A little tip I’d add to this; pin the bottom layer of fringe and then try the skirt on to ensure the final length falls in the most flattering part of the leg. If you’re not happy with the length, unpin, move the fringe layer up or down to ensure you’re happy before you start gluing or stitching.
That thought did occur to me, too. I'm only 5'4" and while I have a long inseam and a short body, it's something I have to consider with anything that exposes leg. It can be very deceiving.
This is just superb, I've been looking for "gold flapper dress costume" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Panadarson Flapper Falbala - (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? Ive heard some awesome things about it and my friend got excellent results with it.
When I create fringe work, rather than double layering it, I just offset it by the width of the top ribbon. It still appears full and weighted but without the bulk of a double layer of ribbon. It also adds dimension to the fringe by by varying the length by 1/2 inch.
Neighbor's sayin': "There goes that strange woman struttin' around her front yard like she's at Fashion Wee k 2019! "👍👍👍😆😆😆👏👏👏 Love 💘the skirt, thanks!👍👌
Omg that skrit is to die for. My mom was an amazing seamstress and made all my older sisters clothes. My sis would show my mom a picture of a dress out of like 17 magazine and my mom would make it from the pic. When I came along (20 years later) it was no long cool to have home made clothes (the only thing worse was thrifted clothes or God forbid Kmart clothes). So I never really got into sewing in fact I kind of hate it. I know how to sew but yuck. All that to say, thank you so much for all the work you do to make these out fits achievable for us reluctant seamstresses. Wait .....this just in seamstresses is so passe. The PC title is now Sewist. Thank God I have teenagers to keep me current. Anyway thank you for the no sews and the just a little bit sews. Fridays are my favorite days because of you. I have made; Wrap pants, bathing suit cover up, the sexy glitter shoes A couple of your purses and I'm working on the belts. The fringe skirt is most definitely next. Thanks Orly
Thanks DIYD for "taking us along" on the skirt "shopping". Sharing the experience of failed options and eventually finding the perfect one was most encouraging! And that front yard rooster strut is totally the way to go! Twirl it baby!
OMGOSH WOW that skirt is absolutely stunning, you must get hundreds of people stopping you to ask where you bought it from. I can only imagine the satisfaction of saying “I made it” xxxx
Oh my gosh, Orly! This skirt is amazing! And you always make everything look so easily. Like, I don't know if I'll ever make it, but I after watching, I feel like I totally could. THANK YOU!!
OMG, that skirt is gorgeous! It looks SO expensive! Love it, love it, love it. You rock, Orly, you are fabulous. Thank you and hope you have a great weekend!
I ONE HUNDRED PERCENT need to make this to wear on a Monday for no damn reason! ❤ I just found your channel the other day, and I'm obsessed! Wonderful projects!
Love that u used a thrift skirt & u succeeded in making it look upscale expensive! Great job! I 2 am self taught in sewing & crafting so I know how difficult it can be. U should b very proud of ur accomplishments! 💜
Binged your channel 2 weeks ago and have been watching ever since. I finally subscribed! Unlike most people your DIYs actually seemed doable. They get me excited to try to learn to sew.
This was the first time I had seen a video by you. Probably because I've been dragged down into the RUclips sewing rabbit hole. I'm glad I found you, you're incredibly talented. I have a feeling that I'm going to probably sit down soon and have a marathon of your videos.
Hi.. I'm a first time on your channel, I'm 59 yrs young and I love all your tutorials, your so very inspirational to me. your amazing and very talented.. I'm definitely going to try this skirt love it. Thanks your awesome.
I think you've done an amazing job.Good fashion schools are expensive and I think nowadays it's hard to make money from your passions, not always works. But seeing how your eyes shine and how passionate you are,it's really inspiring.Keep shining!
🌸 wow I wanna make black one, I just learnt salsa 💃🏻 and I can’t wait to fake I know how to move my non existent hips lol 😂 This dress would distract from my cliffhanger aka the missing butt I may have to use extra fabric to fake actual curves, cuz I’m bit boyish but I will see 😁
Love your channel:) I recently discovered it and have been watching all your previous videos everyday! Good going.. you are simply gorgeous and funny af!! 😘😘
This is my kind of skirt that I would wear. Orly, I found you just recently and I just subscribed to your Chanel, like a week or so ago. Well actually, I saw one of your videos a year ago on T-shirt tie dye and didn't realize you were the same person that I had been watching these past few weeks. I am very fascinated in all you do. In fact, I just made my first T-Shirt peplum today. I am so excited to continue watching all your upcoming and past videos. I am so happy and grateful I found you.
I am doing 52 creative projects in 2021 and this and 3 of your other videos just made the list, thanks so much or sharing this great stuff with the world!
I’m a new subscriber I fell in love with how easy it look and how pretty, been a mom with 2 beautiful young daughters is a great help having your channel around.
How lucky for me that I found you! I had this vision of making a a fringed skirt. Wow! Cant believe you solved my problem. Thank you for sharing your know how.
I'm new to your channel, finished watching your blanket scarf looks and went straight to see the now sew fringe skirt. Something I would have worn when I was younger, I'm 68, not for dancing but for Christmas or special holidays with family and friends. Going to try and find your other videos. Keep up the good work. God bless.
My first time watching you. This is how I've learned how to sew, watching videos like yours. I must say you make it look so easy. Thank you. I've always wanted one of these skirts. When I make mine using your method ill post a picture.
I have a party this weekend and procrastinated too long and now even Amazon can't get my 20s dress to me in time, this tutorial just saved my weekend and will probably look classier than any cheap costume dress I could find there. Thanks so much looks sooooo cute!
I am happy to report that I just ordered 20 yards of dark green fringe!!!! I have watched and showed this video so many times that I finally just ordered the damn fringe :D. I dance salsa so this is perfect
Love the double layer!!! IT'S PERFECT. I've been wanting something like this for ages but could only afford fast fashion versions that looked really lame just like you said!
I think I am obsessed. I have watched like 6 videos. I just subscribed. Can't wait to try this one, tinsel skirt and the denim skirt hack. I have tons of jeans that i have that I don't wear because I don't wear pant anymore and now I will be able to do something with them.
Hi Shani -I’m new in your channel. I love the way you gave instructions very simple. I just started sewing - is my passion for a while but never had the chance. Just bought me a new sewing machine and I’m ready to start creating my line of cloth.
just found your channel and now I can't stop watching all your vids! thank you for all these videos I can't wait to go down this rabbit hole and binge all your videos! x
Ive made this skirt from scratch for me (since Im a plus size lady) and I made it reach the floor and in royal blue with a slit up the back since it was like a rectangle that fits over my hips with some ease for a few gathers in the back and it looks like a pageant gown skirt since it sweeps the floor as I walk and I used so much fringe. I also used your technique of doubling up the fringe to make it thicker for a ballgown I had designed where there was fringes and lace trimming all around the bottom 15 inches to give the skirt more movement especially while dancing.
Honestly I watched your channel for the first time and this is the first video I came across. Awesome content. I was really captivated just watching it. The final result is amazing. Great job!!!
A little tip I’d add to this; pin the bottom layer of fringe and then try the skirt on to ensure the final length falls in the most flattering part of the leg. If you’re not happy with the length, unpin, move the fringe layer up or down to ensure you’re happy before you start gluing or stitching.
smart!
That thought did occur to me, too. I'm only 5'4" and while I have a long inseam and a short body, it's something I have to consider with anything that exposes leg. It can be very deceiving.
James Paddick great tip 👍🏾

