You should be using Hyper-V if you're on Windows. It's a kernel level Hypervisor included in Windows. And if you're on Linux, you should be using KVM or Virtual Box (specifically the Linux version) as they are both kernel level Hypervisors for Linux.

Ive been using VMWare since I started cybersecurity, switching to something else would be a bit painful
