helpful and plenty of good stuff out soon 👌😎
Can I ask where the whiskey extinguisher is from please ?m
Sure. I purchased it from dirty Weekender adventure vans. Google it and they should be on their shop website 👍
@@SteveField beauty thanks
Just getting into VW campers and yours is absolutely stunning 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
🙏. Thank you. Glad to hear your getting in👍
Steve, got a link to what your VW started out as? RAC are selling off their vans from 2016 to 2018. T32 150 DSG but mileages are from 113k to 140k all tailgate. £14k to £17k plus Vat
Hi Scott, I do infact....take a look at this video and you will see where my journey began... ruclips.net/video/EMFyzBN725U/видео.html then check out this link for the detailed backstory 😁👍www.onlyrevo.com/blog/project-6-building-my-ultimate-vw-transporter-t6/
This van is the normal long size??
Yes. It’s a standard long wheel base. Looks longer due to the lowered suspension
Please don't sell it ever 🙌🙌🙌
👍👍 I wont 😎
I know. You are single 😂
🤣
What did you drop her by Steve?
Originally it was a 50mm drop but then later Airride was installed 👍
What' s your thoughts/opinion on the DSG gearbox rather than manual. Been advised that theyr'e a moneypit if they go wrong, as I'd be buying an older van trying to get as much info as possible
Hi Steve. Well I have to say I am very impressed with the DSG and I couldn’t imagine not having it now. Very clever drive chains management, but I can also imagine it would be extremely expensive to repair/replace. I have to say I don’t know anybody that has had trouble with one though!! I would have it again 👍👍
Another great vid Steve love all the mods you’ve done over the last three years the best one for me though has to be the air ride I want it so much on mine don’t think I will be happy until I get it keep up the good work hope to see your van up close at busfest 👍
🙏thanks buddy☺️. Yes! the Airride had been one of the biggest game changers! The drive is very good for a low van. 👍. I the Van will be outside the gates but it’ll be there 😎. Hopefully see you there 👍
Steve, great video. I’ve got 20’ wheels on my Van Haven T6.1. What pressure are you running your 20’ tyres at? Thanks.
🙌Thabks Rob, I am running 45psi on my summer tyres. On the side wall of your tyre it will tell you the max psi it’s rated too just check 46 is not to high 1st as mine are rated to 52👍
Great video Steve, as you know I’ve followed your journey all the way through and have been doing my own mods as you’ve seen. Fairly similar vans. Hopefully see you on the weekend.
Regards Steve Mc
🙏thanks Steve ☺️.
thank you for the continued support and your van looks awesome well done on it👍. Hopefully see you at Busfest🤙
Wow this is such an amazing inspirational video and so well shot, I only discovered your channel recently but I am hooked I love how much you love your van :) we recently got a 2019 T6 California Ocean in Acapulco blue and it is by far the nicest vehicle I have ever driven.
A couple of questions ours has the original wheels on just like yours had, if I changed them to the Navis silver wheels would this affect the ride comfort of the van on its original wheels as I like how it drives now and would not like a really hard ride so any advice would be much appreciated, I assume the headlights and tail lights are from TP HQ?
So do I change the wheels and lights, sadly I am not as good with fitting this stuff as you obviously are so I would ask TP HQ to do it for me, I do fancy the front bumper and the grill with the stripe in as well. Damn this could be expensive, I love the air suspension but no doubt the cost would horrify me :) also would a remap improve fuel consumption as I get an average of 34.5 to the gallon.
Thanks
Andy
Hi Andy, Thank you and apologies for the very late reply! I had missed the comment. I would say that in my opinion the ride on the 20” wheels did not get any firmer than in was but it’s a very mixed bag on that when I read feedback on forums. I can def say it did not ruin the drive one bit. And it transforms the look.
Transporter HQ for all of my lights and bulbs up to this video…. I have since added the new Travelin lite rear 6.1 lights now and so far very pleased with them. (You may have seen in a recent video).
Can you support visitors show me on site ideas and do something very simple for you for me
More videos to come👍
Hi Steve, im new to the van life looking to get a van/camper what do you suggest?
i like what you have done sweet!!!
Hi I would have to suggest a transporter and if your going to convert to camper I would recommend a LWB so you have to most room but still fit a parking space👍
Awesome job mate, given me some great ideas. Why do the rear windows instead of buying a Caravelle ? Think someone has a serious wheel fetish though, you need some therapy !
I think you rite 😂. Will look into some therapy🤣. I didn’t go for the caravelle for few camping design reasons but now some of those reasons would not have been an issue in the end.
Awesome work that’s a dream van errm are any those wheels for sale 😬seriously. Couldn’t have picked better wheels to be honest throughout the journey mines is off for coilovers next week I hope it seriously improves the drive of my van
Hi Kevin, sorry I totally missed this comment. Thanks👍. I do still have the Vossen CV10’s which I am going to put up for sale soon. Hope the coil overs improve your ride👍
Love the videos Steve - any advice on suspension improvement for ride & handling & reduced body roll on my new T6.1 with Campervan conversion please - been looking at coilovers from THQ who appear to have good knowledge expertise? Thx
🙏thanks David. I have to say transporter HQ is a one stop shop for all your suspension needs. They have worked on a high volume of vans and offer products for the extra weight from conversions too.👌.
Hi Steve, another cool video! When did you swap the runningboards from chrome to black. Thought they were always black.
Stay safe!
🙏 Thanks buddy ☺️. Ahhh no way back at the start I was feeling the chrome but as time when I came up with the look for winter mode I put some black on and now I leave the bars as prefer black. I still have the chrome ones in storage 😂. Thanks again dude 👍
When you got your front and rear spoilers, did they come painted from the retailer or did you have to go to a bodyshop. Asking as it seems there's a lot that come primed but few painted.
Hi Steve, I had the front spoiler painted by the VW body shop and the rear spoiler was supplied and painted by Leighton Vans so both were ready to be fitted but they would ordinarily be supplied in primer.
Hi Steve, Thank you for sharing this. I have become a fan of your van through these videos. I am curious about something please. Was the van modified to fit the air ride suspension, apart from looking smoking hott, were there comfort/ride benefits to the installation? I cant wait to get myself a Transporter now and get busy building. LOVE that colour as well.
Hi Hegan, Really sorry I missed your comment and this reply is so late!!! however I do appreciate your kind feedback and can say the van did not need to be further modified to accept the stock arride system... it massively improves the drive when you are daily driving a 60 -80 mm drop from stock. nothing else compares and then you can still raise up and arrive at the unexpected locations with the front bumper in tact 💪😎
All wheels can buy some new car. But i loved 1st Vossen CVT.
I too am really fond of the CVT's really looked good on the van👌👌
The van is class..Best of luck with it. I'd say it cost a few bob with all the upgrades .
🙌thanks buddy
Where I can buy new facelift like this
Not been with you for three years mate but really do love the channel. Keep it up. And who the hell would tick the thumbs down???? Berk whoever they are.
🙏thanks Kieran. ☺️. Really appreciate that. Will keep them coming.
Great video Steve, I watched every video in the run up to my transporter being delivered last September, to give me some ideas of the mods I wanted to carry out.
🙏thanks Kevin. Thanks for watching and hope you doing well with yours👍
I assume all your aftermarket wheels are 20", so how wide are they and what size tyres you running. Trying to figure out the wheel, tyre and suspension conundrum at the moment so I can get parts sorted
Hi Steve, Yes all are 20" I am running 20 x 9J wheels on 255 / 35 /20 tyres all of my wheels are now this set up but the black wheels I have are a slightly different offset to the new Navis wheels. I do have more in depth videos about both sets and the tyres on my channel if they are any help?
@@SteveField thanks
Which fridge have you got in the van ?
I have the Dometic CFX 28. And it’s excellent for us👍
@@SteveField thanks, nice bit of kit, quite expensive 😮. What made you go for that particular brand, are they better than others ?
@@stevecockton6624 Its is very expensive I have to say... BUT here is why I don't regret my choice 3 years later. it reaches temp from ambient very quick, it uses very little power when its running in general and the thing that really impresses me the most, when my van wan in that 40degree heat we saw (lord knows how hot it was inside after coming back to it) the temp on the readout was still at 3 Degrees. any other 12V fridge i know of cannot cope with this scenario. they use these in the Aussie 4x4 in the outback so its also happy to get thrown about. as you can tell I'm pretty pleased with mine lol 👍😂
@@SteveField that's a proper reply mate, full comprehensive answer. Thanks for taking the time to explain. 👊. Time to do some more research.
That’s a beautifully made video. Nice car too
Thankyou very much!

