People who dig this song: please explain how this is not the most melodramatic song this band has ever written.
Musically, great. Vocally and lyrically... corn cheese doesn't begin to describe it.
It's the Icarus story. So what? It's intended to be sad, as well as fable-ish.

I'm not looking to fight, I just think you might be missing the beauty of the song. It's not melodramatic, it's tragic, just like the story. But for Thrice fans it stabs the heart a little deeper (imo at least), because of a song they released albums ago called the "Melting point of Wax".
Speaking for myself I see the pair of songs as a comparison between arrogant youth, and mournful adult/parenthood , both of which this band has embodied as it's transitioned through the years.
Just my take on it though.
it's a greek legend, a sad cautionary tragedy, but not cheesy at all.
