- On a sunny Sunday in the heart of Cronulla, the world's best bodyboarders gathered to take on the notorious Shark Island. A challenge it was, with 10-12 foot sets washing through and riders relying on knowledge, gut instinct and pure survival mindset to make it through the heats and into the semis and final.
Ultimately, that local knowledge paid off with Andrew Lester - on one arm after a particularly spicy wave in the semis - and fellow local Ben Sawyer making the final a two-horse race. With the title safely back into local hands, all that was left to do was get to Kurnell Rec Club for the announcement of the 2024 Shark Island Challenge champion.
Now lets do the west coast, Box challenge! 🔥

I had an 8tx, bought it in 1995. Such a cool board. In 2020 a guy bought it from me for more than I paid for it 😊

I had three of them a blue one a red one and a purple bullet 8tx..fast as but they crease when landing big airs. Was in Forster NSW in 99. Checking blueies at dawn. Saw a guy on a lid out by himself take off disappear for five seconds and get spat out. Sped out there and the guy was bullet and I was on a bullet 8 tx. CLASSIC. Double axe handle HOBART

Understand the reasoning for the call, it wasn't ideal conditions, but it was solid and there was a decent turnout.

South swell was never going to be much different to what they held it in
And Sunday meant more spectators and better return for sponsors
Nice 4 to 6 feet max. If thats "8 foot and building" then I actually am 12 foot tall. Pretty average for typical SI contests

Why did they even hold it on a Straight south swell??!?! NE or SE/ESE Is the way to go, come on SIC! Hopefully, shark lives up to the hype next time and they hold a longer waiting period.

Most of the local cronulla riders shouldn't of been in the comp there is plenty of better riders in Australia to throw in, That was a perfect example of it's not what you know its who you know .
