I was a stone cold Roman Catholic growing up, then a non-denominational, now a Lutheran. Reasons being: #1 Catholics practice wrongly. Idolizing dead Mary and dead Saints, purgatory does not exist, they nullify Jesus' work on the cross it is finished (by saying after you are baptized and you sin then you are guilty of all sins after that), among many other things of man's traditions and works rather than faith alone. Don't allow priests to marry, saying that pious self denial is Godly but it's a man made doctrine. God did not make us to be alone, in life or in marriage. #2 nondenoms don't believe baptism is God in the water and His word. It is God doing the work not us. Spirit, water, and the blood these 3 are in agreement. They dont believe there's no peace there for the forgiveness of sins in baptism, it's an outward commitment you choose, but God chose us we didn't choose Him. We cannot by our own strength and volition seek Him. They do not partake in Holy Communion scripturally as Jesus says to have closed communion. There's a lot to pick off each one of the reasons. #3 why I am a Lutheran aka Christian now because the Christ centered doctrine matters. Faith alone Grace alone scripture alone, and most of all Christ alone. That's it, simple. We can't add to it or take away from it. Not by our works but by God's alone. Lutheran's got the ball rolling with the ideas and thinking of sound doctrine based on Christ Jesus. Back it up with scripture. God's living word. Does everyone get it right? No, we are imperfect and flawed because of sin. Only God is Perfect Holy and Just. We should be uplifting each other not tearing down. Every thought word and deed should be captive to Christ, but we sin every day, and to say you are without sin is to call God a liar, and let every man be a liar and God be true.
I think different denominations are partially a result of incomplete knowledge we possess. Of course there are dozen of other reasons, like historical ones, doctrinal ones, and even political ones. But it is also because we have a partial knowledge of many things. We see like through a blurred glass, like Apostle Paul said. The Jews also had different groups with sharp disagreements among each other, like Pharisees and Sadducees, in the period when the public revelations, namely through the prophets, were gone. We should just pray that God guides us in the right direction, because if every denomination will have more truth in it they would become closer.
I agree with you up to a point, that point being that there are many Christian denominations that agree on the core tenants and are righly considered Christian. However, where I disagree is that the areas of disagreement don't matter. Simply because a person or group disputes a particular position of another person or group doesn’t make the position incorrect or render it irrelevant. I submit for consideration the imperfect example of a chili cook-off. What is the base essence of chili? There is a great variation of culinary delights that could be considered chili, all unique but having at their core the same key attributes. You could have chili that possesses only the key attributes and nothing more and you would truly have chili. However, don't you want the "best" chili? Now I said this was an imperfect example because the decision on what chili is "best" is somewhat arbitrary and subjective. However, when it comes to Christianity the answer is more objective. The "best" is the one that most closely aligns with what the Bible teaches. Now that is something good, well-meaning people can disagree on and thanks be to God we are all still Christians either way. However, an examination and close study of those non-core beliefs and then attending a church in the denomination that most closely aligns with what you believe the Bible teaches is important, and is the responsible thing to do.
I'm kind of disappointed with J.Warner on this one. I agree with the bit if the denominations is only a matter of how to conduct / manage the service and structure. I agree with the bit where the disagreements are on non-essential matter. However if a detective such as this channel would make a research and follow the evidences, I believe the difference and the disagreements are mostly laid out on some core essential matters. Within the same denominations, those slight management variations can occur, however with different denominations usually they do and are in some cases, feel like enemies due to their disagreements which Jesus prayed for not to happen. My approach to this questions is to really get back to The Bible and have God's Words be the number one authority. Find a church / denomination where the members fits the description of 1 Corinthians 12:12-27. Go back to the Word and study it yourself even in finding the right denomination. I think the right denomination can sometimes mean where even they question and be open about their own views. Where even the leaders are humble, not saying they are 100% right and open to growth and changes as long as it helps them be more right Biblically. But to say all denominations are like different views on comic book characters are just too simplistic and dangerous to those who are unaware or never studied scripture. Fact is the Bible even says there are false prophets and false teachers. So we have to be vigilant ourselves.
a Christian is far more than just believing in God. Muslims believe in God. Satan himse.lf believes in God. A Christian is a follower of JESUS CHRIST!!!
But who has the authority to rule on what issues are essential? At one point, some Christians started teaching that circumcision was necessary for salvation, so the Church gathered at Council to resolve the matter. They ruled that not only was circumcision not necessary for salvation, but they forbade anyone to teach that it was, and when some continued to teach that circumcision was necessary, the Apostles did not regard them as having a legitimate difference of opinion but rather condemned them as heretics.
I think this is an ideal look at denominations. Unfortunately I don't think this is reality. There isn't unity amongst denominations in my experience. Non essential differences have grown into essential differences that shouldn't be essential. It's sad but true.
Should we love one another of course. But Doesn't doctrine also matter? Are we saved by works or by faith? Depending on what religion you belong to this could differ. Saying all religions lead to heaven is not only a dangerous message but could also be a deadly message to be spreading. Take care
Church can't save anyone, the only thing that save us is having a personal relationship with our Father, His Spirit living in and through us, without that we are lost. The purpose of the church should be to help people get to this personal relationship.
My pastor looks at the different denominations like they are personalities. Acknowledging some are way off but most to him are like different expressions
Yes, there are various Christoan Denominations. And yes, they agree on many things. Some of these things are faulty! Such as where you are going with the false innovation of the "Universal Invisible Church" Sadly, that is not THE Church at all. The CHURCH is United in Faith in Practice, in worship from local Visible Congregation, to local Visible Congregation! Are You Invisible? Then why would you think Jesus's Church is?
I don't understand why there are all these different religions. Christianity is our Faith. When I was feeling a little guilty about not attending a church, I remembered Jesus' words...."Follow Me." He never ever tells us to follow a religion. We're actually called to step away from temples and engage in a personal relationship with Him. ✝️👑🙏🤍🐑🕊🌻
Yes, but He also command us to not give up fellowshipping together. Going to church may not be essential for salvation, but it is essential for our walk in Christ.

@@dragontalontsiawd Amen!
Yeah I have similar reasoning so I'm part of a primitive congregational denomination that baptises, and celebrates the Eucharist weekly.
Non-denominational people do partake in Holy Communion. 100% Same with ALL Protestants, Catholics, or Orthodox.

I agree 💯
Ive never heard this way of phrasing! We are united as comic book fans (One in Christ) is definitely something I will be keeping in mind 🤝

Howzit, I 100% agree with what you said. These minor differences do not affect ones salvation, which is the core unifying belief of Christianity.

Tried all of these…currently exploring Orthodoxy ☦️

Which one is the right one? None of then Bible says we are not to make divisions in 1st Corinthians 1

That's an interesting way of looking at it.
Be a Christ-In.
Israel is the roots, we are at the branches!
No. Jesus is the root.
No God is the tree, we are grafted into Him.
Yes, there are various Christoan Denominations. And yes, they agree on many things.

Each person who believes in Christ and follows him is the Church. It's not invisible, but it includes ALL who believe and follow Christ.