Wow..very helpful
My mother had a gorgeous green dress with fringe like this in 1940. Everything old is new again 🤗
You're giving high end fashion a run for their money
ahhhh thank you!!!
Right
Totally!! She's awesome!
Ti Heera agree!
When I create fringe work, rather than double layering it, I just offset it by the width of the top ribbon. It still appears full and weighted but without the bulk of a double layer of ribbon. It also adds dimension to the fringe by by varying the length by 1/2 inch.
Ahhh so you would have like a mini stacks and then the larger one right?
@@vilaniacerylia6428, that just allows it to hang nice and feel comfortable without the bulk of a double stack.
Like adding one ribbon right under the next, and so on.
@JasonMoodie great tip! I want to do a dress and I was worried about the double layer weighing it down, especially because I plan to sew it on.
Oh my gosh! The color and style are a perfect “10” 🖐🏻🤚🏻
Neighbor's sayin': "There goes that strange woman struttin' around her front yard like she's at Fashion Wee k 2019! "👍👍👍😆😆😆👏👏👏 Love 💘the skirt, thanks!👍👌

Thanks DIYD for "taking us along" on the skirt "shopping". Sharing the experience of failed options and eventually finding the perfect one was most encouraging! And that front yard rooster strut is totally the way to go! Twirl it baby!

That skirt is amaaaaazing....totally in love with the end product
Love it!! Question: guess you’ll have to dry clean it when needed, right?
My thoughts exactly, I threw a thin fringe piece into the wash and it unraveled on me...
yes it's totally a dry cleaned piece.
Absolutely amazing that you were able to make that beautiful fringe skirt without sewing. Nicely done.
I love the DIY but where did you get your sweatshirt?!
haha it was from my old clothing line
they have a shirt like that on amazon
I met with your channel new. I can t belive that.OMG you are so so so so talented. 😍😍😍😍😍😍

I just subscribed, oh my gosh that skirt is so fetch. So fun and flirty. Thank you for the tips.
So fetch!! I love it. I own a resale shop in Denver called On Wednesdays We Wear Pink. We say this in store all the time!
How much did the fringe cost and how long does the glue last. I would love to try this so I would like to know if it would fall apart.
Fabritac is way durable but the best way to be sure is to just sew it😊
Exactly same question
I used Fabric Tac for 3 layers of fringe each row then zig zag stitched on my sewing machine. I love this skirt.
I am doing 52 creative projects in 2021 and this and 3 of your other videos just made the list, thanks so much or sharing this great stuff with the world!
This reminds me of Taylor Swift's costume which she wore for her song delicate.
Cool for Holloween👍😲
Or if you're going to a Taylor swift concert 😉
Ps I’d love to see how you made the second teal outfit...the top particularly. I guess same concept huh
That's just picture for reference
yes exactly. Just do the exact same thing on a top
Just discovered this channel, and I tell you what! It's a bomb. I'm already hook here going back to watch old videos
I’m going to make this as a mini skirt for NYE since it’s going to be the beginning of the roaring 20s
Sy Monroe dude, they did not wear miniskirts in the 20’s.
They wore their skirts like, down to the knee.
I’m a new subscriber I fell in love with how easy it look and how pretty, been a mom with 2 beautiful young daughters is a great help having your channel around.
