I would love an Undaunted Pacific Theater (Marines vs Japanese) but no naval stuff. Unless of course you do both as SEPARATE boxes. That way I can choose.
Glad someone is enjoying it as much as me, I particularly love how the need to get the initiative (because you have restricted firing lines and everything is moving) pulls horribly against your need for those cards for repositioning through Guide or using Inspire to get a huge move. The pressure during that initiative decision has never felt more intense than in this iteration of Undaunted.
Great review! My friend and I are old grognards and have struggled with the turn OR shoot rule. After four games, we still get it wrong, I think because it's counterintuitive to us...but we will overcome and are eager to get it right!
Definitely getting this! Fighters of the Pacific, Undaunted BAttle of Britain, and Fighters of Europe next year. It's a great time to get these types of games!
Played it at UKGE and loved it. I had pre-ordered the game and it arrived this week. I hope more is to come for air combat. Pacific with aircraft carriers maybe.
Excited for this game, I love the Undaunted series. Another thought for this system, Coastal Forces/PT boats could work well though Pacific Carriers would be fun
Big fan of Undaunted here too, the series has moved into the realm of "auto-buy" when a new title comes out. Oh no you didn't! Undaunted Pacific Carrier Battles!!?? You know there's more coming on this series, we'll see if Dave & Trevor take you up on your suggestion! How about this for the title: Undaunted Dauntless Carrier Battles!? Eh? See what I did there!? Whatever comes next though, I'm on board!
I'm a PTO WWII guy. An Undaunted kind of game is a dream for me. But as you can imagine it is difficult. The problem with PTO is the hide and seek carrier/navel battles. It would require some type of hidden movement system. Something like Worthington's Bismarck or Atlantic Chase to see if combat is initiated. But if anyone can figure it out it would be Thompson and Benjamin. Make me want to dig out the old Apple II and play some SSI/SSG wargames.
That could definitely be interesting. Would maybe need some "hidden movement" for the submarines, but without overcomplicating the rules (undaunted's strength is arguably its simple core). Difficult but maybe not impossible.
Undaunted: WWI, Undaunted: Vietnam war, Undaunted: Korean war, Undaunted: US Civil War, heck Undaunted: US Revolutionary war, Undaunted: Franco-Prussian War are all good ideas
Hello Cody! What do you think about the "Fighters of Pacific" (or Europe) systems? I'm confused with Undaunted Britain because I'm actually playing FOTPacific with friends (plus Midway & Coral Sea expansions) and most of my friends also pre-ordered Fighters of Europe! So Undaunted Britain is another one arriving at the same time in the same theme! WOW ... Do we have to get both? Are they both great? My banker is gonna kill me if so!
They have the same theme, but they really are different games. Play is very different, IMHO. BoB uses cards and dice, while FOTP is all about maneuvering. Both great systems.
I’d be interested in another attempt at a legacy style campaign like Stalingrad, for eastern front Partisans (Soviet, Jewish, Polish, etc) or Yugoslavia.
@@TheDiscriminatingGamer Active user choice seems like it would have more impact there, and it would make more sense why you're fighting in the same area for an extended period of time.
@@TheDiscriminatingGamer If they'll consider more aspect of flying in the eventual next Pacific release I'll surely buy it, like speed, height, manouvers, stalls etc... I'm just curious of board ww2 games. Thanks for doing the video and answering me :)
A shocking, surprising, controversial conclusion for regular viewers of this channel 😂 ... However this here is a spoiler-free comment. Great thing about your end joke ... It can be "...tail you" or "...tell you", it works both ways :D
I would have loved to see fuel be a feature in this game. Some sort of fuel resource being spent as you fly. That would add a bit of a timer to the game too. Good idea? Also, is there a problem with a plane just sitting idly in the air if the player doesn’t have a card to move it? I feel like planes that don’t move in a round should be removed from play. Thoughts?
I think the fuel idea is interesting, but I’m not too keen on the removing a plane because there isn’t a card. I don’t see how it works thematically, or why you would want to do it mechanically. My two cents.
This game looks really cool. I like games where you build the game board. The components also look nice. Would you say the undaunted system is a card based game system? It looks like it to me. You didn't like the Guadelcanal Solitaire so much. How about an Undaunted Guadelcanal game incorporating air, land, and sea operations. Such a game would have to incorporate carrier operations I would think. Long live the U.S.S. Enterprise.
So glad you dig the game! Thank you!
Thank you, sir, for another great game!!!
Undaunted: Pacific
Carrier Battles!!
Yes. Carrier Battles. Yes.

Great minds think alike! I was thinking, Undaunted Pacific Naval Battles would be amazing.
Right!
One of the best things I've ever heard, Undaunted Pacific Carrier battles!
Right?
If you had to pick one, would you recommend Undaunted: Battle of Britain, or Fighters of Europe, and why?
Undaunted. I like the deck building.

Can't wait for the french adaptation!
Hopefully it will be along soon.
How many scenarios in the book?
Eleven.
Great system. Any truth to the rumour - Undaunted Battle of the Atlantic? I'd buy it.
I haven't heard that one. Sounds like it could be fun.
That could definitely be interesting. Would maybe need some "hidden movement" for the submarines, but without overcomplicating the rules (undaunted's strength is arguably its simple core). Difficult but maybe not impossible.

@@TheDiscriminatingGamer Ha! I thought the exact same thing which completely nullifies your great minds theory.
ANYTHING + Pacific Carrier Battles!
You’re not wrong.
Dr. Cody, would you rather play Undaunted: Battle of Britain or Fighters of Europe?
I haven’t played FOE, FOTP is outstanding. Still, gun to my head, I’d prolly got with Undaunted.
@@TheDiscriminatingGamer Thanks for your reply, Dr. Cody!
Pacific Carrier battles sounds good. How about Undaunted Armor?
They have tanks with Reinforcements and North Africa.
If you have Wings of Glory, is this different enough to have both in your collection?
Oh yes. Very different games mechanically.
Undaunted: WWI, Undaunted: Vietnam war, Undaunted: Korean war, Undaunted: US Civil War, heck Undaunted: US Revolutionary war, Undaunted: Franco-Prussian War are all good ideas

The system lends itself to ALMOST anything. Vietnam LRRP action would be fun. A GOOD WWII naval game is due and deserving though.
How about starting simple by making Undaunted Reinforcements approachable again..? 😕