Have you done a vid on the Auto Vox rear view Mirror/ dash cam installation ? Is it a good bit of kit ?

@@SteveField Steve - I too have the v2 headlights fitted...Is it possible to have the DRL’s go off when the sequential indicators come on and come back on when indicators go off?.... If so - do you know how?....Thanks. Steve
@@steve61098 Hi Steve, Yes it is! you can do it using the Carista, I actually did it to mine for a while until I fitted the lower DRLS so I know it can be done. If you pick up a Carista there are plenty of options you can tailor without any issues or errors
@@SteveField cheers Steve 👍
Trouble is even after all that…..it’s still just an overpriced van. A nice van but still a van , who wants to daily a van 🤷🏻♂️

Hi Steve, what tyre brand and size do you have on the Navis?
I know the size but on this rim (as I have had a few) not sure the brand but will check. Size is 255/35/20 and they are rated 102Y
@@SteveField thanks Steve, I just found your reply on the Navis video. I'm getting a 2011 multivan /caravelle soon and really like the Navis however I'm only going to drop 40-50mm on H&R springs and not sure what tyre size to go with. Was looking for possibly 265 40 20. Or 255. Wanted 40 for the extra comfort as a lot of people say 35 is a bit too harsh.
You can run a good deal of tyres on 40-50 mm drop👍. I have in this video….ruclips.net/video/87phWRN3AOI/видео.html 275/35/20 and the van is lowered by 50mm in the video so you’ll see that you could even get a 275/40/20 on without any bother. But essentially you will have more comfort if you get a 40mm profile👍

Great video Steve lovely looking van can you tell me what off set the vosson wheels are and what tyres you had on them as I have heard some places put a larger tyre as they get them cheaper 🤣 cheers mate 🤙🏻
🙏Thanks buddy☺️. The offset is ET35 on the Vossens. The CVT ones near the beginning are staggered so ET42 on rear with a 10.5j tyres 275/35/20 all round. The Vossens post Airride were 9j all round Et35 on 255/35/20 tyres for the tuck👍
