Ginsberg's metaphor of "filling the pen" 26:40 is the poet putting ink into his fountain pen just as a gunslinger reloads his iron rod. Days of the ink pen and Naomi poems around 1960 or so. But the metaphor, as Arthur Rimbaud might pipe up, is also the poet rejuvenating himself after having plumbed the depths of night and day, mother and father, deranged the six senses, the all-seeing Eye of Providence, searched holy himself, and exhausted all poisons and kept only the quintessences.
What I like about Ginsberg is how philosophically tolerant and diverse he is. He can love a Hemingway, Kerouac and a Jim Morrison as much as he might like the more politically correct writers. He wasn't a woke cultist.
I think this is the best Allen Ginsberg clip on RUclips right now. Thanks for uploading!
