just started this and i love it. im at the stage i havent dropped snooping or tactics yet and leveling my code currently and its pretty fun
It's a great starter build to get you safely into the game and making money and can be a great end game build as well.

Finally got this build setup for the most part and loving the playstyle. You probably covered this at some point but as for the fencing codex. Is it worth switching at tier 5 blackguard to get others to tier 5 or is it better to max out blackguard for the proc chances?
You don't need to switch to the others to put the points in. So I would stay blackguard always.

i have a question; After i give Shadow Hands and Ruffian 6 points each, i.'ll reset tactics and snoopings, then replace them with forensic and tracking. correct? or do i have to fill the weapon codex first? (my English is not very good and it seemed complicated as i will do this kind of build for the first time, sorry for this question)

Also need to become a gray hand to steal from monsters. if you want you can become a red hand but I don't really see a point with a backstab build.
very true i did leave that out!. mugging is a big gold maker. Red handing can increase black goods though!. but if you become known as a red hand then people can freely kill you.
@@BehrlyThere What I ended up doing was. I became just a normal thief for a few days to build up cash. Then I got my thief codex to level that up still as a normal thief build (snooping 100 [can also do 80], stealing 100, hide 100, stealth 100, magery 80 and I forget what else I had) . When my codex hit 9-10 I lowered some of my skills to become a backstab build with max ruffian and 2 into shadow hands. I lowered my snooping to 14.
I still now only use shadow hands level 2 with 14 snooping because 3 thief codex points is more to me then 14 skill.
Dumb question but I'm really new. I think I've finally landed on this build for my guy, and working on skilling up. But uh, I assume I need 100 str and 100 dex, 25 int? Or....? Thanks for all the info, great videos!
Yes that's the ideal stat setup.
I wish I had a desktop computer, or at least a secondary screen, 15 inches is just too crowded.
How do you keep yourself healed/cured?
Stealth steps. And heal pots.

Interesting, why have u chosen fencing over halberd/heavy Xbow? Purely for blackguard?
In my opinion running a bow is useless. Have to be right on top the mob to steal. So it doesn't really do anything for me. And the fencing dmg overtime with blackguard is greater than a halberd. Bleeds may happen more often. But my 800-1200 blackguard ticks end up being more overall damage.

Another easy way to lvl the codex is pilfering from mobs first, get those 12 points and done:D
Also, you can use Overlooked and Camouflage (lvl this one first) to help you level it up. You can also do this just to max kt out at 20 points and then switch to full backstabbing.
The good thing about pilfering vs backstabbing when first starting out is that pilfering can be done for free and on newbie clothes. You die? Don't matter, you only lost the gold you got in the dungeon. A pk comes by and kills you? Lmao their loss, you got nothing!

What would you recommend doing to lvl up shadow quickly?
Get in groups. Or get Into the xp dungeons.
Will auto stealth mess with the hiding cooldowns?
No. It should automatically start the CD for hiding when you take a step.
What tier shadow would you say you need to back stab in lvl 3 dungeons
The good thing about backstabbing is if done correctly you can go wherever you want. I started with Aegis Keep lvl 3. Then farmed a lot of Oss lvl 3. But I could go to SSC and Maus easily. As long as other players arent pulling mobs onto me or revealing.
I’m confused. When did you ever need tactics?
Prior to getting the printed tactics from thieves codex you needed it to gain in the fencing codex. but after you dont need it.
What do you do for mastery links? i have 5 unlocked.
I use backstab dmg increase links. But you can also use at a certain point dmg to creatures above 66% health links.
Did you drop arms lore to 0 as well? Didn't see it on your skills
Correct I have 0 arms lore on the build.
@@BehrlyThere does the skills tracking, camping and forensics compensate no disarm and hamstring?
I find it's not that necessary.
