I have seen the Veritas honing jigs for sale on UK online stores but I have never used one (nor even considered buying one) and I never thought that they would have the edge camber built in; that's a nice touch for when irons go out of square (as they often do) and you want to get it back on track quickly. This is exactly why, even at my age, I still watch these videos to keep up to date with new stuff that comes along. It is thanks to people like yourself that makes it all possible. I learned from this video; I can honestly say that a younger person taught me something today.

@@AussieWoodshed I always watch your videos because you are younger and ahead of me. I watch other established workers and enjoy them but learn less because I've been through the same past as them.

Maybe you’ve explained somewhere that I’ve missed before or maybe you’re a hybrid shop and I’ve missed all of that, but why don’t you use cambers on even your Jack or Try Planes? I can understand fully not doing so on say, your jointer. Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks for your question. I am a mainly hand-tool workshop, but i do use and tormek grinder and battery drill and if i had the space i would use a band-saw also.
I don't use cambers on any plane blade other than my 1 rough removal converted 'scrub' plane which has a heavy camber.
In the video there i was referring to not using camber for normal sharpening and rolling the corners of the blade instead. I might not have made that clear enough so i might revisit this topic and make a new video.
I do this so i don't need to sharpen a camber into the blade every time, as i don't use micro bevel either as they don't speed up the sharpening process for me once the primary bevel is set. I also dislike the idea of regrinding the bevel unless i chip the blade.
Hope this clears it up for you, if you have any more questions please ask.
