This is just a young band having fun and that is why I love this song so much. I recommend watching the live version to see how they just enjoy playing music. This song brings a completely different meaning when it is brought together with the rest of the concept within the album. i would recommend it to anyone who listened to this without hearing the rest of the album to follow along with the lyrics. Amazing album. My all-time favorite album even ahead of The Wall, The Lamb or Scenes From a Memory and i like those concept albums a lot.
Thanks for the song. Glad you enjoyed it.Tennessee Salted Caramel Whiskey for me tonight ;) Singer is Ross Jennings. If you like his voice, he recently did a semi-acoustic album (Troika) with Neal Morse (Transatlantic/NMB/former Spock's Beard) and Nick D'Virgilio (Big Big Train/former Spock's Beard) which is a modern take on Crosby, Stills, and Nash. A little less prog-y, but still might be worth a listen. Maybe "Julia".
in my honest opinion this is Haken's masterpiece! maybe there is some rhythmically more weird stuff is coming on the following albums but they never will come back to these great melodies! If there is an ancient band to compare: Gentle Giant. the always mentioned Cockroach King refers to their vocal lines.
Excellent choice. Nice reaction. Looking forward to seeing reactions from a wider variety of newer prog bands here. Push the envelope and spiral out. Keep going. 😎👍
The opening is actually reprising a lot of themes throughout the album. I have to say whatever version you are listening to sounds very light on the low end. The bass pounds during the opening/overture in my copy. I hope you're hearing it better. Ross Jennings is the vocalist. He and Richard Henshall wrote most of this album from a dream Ross had. Henshall does most of the melodic guitar leads, and he's the band's multi-instrumentalist.
Love this album and this song! At their roots, Haken is an excellent Prog Rock Band. The Mountain is their pinnacle album from this period. Cockroach King is a stone cold classic of the past twenty years. Maybe try another shot at Big Big Train. Try London Plane or Folklore. Also, IQ is worth investigating. Suggest the Province from the Frequency album or the song Road of Bones.
I love all albums, but this is my favorite, and their first. This is the last song of a story about a mermaid hold captive in a freak show, so it reprises melodies from other tracks to build up a finale. I think you should do this one whole album reaction.
Yeah early Haken I feel is a lot more melodic with less metal, although saying that they had songs off this album with Death Growls, Streams and Point of no return. As many people on here are saying the Mountain is probably a good album to check out. Cockroach King and Falling back to Earth are 2 of my favourites. Other bands/songs to check out Leprous with Moon. Graves by Caligulas Horse is a great track too. New Day by Karnivool has Tool vibes, another great track of many. Happy listening OPH Tom🎶😃🤟
Great tune! I think a tune you’d like is “1985” by then. They take the 80’s sound do their Haken thing to it. Another song I’d love for you to check out, speaking of the 80’s is “Empire of the Clouds” by Iron Maiden. It’s an 18 minute opus about a blimp. It starts with a piano riff with cello. The piano part was written by their singer Bruce Dickinson
Actually realized I was mistaken, the bourbon is the A121 release, not A122.
This song have one of my favorites choruses of all time. Especially third one, full of emotion. Still amazing.

This is Genesis, Mr. Bungle, Danny Elfman, Looney Tunes, and Dream Theater's baby.
Visions (L1VE) would be an good choise from Haken. ;)
It is a bit on the longer side but I bet you would enjoy that live version alot. :)

The "circus"/"show business" music has to do with the story of the whole album.
Yeah ... Haken, fabulous band. You should check out The Mountain; it's a great album.
