शब्द नहीं हैं इस कहानी और उसके फिल्मांकन के बारे में कुछ कहने के लिए. इतना मार्मिक, मीठी, हृदयस्पर्शी, स्वर्णिम यथार्थ की अभिव्यक्ति लिए यह प्रस्तुति है! अभिनय में सुनील दत्तजी, नुतानजी, शाशिकलाजी, तो लाजवाब हैं ही, बांकी सभी कलाकारों भी कोई कम नहीं रहे. जिसने भी कहानी लिखी है और उसके संवाद बनाए हैं उन्हें मेरा कोटि कोटि नमन! फिल्म में गीत भी बहुत सुन्दर ढंग से कहानी में सजाई गयी हैं. कोई भी गीत ऐसा नहीं की ज़बरदस्ती डाला गया हो जैसा की बहुत सारे फिल्मों में मनोरंजन के नाम पर जोड़ा जाता है. सामाजिक कुरीतियों पर अघात करता यह बेहतरीन फिल्म है.

My life is also like sujata. This movie touches my heart, it makes me so emotional. My parents also treat me like I m not their own daughter. Always partial with me, give more and more to my sister and very less to me. I always follow their order, do whatever they want, praise them like God but they think I m burden on them.

@@r.22rby God, exactly my thoughts! Like wtf man, why keep and raise a child when you have to be so partial to her all her life, its pure cruelty! The only point one can make is that they at least provided her a physically safe environment, she may have landed in wrong hands as a kid and worst could have happened, but in parenting there is no middle path, either you love a child whole heartedly or you just do not take the responsibility! I hated the parents all throughout the movie.

बिमल रॉय की फिल्में लाजवाब और मीनिंगफुल होती है यह भी उसमे से एक है।वैसे तो इस फिल्म के सभी कलाकारों का रोले बेहतरीन है लेकिन सुलोचना जी का रोले मुझे ज्यादा प्रभावित किया ,अपने समय में कितनी सुंदर थी ,हमेशा बूढ़ी मा का रोल करते देखा है।कहानी संवाद सभी कुछ बेहतरीन है।

This is the 4th movie of Bimal da which I have seen after "Bandini", "Do bigha zameen" and "Naukri". Hatts off to Bimal da for creating such a beautiful masterpiece.... Every society need organisation. Caste system is only one way of organising a society but it is not the only way. The original system was the Varna system which was wrongly translated into caste system by the britishers , who colonised india. The varna system was based on division of labour & natural aptitude & was reasonably flexible.
It should be noted that India was colonised & enslaved for nearly 1000 years (800 years under islamists & 200 years under british) this flexible system got fossilized & rigid with airtight compartments , where skills dont flow freely . India lost its famed creativity & which gave her prosperity & power. The caste system which evolved only served to keep the hindus divided & enslaved for 1000 years. Time to evolve once again in the 21st century. systems dont die , they simply restructure & evolve into new forms.

Those were the days which make us what we are today. My father was also an engineer working in river Valley projects, used to dress like this and had similar attitudes to our social problems. This is not any ordinary movie. It is almost a documentary of postindependence India.
