- The Aiki Dojo 2 Minute Technique - One Exercise to Improve Your Rolling
David Ito Sensei, Aikido 5th Dan, demonstrates the basics of Gokyo (五教) - the 5th control hold in Aikido. Gokyo is one of those techniques that is not really a technique. It is more of a pin than an entire movement. Gokyo is an antique technique that was previously only used as a weapons takeaway. Gokyo is also usually done from tenkan or ura and from an overhead knife stab but is now applied to other attacks and can be done from irimi or omote.
