Thank you brother…. Have 2-yr old Richmond. Found your video after cleaned off coupler and assembled. Sensor was definitely the issue. Out of all the videos I watched. You sir are the only one I found relating to this issue. Thank you, Thank you , Thank you✌️
Would you mind share your experience? How did you really do it? I have the same problem. I am afraid that I would destroy anything other than fix it. Thank you very much.
HI,I have the same problem. I checked it, I still don't know how to really do it. Would you mind explaining the details? I tried to take the sensor out, just a little bit. I didn't take the whole thing out. I wonder if I destroy anything. If you can make a video about this whole process, how to really take the sensor out, how to put a screw there,,,that would be so helpful. Thank you very much.
Wrong. The thermocouple in conjunction with the valve does this. The sensor is just the middle man when the sensor no longer works and can’t complete the circuit the valve will still have to have to input from the thermocouple thus why it still works and is absolutely safe just a fault on Richmond/ rheem
You light by turning the knob to pilot then hold down yellow knob and use the spark clicker. Keep holding down yellow button for 10-15 seconds then pilot should be lit. Verify through access window then turn valve to desired temp settinh
I am not a plumber by no means. If you can’t understand Lehmans terms and do a tiny bit of research then you probably shouldn’t be messing with your own water heater. The video is pretty self explanatory and simple. Let’s see if you can figure out what the hell im talking about now you numb scull.
Thank you brother….

That sensor is there to read. The pilot light is actually on before it turns to gas on and fills your house up with gas.

How to light Richmond hot water heater 1:16
Can you tell me the manufacturer date on the sticker?
But how do you actually light it?

@@johnlee6439 thank you. Maybe someone else will read your comment but I already took care of it.
Didn't explain what the hell he was even talking about. I guess plumbers get it. Does NOTHING for homeowner DIY people.

Plumber here. Rheem/Richmond is junk. Better off with an A.O. Smith or even better, BradfordWhite.
Do u replace it?
You can replace the whole valve assembly just to have the same problem I recommend what I have done completely safe and free.
