Thanks for this! For some reason I have been stressing out about cutting and propagating my B.oldhamii. This was a really good technique. I will be trying it this weekend. 😃
In process of creating visual screen. Bought clumping bamboo yesterday and plan to use your method to turn it into many more today. I was planting too shallow before. Not sure how much to water. Great video. No nonsense or cutesy stuff, just straight info. Thank you.
Nice do love a screen of bamboo makes, such a lovely noise. My best success was from root cuttings almost 100% whereas the success rate on the node cuttings, was vary variable dependent on type. I trimmed off the bottom 1/4 of potbound roots , spread those out into LG old seed tray covered with compost and watered great results! Will film it so you can see 🌱🌱🌱
Pleasure and let me know how you get on. Worked way better on clumping bamboos. For running bamboos I had great success trimming the bottom 1/4 of roots, from the bottom of pots and spreading roots out in Xl seed tray cover with compost 🙌 the potted boo is also thankful of the space with new fresh compost on the bottom of the old pot
Excellent! I recently chopped up loads of new bamboos in the nursery but be aware apart from splitting boos, which is ok in Oct Nov. The best time to propagate is in spring as growing resumes
There's, an update in the last video, but long short best results, was from root cuttings. The cane cuts I'd not put the effort in again on running bamboo. But better results on clumpers
Correct, for running best results from root cuttings, clumping not to bad on node cuttings but also good on root cuttings..... For root cuttings lift a potted bamboo and use secateurs to cut of 1/3of the roots. Repot the bamboo in a bigger pot with fresh soil. Then spread out the roots in a, flat large seed tray, cover with an inch of soil and keep moist. Once shoots, emerge cut 2 shoots of root and pot those on. Recover the remaining roots in the tray as more will come! Also for runners in the ground you can pull roots and use the same method.
Thanks, and it's the same for us, especially seeing some of the trees really take on form. But other things like how the strawberry have spread....always so much to learn and nice to share it 🍓🍓🍓 Hows your garden!??
@@TheWildlandsGarden Still pretty cold here in London & my lettuce that I put out in the warm spell have now gone caput but the pak choy & broccoli have hardened up unexpectedly well. Loving seeing my raspberries & strawberries spread as well & have just taken some sprouts off my red currents to propagate. Love it. Unfortunayely, I'm looking at having to abandon my garden & all the trees I have brought on as I will be moving countries soon. However I have the pleasure of starting a new garden ahead of me
We might have lost our Tom's, and chillies, they're alive but look v sad 😭🌶️🍅 Whereabouts in London are you as I lived in Camden for 10 years.... And where are you moving to?
@@TheWildlandsGarden I spent a year in Camden but have been in Kennington Oval for the last 13 years. I was considering Portugal but life has taken a 180 & I am moving to NZ which was not on my original shortlist! Time to get out of the cities
There's, an update in the video 'success and failure in our garden'. But long story short. Clumping bamboos OK to poor results on nodal cuttings, running bamboo less, success. But root cuttings of all bamboo tried superb results. Will do a full video on this 👌☀️

Glad it was helpful! And just filmed a bamboo root cutting video, be up soon 👌🙏
Thank you. You have a great video. The best so far.
Thanks 🌱 just filmed how, to take bamboo root cuttings, And how to save pot bound bamboo

Great. Very interested in this. Will givd it a go with some of the bamboo we have in our garden
Great, you'll have to let me know how you get on. My first pot of nodal cut cane has just started sprouting I'm so happy!?? ☺️
Thank you for sharing. I will give it a go.

Hi. Thanks for sharing. Is there an update for this? How did the water propagation method work in comparison to the soil method?
On running bamboo it was poor and the best method was from root cuttings. Had awesome results there! Will have to show you on a video
@@TheWildlandsGarden thank you for the response. Appreciated
@@TheWildlandsGardenyou cannot propagate running bamboo from cane cuttings, it isn’t possible so that is likely why it didn’t work
Cheers Bud
Pleasure and have you been propagating?

@@TheWildlandsGarden at the end of Spring here Down Under Bud, I may have left it too late
I'd think your still OK, judge by the size of new culms. Certainly still good for root cuttings
Any updates on the growth of these cabe cuts?
